Any entombed remains of a first century itinerant rabbi named Jesus (it was a common name) who was scoured, crowned with thorns, and crucified would go a long way. (2) Could be proven true by textural criticism. However, I think the consensus is strong that the authors of the gospels believed what they wrote.

As for your criteria of a religion with no factions or atrocities, I agree it would be impressive, but I don't think it's a realistic expectation in light of free will and human nature. In fact, because of these very things, I expect a "true" religion to have these almost from the get-go. Everything is reinterpretable, so people will interpret it ("God's Word"?) as they wish. Because religion is a powerful force in society, politicians will use it to serve their personal ends. Sad but true.
I'm glad I watched the follow-up; this is much more concise and to-the-point. The items you discuss in the last section are a source of embarrassment to me. So many anti-evolutionists don't even know what evolution is, so why are they against it? People who adopt a faith because of some sort of unusual personal experience are missing that they could be deceived. The only question that really matters. If the Judeo-Christian God is true, then why does only 1/7th of the world believe in Him? As a Christian, I would lose my faith if conclusive evidence for any of these were demonstrated:
1) That Jesus was not resurrected.
2) That the gospels were entirely fictional.
3) That the universe had no beginning, or a material first cause.
4) If I die any anything other than judgment by almighty God happens : P (I'll be sure to report back)

FWIW, I do think physicists are on the verge publicizing an answer to number 3) (a material first cause has been proved mathematically, Lawrence Krauss, etc.), but it still is a pretty recent discovery, being subjected to peer criticism, or so I'm lead to believe.

@quaternio Not quite. If Jesus was buried in a sealed tomb, it isn't inconceivable that remains could be found. Any entombed remains of a first century itinerant rabbi named Jesus (it was a common name) who was scoured, crowned with thorns, and crucified would go a long way. (2) Could be proven true by textural criticism. However, I think the consensus is strong that the authors of the gospels believed what they wrote.

If I told you I could fly, but only when nobody was around, and then demanded you prove that I can't , you would think it was ridiculous. Same here. 2) The gospels were written almost 200 years after Jesus "supposedly" died. And AFTER Paul wrote his Epistles. As for your criteria of a religion with no factions or atrocities, I agree it would be impressive, but I don't think it's a realistic expectation in light of free will and human nature. In fact, because of these very things, I expect a "true" religion to have these almost from the get-go. Everything is reinterpretable, so people will interpret it ("God's Word"?) as they wish. Because religion is a powerful force in society, politicians will use it to serve their personal ends. Sad but true.

So many anti-evolutionists don't even know what evolution is, so why are they against it? People who adopt a faith because of some sort of unusual personal experience are missing that they could be deceived. the point of the fact is is that for a civilization to exist for more than a billion years u would need 7 males and 15 females to keep a civilization going for more than a billion years and it has been more than a billion years which means is that earth population has started to level off and we have 50 years to go before it starts decreasing i doesn't take only 2 people whats the male children supposed to do bang their own mom to make another baby

@DMisek96 actually you would probably need more like a 100 to avoid in breeding, otherwise you would end up with a severely destroyed gene pool and from that, it would slightly defeat the point of intelligence in humans.

@MrArpas123 This is in contrast to the more than roughly 3/4 of the general population that believe in some God in the United States. Belief also varies by field: psychologists, PHYSICISTS and engineers are less likely to believe in God than mathematicians, biologists and chemists.
If physics proves god...you'd think physicists would be aware of that, right?

@MrArpas123 Studies have shown that scientists are less likely to believe in God than are the rest of the population. Precise definitions and statistics vary, but generally about 1/3 are atheists, 1/3 agnostic, and 1/3 have some belief in God (although some might be deistic, for example). cont--->

when we say "so atheists believe in a lot of things, some might even be the same as to what you believe in." im talking about provisional morals... or things like humility or trust. or even physical things like sports, nature.. etc

Atheism is just a position... a position of disbelief in a god.
it is not a religion, nor a cause, nor denomination. its just a notion.
If you are Christian you are atheistic to the hindu gods, or allah...etc
So Atheists believe in a lot of things, some might even be the same as to what you believe in.

@MrArpas123 Again, BS. It's like u are trying to mesure an atom with a ruler. Like I said there is a difference between knowing and conjecture. But there is also a difference between between conjecture and faith. Remember the essential elements for life to exist are everywhere in the universe. For the existence of god(s) their is no such possible conjecture because their is not a single tangible proof of it's existence. The absence of evidence doesn't constitute in any way a proof of existence.

@MrArpas123 But if, like I hope you do, think atheist are *open *to the *possibility* of extraterrestrial life, well whatever. Their is a difference between conjecture and *knowing* alien exist. After all the element necessary for life (carbon oxygen etc) exist everywhere in the whole universe. Does it affect me as an atheist ? Not in the slightest. Don't judge atheist with your own limited measuring sticks.

The Bible is full of contradictions. God is good and loving, yet commits acts of murder and genocide all throughout the Old Testament. God loves us yet will punish non believers for eternity with no chance of redemption if their name is not in the "Book of LIfe". Whats the point of torture & punishment with no chance for redemption?Seems pretty pointless unless you are a sadist and simply enjoy watching others suffer.

Okay first, "god", notice I did not capitalize the name, is not a man, nor is it real. Just goes to show how religion is as sexist as the society it opiates. Secondly, twords Christians, Jesus was a human, was he not? By LOGIC, can you not say that he had influence on what he portrayed as a god, if I am correct he had the biggest influence, yet he was the son of god so the message was misconstrued on "god's" part, since Jesus spoke the words. Religion is a comfort and god is a destruction tool.

The only question that really matters. If the Judeo-Christian God is true, then why does only 1/7th of the world believe in Him? It seems, according to the Bible, that God wanted people to believe in him and he showed himself countless times to the people. Jesus performed "miracles", God flooded the Earth, Moses carried his Word. Why doesn't He do these things now? Esp when we are suffering so much. That in and of itself does not make since to me and is the reason I am agnostic.

@miashalala Well, if you play the its not fair card and tht surely a majority of people would support validity, then you may find reason to exuse your unbelief. You have heard and yet you still seek reasons not to believe. Hence even in lands where Jesus is preached less than %10 believe. Perhaps God doesnt care about your standards of fairness. Perhaps you will glory Gods wrath rather than his love and grace. Either way God will be glorified.
