  • Wow...wouldnt mind hearing my voice like this

  • how did you combine the videos together like that

    ?

i really want to make one, but i have no clue how to combine them:/

  • Ouch.

  • This came out nice.

  • If this is a bad one, then why is it still on Youtube? You have a much better one. That's all that needs to be here.

  • @jthameschoir Sigh . . . think about it.

  • I like the idea of this! :)))

"If you open the eyes" :D

  • I like the idea of this! :)))

  • @tabj9496 Follow the directions and watch the one I just posted last week, dumbass.

  • Fantastic job. Especially on the soprano parts. Damn.

  • i give you mad props. eff ppl who can only pick out te "bad" shit

  • immense work

  • Wow, though I had to lough out loud at your high soprano parts. The middle-voiced parts are actually really good and convey a good feeling of scintillating.

  • Ok dont get me wrong dude you did awesome and im quite jealous that u get to sing with eric whitacre for a second time!!! Yes, it's cool what you did but..... one person cannot capture the full beauty of the piece. No offense bit it CANNOT BE DONE!!!!! And your vowels were weird.. too wide and bright. And your falsetto is way to shrill. Let the notes and your voice just float above everything. Other than that pretty cool.

  • OMG DUDE U ROCK!!

  • Wow... were you falsing those soprano notes? I don't think you were... but I can't tell for sure. I sang bass 2 on this and I loved you rocking the low notes =). Needless to say, rediculous range.

  • Dude, this is fucking epic!! The only thing is your that your vowels are too spread, and sometimes your soprano is just a tad flat. However, this is a GREAT show of range. This is sick.

  • This is not awesome. Look up my choir singing water night. Clear creek chamber.

  • its good but your vowels are way wayyyy to bright and spread. like the i and eyes. round your mouth more

  • @trinity27777 It was intentional. I was testing what the polar opposite would make the vocal clusters sound like. I am pleased.

  • @Barbershop666 this was very nice. loved the close harmonies. Still a bit strident, but I guess that was what you were aiming for. I'm really proud of you for tackling this piece of music.

  • oh my goodness this is an awsome quality 2 have... i kno how hard this can b nd i jus wish that i could do it

  • What!?!?! I LOVE IT!!!!! I've wanted to do this but I never even dreamed of video recording myself while I did it. AMAZING! Congratulations on having the mind and gumption to do this!

  • This is pretty awesome. Minus some of the high parts. Haha. But that's cause you're a boy!! But great job staying in tune!

  • this video just made my life. THANK YOU.

  • Wow! That was amazing! I enjoyed the portions of cacophonic harshness. It added tension to the song.

  • Too much squishy barbershop quality in the singing for my taste, but very admirable of the effort you put into this!

  • well i doubt you could ever get a better blend as far as sound goes

  • isnt it only 14 parts?

  • @ikaikahamamura It goes into 15 total. the sopranos split into 5 parts at one point and the altos go to 4 and the guys each go into 3..There isn't 15 at one time, but if you want to get technical, there are a total of 15 parts.

    =].

  • @JennyLuu06 the version my choir sang was only 14, thats why i was wondering

  • @ikaikahamamura Yeah, makes sense. I would have been confused too lol.

  • @JennyLuu06 is there actually more than 1 version? that would be insane

  • @ikaikahamamura I'm not sure lol...that would be crazy!!

  • That's amazing! Great job!

  • Very nice.

  • This is INCREDIBLE! All the people bitching about how horrible it sounds DO NOT have the balls to do this. So all you people talking shit, put your balls on and try making a 16track of this piece. NOT EASY !

  • so what do you normally sing? lol

  • Tenor 1. :)

  • you are the undisputed master of the universe

  • i loves it.

  • okay so all of you who keep saying it sounds bad- i really want to know how many of you can do this. It takes some serious balls to even attempt this, let alone pull it off.

  • Shit was hype.

  • I miss having a falsetto.... Your face on the first soprano part of "If you open your eyes" makes me giggle :) good job.

  • The nasalness and false starts kills it. But otherwise, it's nothing to totally shun.

  • I completely agree.

but i would add the fact that it sounds terrible

  • this is truly horrendous and if any guy who has a good falsetto doesn't think he can do better than that is really a shame.

  • i'm sorry its just the tone and the nasality. it just ruins it for me.

  • Beautiful xxx

  • i think you're a nerd

  • Yeah he's a nerd. But you have to admit, this is pretty freaking good!

  • @1babcoda: a nerd, is a word invented by people with nothing as wonderful as music to cling on to in their lives, and jealous people. to sum up, be quiet.

  • confuckinggrats, man!

  • Holy shit! O_o Nice job, dude.

  • bravo!

  • Oh My Gosh

It's all that I can say!

    Amazing amazing job!!!

  • pretty amazing

i'm just night sure if i like how bright your "i" vowels are...

    but it's crazy

  • I think the tonal clusters sound amazing when you make the sound really pingy. So I darken slightly for lower voiced chords, and really let it come out of the front of my head when the clusters come in. Example would be "Drink in your EYES"

  • dude good job on making it your gonna be singing in an eric whitacre choir!!!!!!!!!!!!!! awesome

  • Its not the first time singing with Eric Whitacre, haha. But it will be my first time singing in Carnegie Hall.

  • I sang in Carnegie Hall back in '08 best Show SHOW in my life!

  • well done man the power of a voice love it :-)

  • this is actually pretty amazing.

  • LOL. Thanks for the vid. I really got to try this too sometime. :-D I play the recorder and have mixed 5 recordings of myself before, but I never tried mixing videos. (or even mixing voice recordings, even though I sing in choirs as well)

  • So you haven't seen it yet. Go ahead and youtube search "Nox Aurumque" to have your brain melting through your ears.

  • This is amazing! Great job!!!

  • Excellent man!

  • Before I even discovered "True" barbershop, I sang choral. To give you a comparison, I've been singing barbershop for about 9 months. Before that I sang choral for 5 years.

  • It sounds nice and I'm glad you fixed that problem, that everything is panning around all the time. But now it sounds as if all voices are placed in the middle. I think you should put some (blocks of) voices more to the right and others more to the left like in a real choir.

BTW: Did you participate in that multitrack choir project?

Furthermore there is some clipping on the loudest notes. And I still think you use too much reverb, even though it's more appropriate for a choir recording.

  • Hmmm. There is a dial on garageband I think I could change it from left to right with that. We'll see what I can do.

I didn't participate in the Virtual Choir for Sleep, but I will on the next piece they do, which is Lux Aurumque.

What do you mean by clipping? And yes in further barbershop videos I cut down on reverb, but for choral this is the level I will keep it at.

  • I see. By clipping I mean overshoots. They happen when the volume exceeds the maximum which can be stored. Values larger than that are clipped down to the maximum value, making sinus waves to square waves and resulting in distortion.

The mass multitrack choir project is a nice thing, I think. But I would not want to participate, because it's a lot of work for a tiny little fraction one person makes to the final product. I don't want to spend >10 hours on recording something nobody will notice.

  • Ten hours?! It takes 5 minutes!

  • For me recording only a few seconds of music takes many hours, because I'm a bloody beginner with singing.

I have to retry each part many, many times to get one good shot, maybe do a few singing exercises if it does not work, practice parts with my teacher, etc. My 4 tags took me each about 10 hours and there are full songs I'm working on for months, now. When I put so much effort in a project I want to be heard.

  • Hmmm, you definitely don't seem like a beginner from what I hear. :)

  • Thanks! Well, I'm taking lessons for about three years, now. But before that I had no experience with singing at all and I was terrible bad and could not hit a single note. Now I'm able to sing nice sounding notes at least sometimes.

When I do a recording I retry so many times that all notes sound more or less nice (which is an incredible amount of work even for a tag!). I agree the results are not bad, but if you would hear me sing live, you would probably be very disappointed.

  • It is Nox Aurumque i believe. beautiful song :D

  • Incredible.

  • How long did this one take you? A week? You've really outdone yourself.

  • It took me yesterday and this morning.

  • It's very confusing that you sometimes answer, using your Barbershop666 account and sometimes using your Purenicotine account. Why do you have two accounts, anyway?

  • I created Barbershop666 for multi tracks. Purenicotine is for my piano projects and other stuff.

  • this is amazing. congrats <3

  • This is so amazing.

  • Wonderful! Rex would be so proud of you.
