  • We are only at the beginning of the nanotechnology era. In 20 years from now nanotechnology will be huge. 2-3 smart scientists, engineers can make their own high tech company. Capital is now not a problem. More important than the business idea is to find right people that are willing to share the risk with you. There are dedicated communities, such as the Scientistshub . com, where scientists meet and interact with their peers, share ideas and partner to startup an enterprise.

  • My father is an I.T. It's cool but he keeps hacking into my facebook! >:(

  • Nothing in life that's worth having comes easy.

  • hey i like computers but not really the software part of it i like building them.do u think it is a good job?

  • @darion507 You're thinking of computer hardware engineering. Do some research.

  • @darion507

Hardware in terms of what? If just "building" a tower than forget it.

  • i want to get a job in technology

  • I cant lie, this is about your best video. This is good and real solid advice. Im not too big of a fan of your other videos. This is real stuff.... Thank you.

  • That's amazing Chris! I think your advice is useful.

  • Wow, I saw a video previous where Chris was being kind of a jerk to a kid. However, then I didn't know much about him. Now after seeing this video and many others helpful ones, Chris seems like a cool and helpful person. =)

  • WTF! Technology Career Advicer ^^

  • That's because you got a degree in english dude!

  • go get some certs.

perfect thing to do.i hate history and things like that.but i love computers.

    so im getting certs

  • Not as easy to get certs as one may think, I am a strong test taker and yet I had such a hard time with this. Still if you think you can do it give it a shot.

  • what are those lights above those monitors ???

  • The flashing squares?

    Those are just lights.

  • They are binary clocks, I believe.

    I saw them somewhere.

Tix clocks or ticks, or... something.

    Can't remember exactly.

  • it is some sort of weird clock.. seriously, not sure how you read it though lol

  • its pretty easy to read. Every tix clock has 4 rows. First row has 3 lights. 2nd has 9. Third has 6. While 4th has 9.

If the first light has 1 light showing and second light has 2, it means its 12. (get it 1 and 2). Then so forth as it goes along. Like the time around 3 min on the video is 10:23. first row has 1 light. 2nd has 0, 3rd has 2, 4th has 3.

  • My Case:- Didactic Degree. Never had/used any type of Computer except for Vid games in 80's.

Bought 1st IBM Aptiva @ Best Buy (1100.00USD For TOWER Only). Supposed to work w/ NT4 Workstation:- It DIDN'T. 1 Yr of back & forth to "Gook Squad" & they never fixed it. Took me 6 Weeks, Bargain Books @ 1/2 Price Books & I learned to build, Programme, ConfigBy Reading AND Doing. Now I work as a Sr. Tech. Analyst (4 yrs so far) @ Computer Sciences Corp. "Help Desk". Love it!

"There is no TRY, only Do!"

  • Well thats cool!!

  • I haven't found anything that I love to do. I think some people were born to live in a cardboard box under a bridge.

  • this is a gr8 vid. wish i was active like him

  • It's amazing how Chris can make one simple email into a 10 minute long video. I'm jealous and wish that I could do that!

  • Very Inspirational bro. Thanks

  • Man, I enjoy ur videos!

  • It's streaming live, and the live stream is what's recorded, not pre-streaming to my knowledge. He doesn't have unlimited bandwidth, as much as I'm sure he'd like to.

  • WOW that's funny because I always found the math and physics/programming so easy that I decided to go into hardware because I thought software was for lazy people who wanted the easy way out. It's so interesting that this guy thinks software is harder. Too funny.

  • Why is it 'funny'?

If you equated software to programming that's profoundly wrong.

Anyone who has been doing software long enough will tell you how complex it is and how difficult it is to become familiar with all its nuances.

  • im going to make my own OS its going to be a combination of mac and vista

  • gd luck, let mi knw wen u do.

  • good stuff dude, and yes nothing like technology

  • Great video! "Baby steps" is what we adults often forget to keep taking! Want a successful IT Technical Career working for someone else? A mix of 3 essential skill sets is required to stand out from the many, many people competing against you around the globe:

    #1: Communication/People Skills

    #2: Business Skills

IT is not a priesthood that users bow down to!

#3 and least important: technical skills!

Yes, you can become a subject matter expert in IT but that alone is not sufficient anymore.

  • Instead of the term "geek", us "geeks" like to be call I.T.guys.

  • lmao, i hope to be an I.T. guy soon

  • @valerymenelas very true

  • It is call "I.T. guy" lol.

  • thnks mate, it was great, imm 22 and i fking dont no what i want to do, im working in a hotel as a supervisor, but its killing me, i just hate what im doing rite now, so the key word is TECHNOLOGY. cud u please tell me where do i start such courses from??

  • wow, i just watched this and it made me think about the future, i think you may have just made me assure that i want to pursue a career in technology,

Thank you very much for the video =]

    You change lives =]

  • squeak is awesome

  • I have been in IT for ten years now and I am not a college graduate. I been lucky to have good jobs. I started in a call center working with end user doing hardware and software support. From there I worked my way on up to better jobs. But it took me a long time. looking back I would go to college. It helps give you a easier foot in the door.

  • @ocpud2999 This is true, but too many college grads assume the will get a job solely on their qualifications. It is just as important to build an achievement based CV.

  • @ocpud2999

Why do you say that a college education will help you? Do you mean that it helps because you understand your books/teachers better thus learn faster OR do you mean that companies/employers prefer their employees to have college education [ie. you occasionally get rejected simply because of your lack of a college education]

  • @ocpud2999 Wish I could agree with you and give you a thumbs up, but I can't. I just graduated in August with a B.S. in I.T. and can't find/get a job. I lack employment experience in the I.T. field. My resume just doesn't get me the interview where I can better sell myself and my abilities. The education, at least today, isn't enough to land you a job in the I.T. field, or any other field. You have to have experience, which you can't get because you aren't hired to get it.

  • Well education was not enough when I started . I got hired during the dotcom crash.

I started at 9 bucks an hour. which even back in 2000 was nothing. Where college will help is when you gain that experience you tend to be able to climb faster. I also live in Texas so we have job opportunities that are better than many states.

  • Wery awsome :)

ceep going you are good (Y)

im wery prowd of ya bb hawe good fun

  • WOW! I was MEANT to see this video. Great advice. I REALLY want to become a massage therapist. However I'm afraid I won't make alot of money. So I decided, to go into computers (I'm going to start with A+ and Networking then maybe Microsoft Help Desk courses). But honestly...I really don't wonna. So hearing is really making me wonder if I'm making the right choice. I wonder if I can integrate the two? Hmmm....anyway..thanks for the advice!

  • Gimp.

  • Hey Can somebady tell Me How can i send E-mail To Chris.I have sendet 2 E-mails from my Youtube account and from his web sit but he is not answerinf

    Help Me PLEASE

  • Well, I may say something that you might not believe: *YOU* are not the only person in this world. Chris get's TONS of eMails every day and I'm pretty sure he's going to answer them all.

  • He's NOT* going to answer them all.

  • oh yes he is!

  • thanks for the advice

    and great words of encouragement

and ur right... allot of what you said is ture.

but i am waiting to get my first step.

my first step into the door that is.. lol

  • man i would take this guys job any day lol

  • for sure one of your best videos chris =)

    you rule ^^

    congrats

  • if love ur work u never work!

  • PS Chris, this video gets very, very touching near the end.

  • LMAO @ Librarian being the number 1 choice lol. Someone must have hacked the system XD

  • Good advice thankyou sir

  • lol, i'm an information systems major in college right now but that was after i change my major twice from comp sci. the actually degree doesn't matter, it's all about the amount of experience that you have and what you are determined to do. it's not cut and dry of what job you can get. you can get pretty much any job. BTW, information systems doesn't need math and physics, i hate them too.

  • Great advice Chris! Programming is not for everyone. You do have other options in the tech field like IT jobs.

  • i would love to get a job @ dell building a computer! XD

  • move to india.

  • i mean some where in AMERICA i aint learning that LANG

  • LOL good lucky with that. Even in America you're gunna need to learn another lanugage to speak to people at Dell.

  • collage is free in ireland in fack some people are paid to go to collage

  • Now look i think that you just made a fool of yourself as you just said that its free to get into collage, well if you spell things (like fact as fack) it must be pretty easy to get into collage on Ireland.

  • Did you get picked on in school or summin?

  • Free you said?

    *moves to Ireland*

  • I'd move to ireland and fact with many peopls white for free

  • yea. me to. lol. thx 4 the informations! very useful 4 me. :D

  • WOW. I was about to ask this same question.

  • I would love a job in Technolog type of job, but no one even looks at me with out that little bit of paper saying i have skills in this type of area. But i will stick with joining the infantry some time next year. Good advice chris!

  • I would love for APPLE :D

  • great video yo

  • There are highschool entry jobs looking for people to help offices with servicing computers. Pays decent & is a great starter. So are tech call centers. Many look for entry level tech's. Much of the training is offered, and some offer certifications

  • chris that was good advice! I've been trying to figure out what i want to do as a career, and i haven't found anything that really interests me. so i think i might just take your advice and try to set up my own business, or something like that :)

  • Yea same here, I was going to become a Software Engineer but programming got boring for me after programming in a lot of different languages for a few years. ATM I'm thinking of becoming a Paramedic or a Doctor, but this will probably change since I love tech.

  • What about technology for doctors, servicing medical equipment? Those guys that service GE imaging equipment bank 100K a year.

  • Adventureland wow i haven't been there for like 5 years.

  • AM ON HIS CHAT

  • nice advise chris!

  • ffs why does everyone dis the first comment

  • LOL, because it's fun!

  • im second
