  • Also in Ps 8:4 when it says "what is man, that thou art mindful of him?" It continues "and the son of man, that thou visitest him? For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honor." It goes on to make it clear that he's referring to the creation, when God gave man dominion over the earth.

But where I do agree with the haters is I would join them in encourging people to be like the bereans and search the truth out in the scriptures for themselves

  • Hmm, there's a lot of haters on here willing to take scripture out of context to condemn someone they don't approve of. Heb 2:7 is clearly explaining that Ps 8 is talking about man. Heb 2:9 then says it's also about Jesus and vs 11 makes this comparison undeniable, "for both he that sanctifieth and they who are sanctified are all of one". So the whole point of the passage in hebrews is to say that the Son of God took on the form of a son of man. It says so in vs 17.

  • Psalm 8 is referring to the son of man, which is Jesus Christ, not mankind. The give-away is where the psalmist prophetically writes, "you made him a little lower than the angels". Hebrews 2:7-9 is a direct reference to Psalm 8 and quotes it saying it's referring to Jesus Christ, not mankind. If you know your Bible, you won't be misled. This is an idealogical battle to for your mind. Will you choose God's Word, or man's philosophy? It sounds so convincing when he speaks so meekly.

  • hmm, not so sure i agree here. God's breath is ruach, yes, and mine is usually halitosis. There is a difference in humans breathing oxygen and the life that God breathes into us. We are not creatures of "untold power". The Word says, "What is man that you are mindful of him?" Heb 2:6 and Psalm 8:4 This message exalts man's place. It has an underlying message that we have a piece of God in us making us God. That is not what the Word says. That's pantheism, not the Holy Spirit's deposit

  • @jaretfrappier

We all have our opinions and are free to take our own views on Christianity. No matter what Rob Bell says, it's his views on what Christianity is. Sometimes we take these views too literally and take offense to it. It's all just my opinion though. Leave this guy alone, his life has been changed by these videos, don't corrupt him. Let's let people alone who are with God instead of trying to bring them down.

  • Stop it, sir Bell. you are twisting and misusing the Scriptures. Your being tired of life and hypocrisy of people should not lead others into sin. Every word we utter shall be accounted for on the day of Judgement. Please. stop it.

  • Does anyone know what song is used in the vid???

  • We are God!

  • @themotionaddict2 yeah, all he's saying is that our breath is like a reminder of God's Holy Spirit that Jesus sent upon the believers at the ascension; we aren't the Spirit, but by the grace of God we have access to the Spirit. If you watch the whole video, it's clearer that what he's saying is that w/out God, we are nothing, there is no life. The similarities in the words is so when we think of breath, we will be reminded of God :)

  • its amazing how we choose to judge those who are meaning to put a message in your head. Rob Bell is not saying we are God at all he is saying that he breathed life into us. don't look for the bad but take the good.

  • Psalm 8 is actually talking about Jesus; it's explained in Hebrews 2:5-9. That is not a passage that is saying that man is glorified, but it is a prophesy that God would make Christ to be a little lower than the angels (a man) and be crowned with glory and honor (because of redemption). It does seem to start talking about man, but I think the author switches gears in the second half. The reason why I think so is because that's what Hebrews seems to indicate.

  • @GiftsMovies thats a cool point. Hebrews is pretty clear about pointing to Jesus. But I am still leaning toward the idea that these passages talk about Christ and man. The word "them" is used quite a bit ... just a thought.

  • We are spiritual and divine beings. Satan sought to be like God but was not allowed because that was not what he was created for. We however were made in God's image. We are divine, not in and of ourselves, it comes from God. He is not saying we are God or even on the same level as God, just referencing the fact that we are made in God's image made with the breath of God, nothing else was created this way... I just believe that we should be all that we were created to be.

  • wow..people that comment with negativity are really2 insecure dont they..rob bell just a speaker, and he speak his mind what he feel to reality and his relationship with God, and i admit it its inspire me :)

  • wow. new age. we are so not divine. oman. it's like christian science. what is happening in the church? Why are we taking the bible out of context?

Lucifer comes as an angel of light. Jesus is the light. He will come disguised! Church, wake up and search the scriptures like the bereans! What he's saying is completely twisted!!

  • @themotionaddict2

What specifically are you talking about? Point me to the minute in the clip where he twists scripture so I can go back and listen to it myself.

  • @themotionaddict2 he's not saying we're God. but we are the signature of divine.. Humans are the only creature God actually breathed into to spark life. We are created in his image. granted we are fallen, but we are STILL the breath of God. We are still the bride of Christ and beautiful to Him.. not because we earned it.. but because Christ earned it

  • what a load of Eastern mystism junk. That someone can continue to pose as a Christian, and get other lukewarm apostate Christian to support shows how close we are to the falling away. He's not even hiding it, he's telling you are god. Who else said that, oh wait Lucifer. Doctrine from the bowels of Hell where all these so called Christians will end up due to their tickled ears and reprobate minds.

  • @orderslayer1 dude I just don't think you know what you are talking about. Eastern Mysticism this most certainly is not. It is actually scriptural, but I think you just want to be judgemental and feel superior!

  • Just starting my relationship with god. These videos are amazing. They are so simple, non preachy,"if that's a word.I'm glad I was blessed with them

  • I am glad you are learning more about God, Jesus, and the message of Christianity! :-)

    Keep up the meaningful work.

I've found that I learn best when I learn with others and ask questions.

You may learn differently, but feel free to message me if you would like to talk or have questions ... I know some nice friends who have helped explain things and would be willing to do so for others as well. :-)

    God bless

  • @10sayso Please be careful. Rob Bell is not a Christian. He has taken the Gospel and twisted it into something, like you said, that sounds "non preachy". The Cross is both beautiful and offensive, and once you erase the offensiveness of it (Hell and Conviction), it is no longer the Gospel, but just a bunch of twisted lies.

    God Bless

  • i love watching his videos!!!

    very inspirational

    and im only 15 <333

  • Haha. we watch his videos sometimes in church nd always laugh @ him.

He's always posing or walking down some street :p

we still love him tho :)

  • Thank you Thank you Thank you

  • and sometimes these people just choose not to listen because the solution is not always something they want to do so they dont listen

  • People know that suicide isnt a right thing to do. and yes its true that nothing is bad enough to kill yourself over because the christian life isnt supposed to be a breeze or everyone would be a part of it so there are certain to be hard times in your life but theres always a positive alternative vs. suicide and you keep asking where i get this from or where the vid gets it from and i can tell you exactly where...his word and your relationship with him.

  • well in that case you cant ask them if God ever spoke to them...its not always word in your head. God speaks in many ways, like your knowlegde of right and wrong.

  • God has something better???where on earth did u get that from?....a person commits suicide every 40 seconds in the world as god didnt give them what they needed, and you know why people go to god right? because they feel hopeless thats why and they found nothing. So how about telling that to the 2 people who just have committed suicide while i have typed this

  • what is the point of posting this on this video? why did you want to watch it. you were meant to watch this for some reason more than this. no one has a perfect life, but that doesnt leave reason for suicide. people that commit suicide are lost and dont feel hope. God wants us all to live and loves us all. we just arent listening! just know that he wants you to live and that nothing is bad enough to kill yourself over. just keep fighting through it and you will be rewarded in heaven!:D

  • You seem somewhat confused, But...yes agreed people that commit suicide are lost and dont feel hope....and thats why as a last resort they go to God and found nothing.....to your quote "we just arent listening".....I dont know where u got that from......Its God not listening otherwise those ppl would still be here.....also u said there is nothing bad enough to kill yourself over....

  • ok fine, how about asking the ppl who have kill themselves....oh sorry u cant ask them as they are not here and nor was God for them

  • I think if God wasn't around, you wouldn't be trying so hard to deny Him. When people kill themselves it isn't God they find nothing in, it goes beyond that. They find nothing in themselves or in life. And if you actually knew your stuff, it says in the Bible EVERYONE has a choice, including the choice to live or die, and it says God will not interfere with whatever you choose, but will continue to love you even if you don't realize He's right next to you.

  • I know from experience he is not there, but thankyou for your comment that you seem to know me. Your comment "When people kill themselves it isn't God they find nothing in, it goes beyond that. They find nothing in themselves or in life." ........so it goes beyond God????....Actually God says I will give you the Fullnest of Life...so infact it doesnt go beyond God at all....to your comment about choice...Yes and those people choose to go to God and found nothing....cont

  • the fullnest of life is when you trust in him to give that to you. if you deny him he wont interfere with your decision. you are yourself but God is your life...there isnt anyother way to be more happy than to just trust God, even if it doesnt make sense. he will reveal the most wonderful things to you if you accept his offer to be in your life. please just try to let God lead you and not your mind because your mind cant possibly comprehend the amazing glory of God and wat hes capable of:D

  • And if you actually knew your stuff...how about having a look at what drove these people to do what they do.....and you will find God brings disaster on people if your read him carefully....

  • God has a plan for everyone. We're allowed to make our own choices without God interfering with them. God doesn't just give us what we want when we want it. We have to seek God first, with ALL of our heart, He has a plan for everyone and it's our choice whether or not to follow it(Jeremiah 29:11-13). If someone was committing suicide then they made their choice, and that was to go against what God wanted for them

  • You're doing well

just remember to keep you message simple. This will help draw people in towards the Word of Christ.

Tell how God wants to have us in his presence because he loves us unconditionally. Show us how following Christ can help us lead our lives to a better future.

    thank you and God bless.

  • "just remember to keep you message simple. This will help draw people in towards the Word of Christ."

Martin Luther, John Wesley, Jonathan Edwards, Charles Spurgeon and all the great preachers of the past would disagree. The taught deep messages, in a way that most anyone could understand, but were not satisfied with 'keeping it simple". "My people are destroyed for a lack of knowledge (Hos. 4:6)."

  • I'm sure they were great

does not mean what I am saying is wrong

as I am sure that the great preachers may not have used youtube to teach their message because people misinterpret information when there is too much to take in all at once. When I say keep it simple, I am meaning do not overwhelm someone at first when they are beginning Christians. Truly great minds are willing to listen first, then speak when needed.

  • @bikerdisciple

yeah luther taught very simply kill the Jews , take the money and burn the houses , yeah luther was a great teacher.

  • Luther was indeed an anti semite. I neither deny nor defend that.

  • @bikerdisciple

Adolf Hitler was also one should we deny or defend him but listen to his simple message?

  • Nope. My first comment was speaking strictly of his preaching of Scripture. He was a vile and confused man in other ways. He often lamented his own vileness in his writings. This was a time of scrict churh-run governments and unfortunately he was influenced by that. They thought the it was the government's job to protect society for 'heathens' of any kind. They were wrong, but I can't deny there theoligical influence on the Church, even to today.

  • BTW, this is my new account. I'm slowly switching over. Sorry, don't wanna cause any confusion.

  • Hm, tried to repost my second comment due to very poor sentence construction on my part and it didn't post. I wrote something about if Luther woul've followed thru on his ani semitic writings he should've been hunted down just like Hitler was. And if you would like Just remove Luther's name from the list I gave and the point remains the same.

  • @OfWrathAndGrace

Luther was a lot of Hitlers justification of the treatment of Gods people. well any way i just really think we should be careful what we say as words come back to haunt us (not you or me but bell and other men of God)

  • Jeffbrown8,

go read The Journal of Social and Clinical Psychiatry, volume 27 issue 4 pg 362-388.

looks like the scientists are starting to catch up with what the Christian and Jewish beleivers have known for millenia.

hope you receive the 'breath of life' soon!

  • that's great speaking.. but i want science to discover the soul or spirit..any discovery yet?and also about coming from dirt.. how does that fit with evidence of evolution.. with our craniums getting bigger over millions of years..our jaws and brows changing.. and chromosome 2 having a fusion where centromeres and tilomeres are in different places than all other chromosomes

What does this have to do with DIRT? or a BREATH? ARE WE IN NEED OF A NEW STORY???? ARE WE IN NEED OF A NEW SCRIPTURE?

  • the soul is not a phisical thing and as for evolution scientist have dissproved themselves in trying to confirm it even darwin admitted that it was not true towards the end of his life

  • I just saw this video while at a youth conference and it was amazing. There's just no other way to explain it. His take on the act of breathing gave me goosebumps.

  • this is a very inspirational video... if you like this one check out Flame and Rain they are also very good.

  • These are amazing, But thier like 14.00 for a single cd. They should sell them in packages.

  • this man is awesome the full length on this amazing well worth ordering

  • rob bell is one of the most inspiring and challenging preachers of this day. the nooma collection is a must see, we use the dvds instead of talks for our youth serivces because there perfect and there on form. i cnat wait to see what nooma come out with next

  • this one actually makes you think about you breathing. just as all the nooma video's do they just make you think. i just watched the whole thing of this one at church camp. i remember him saying when a baby is first born does it take it's first breathe or does it say god's name for the first time. and when you die to you take you last breathe or do you say god's name for the first time?

  • same here i saw this at a church camp and this is a great video
