I have to agree that this ad is confusing. There are better ways to get this point across. Sorry, Avaaz, but I cannot support you here. It pains me to say so, as this issue is too important.

The ad is a descent parody, but all it does it tell us something we already know. What is the value in that? It doesn't really motivate anyone to do anything about climate change, just snicker at a parody about how oil companies are part of the problem. At the end of the day, it isn't effective as it doesn't really promote anything to happen.

I work professionally on climate change communication and think this is a very poor ad. It is confusing and sometimes appears to actively promote the oil companies point of view, it contains no substance and feels like leftist posturing, it feels manipulative and has no rewards, no appeal whatsoever to any positive vision, or any appeal to deeper metaphors.

failed ad, your average Canadian wont get the pointwe are supposed to hate this guy and what he represents, but he is too good of a saleman, in the sense that he has charm and could sell his grandmother...what is he selling? The ad goes by so fast, too much blah, blah, blah, I myself was stuck with a big ??? afterwards and had to replay it several times to get it...worry not, I am totally on your side, but perhaps you might want to get a lot of opinions before paying for air time.
