One fantastic thing I use to do every winter in Norway, is to drive to a totaly dark place, go outside of the car. And just watch the Northern Light. Its amazing!
If you travel up north in Norway you will without question see the northern lights in the winter. You gotta be lucky to see the truly beautifull ones though, but every one of them are awe inspiring.
The video was made with a Canon 30d and a 20 mm. lens at f/4,5 with the technique of the time lapse. Each frame has been exposed for 10 sec. at iso 800 with a pause of 15 sec.
How can you possibly drive when this is going on? Saw Joanna Lumley totally bowled over - she had to lie down and watch it. She had waited all her life to see this. it made me cry.
I was in Kirkenes in Oct last yr and saw the Northern lights with my partner who lives in Kirkenes now for the first time in m life. All these yrs ive been hearing from her about this phenomenon and i cudn believe it when i first saw it. it was just special. we were driving from Karasjok back to Kirkenes and just 20 miles from the Kirkenes airport we were, when we first noticed the lights...i can neva forget that moment...thought Australia was beautiful, but nothing compared to Northern Norway
i remember finding this vid a couple years ago i finally found it again yay and the music just breaks my heart

Stunning! Absolutly beautiful!
How do you get your camera to record the colour so brilliantly?
I was up in Alta a couple of months ago and found it so difficult to video them with all kinds of settings on/off.
Then the day I left, I heard that the Northern Lights were really bright and burning. i swear those lights are trying to avoid me = P
Thanks for sharing the video. Truely amazing ^^
