  • intro played without playback lol

  • @emilmoe123 ,,,SI ES EL BATERISTA DE UNA DE LAS MEJORES Y QUIZAS LA MEJOR BANDA DEL MUNDO....PERO DE AHI A ESTAR DENTRO DE LOS 10 primeros ???:...ESTAS LOCO!

  • metallica misses something :) if you compare the live vids from all songs before and after the year 2000 xD

  • Now I understand why they 've never played this song before..... :/

  • @metallopaido why ? please answer !

  • @Suicidalfamily because it's too fast and difficult for them! I don't know, maybe in the early years they could but I guess we will never find out....But now that Lars can't play drums any more because his is not even try and because he is much older and James can't sing as the thrash metal awesome singer he used to be,I can say without doubt that they can't take that kind of speed!! I still love metallica, metallica is more than a big metal band for me! But I must say the truth!

  • lars never was, and never will be a really good drummer, but hey, hetfield isn't the best singer and kirk aint the best guitar player in the world, it isn't really the instrumental abilities that count, but the song-writing skills (and they certainly have those)

btw, the best guitar player is John Frusciante, gotta love that guy

  • @psykosauron if john frusciante so good, you can go fuck him. METALLICA SONGS ARE FOR METALLICA FANS. YOU'RE NOT WELCOME TO GIVE SO MUCH NEGATIVE COMMENTS. WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE? CAN YOU PLAY DRUMS BETTER THAN LARS? OR YOU THINK YOU CAN PLAY GUITAR BETTER THAN KIRK?

    GET LOST MOTHERFUCKER!

  • @parjoerina1 get lost your ignorant fanboy! none of that was negative, it was a big compliment, i said: they arent the best players in the world, but i also said that it isn't what matters, what matters is their ability to write awesome songs, which they do have.

and no, im not better than kirk, or lars, or rob, not even hetfield. saying i cant criticize them (which im not btw) is the same as saying that you cant criticize politicians unless you are one yourself, and that wouldt make any sense

  • james' voice is kind of high-pitched in this song... the one from the disk is so much better than this one... i really love that song..!!!!! metallica rules metal!!!!

  • I've been trying to find more clips from this tour, I am wondering is the stage set similar to how the world magnetic tour stage is/was?

  • VIVA METALLICA !!!!!!

  • lars is not in any top ten of anything.he did inspire me to play when i was seven and was once creative.but come on for 20 years hes played horribly, bad double bass, mistimed rolls, taking two toms away didnt fucking help.hes rich beyond belief and his ego is fat and bloated and twice the size of any mere mortal.whoops on the solo kirk.wheres the 32nd notes with the feet larsy.lombardo kills that shit.

  • @bluefukingreene Top ten of heavy metals rich list!

  • @TheShepster80 so fukin what.peep sean reinart, gene hoglan, nick menza on rust in peace, mahavishnu orchestra has one of the sickest drummers ever.its not about lars and his loads of cash, its not like your on his fukin payroll to kiss his ass. call a spade a spade fukface.

  • 4:40 Kirk mistake :0

  • I Love this song very much ! it's one of the best.

I adore this BAND, James is a MIRACLE, he looks great, but I think his hear is too short !

  • @jesse17ful Get your facts right, Lars was born in 1963 (age 47). Lombardo was born in 1965 (age 45). Damn trollers these days...

  • they were gonna play this in ireland on that tour but instead they played whiskey in the jar. fuck that shit, i was dyin for this song!

  • James voice is very melodic... thrash cannot be melodic ^^

    But still good...

  • @WateverBr why cant thrash be melodic??? listen to and justice for all.. one of the best thrash albums ever..

and then tell that it cant be melodic?

  • @D41KD You didn't understand what i said, thrash can be melodic, but usually isn't... and james VOICE is melodic, not the instruments...

  • @WateverBr well... do YOU know what you mean??? first you said:

    thrash cannot be melodic ^^

and then: thrash can be melodic,

james voice is melodic.. not only when they perform live... and the guitars or especially the guitar soli are melodic too? its the way metallica interprets thrash metal..

  • @D41KD I will not fight with you on youtube... i don't have time for this, so keep your ideas and i keep mine, i'll not stay justificating my ideas about thrash metal, cause i got more to do.

Fight on youtube disgusting metal is for pussies, all i can say that you got a good taste of music.

  • @WateverBr well thats a good attitude.. metal is metal.. no matter if melodic or not.. its still great music

  • 1:09...

    Lars knows he's badass...

  • I know that Lars is a big part of metallica but he is probably the worst metal drummer ever, but I still like him as a person. Sounds gay lol.

  • Can u imagine that Rob plays it with fingers?

  • James, you are so F.I.N.E

  • without fcking lars metallica wouldnt exicest, and does anyone else think james sounds kinda like a kid XD in comparison with other videos.

  • Lmao..wow james sounds like a bitch on this one!

  • @MonEYGoGEttA937 just thinkin' same! in this james sings in so high, like in fucking boy band

  • LARS, YOU TWAT! sounds like a 12 year old kid playing drums in his bedroom!

  • This is what happens when an entire generation of fans fades out and is replaced by teens who don't know what the fuck they are talking about lol. Yes they are almost 50, guess who else is? slayer, testament, megadeth, exodus, annihilator, overkill (bobby blitz is 50!), and they play their shit like it's supposed to be played, or at least in the ballpark of close! I'm not that great, and I have all the respect in the world for 'tallica,..but there just comes a time when it doesn't work anymore

  • @harnessmusic That time is not yet here for metallica and probably the time where things will not work for them is their own death!

  • @harnessmusic i take that offensively...im 15 years old and love metallica to death

  • so... slow :(

  • @mottaveigajunior lets c u play it faster dipshit

  • "Finish this title: Dyers "EVE" *whats wrong with these people...* DYERS! "eve" *Even worse---* D Y E R S !!!!!!!!!!! eve *Omg those people suck....*" lol James fail :(

  • kinda cool zoom in this camera...

    Metallica 4ever \m/

  • Many times the idea that good old Metallica were abducted and replaced with these guys have crossed my mind....

  • He's singing like a 17 year old kid...

  • never seen them actually play the beginning, usually just played intro tape

  • cmon ease up on them there in their mid 40's and playing songs they made like 10-15 years ago. Metallica are the ppl who deserve to live forever. (V)ETALLIC/-\ 4EVER!

  • i love that stick flip right before the fast part

  • If You Dont Think Lars Can Double Bass Listen to Dyers Eve At Mexico 2009 Its Very Wow!!!!!

  • No double base.. Well, he's getting old! Solo was awesome though!

  • no double bass?

  • not as aggresive as it should be

  • Gotta say, pretty weak performance. The guitars and vocals sounded way too clean and theres no double bass.

  • Check out the concert they played in Mexico 2009. Fucking awesome how Lars plays there

  • no double bass...no aggresive vocals...-.-

  • @JaviVS Yeah right. no double bass. Look at 1:11 please.

To all of you people: I think he uses double bass on a live concert, but not the whole concert, because then he will be with Cliff Burton in no-time I guess.

What i mean is that you do have a choice: shorter setlist (Slayer is doing that) which brings you a full-on metal concert, or a longer setlist, which brings you more value for your ticket and also a lot of fun because you see Metallica playing live.

    What's the deal then?

    Cheers! \m/

  • @JaviVS This band has been together for 30 YEARS. Everyone in the band is in there forties. James and Lars are both 48 currently, and it is harder to do the things they did 20 years ago. Please stop your bitching and open your eyes.

  • @cajunstratjr Actually it would be easier since they have been playing for an extra 20 years than their former selves.

  • Lars is not the best drummer in the world, he is one of the top 10... but he is the drummer in the best band in the world : ) Metallica <3

  • @emilmoe123 oh yeah

  • @emilmoe123 hes not in the top ten hes like 56 in the top 100 greatest drummers or something?

  • @emilmoe123 Wtf?He is no where near the top 1000!

  • @emilmoe123 He aint even in the top 100 these days but he was amazing back in the late 80's early 90's!

  • @thebeasmaester there is no list what so ever that says he is in the top 10 or 100. he is an amazing drummer wich is doing the job that he does best.

  • with all the lars whining i think of the ringo argument where hes not the best drummer ever but hes metallica's drummer

  • the worst

  • lars is obviously not using double bass in dyers eve for a reason, because he uses double bass on other songs that call for it

  • Double bass pedaled you

  • hm...James' vocals unfortunately aren't as aggressive as the original studio version...but all in all a good performance by every Metallica member!

  • what do u think, when theyve done it, they were young guys, now there really old men, and after lot time u can be sure that ur voice wont can sing that high anymore, just look at hit the lights

btw. they play it all a half tone deeper, so he sings bit deeper too

  • Jesus, Rob's bass is so loud on this.

  • excelent metallica...............

  • yeap lombardo is good but come on that video "baterry whit lombardo" really sucks , first he should learn the song as it is, and then played, and lars is not the faster drumer that he was before and he never be the fastes but in my opinin is not about fast or how many drums your drumkit has forme is your music that you create and lars for me is very creative in the way that he write his drums shit.

  • said everything dude

  • awsome quality i thought this was on tv

  • why is everyone here bitching about lars drumming? sounds great to me.

  • People are bitching because isn't using the double bass pedals during the verses and solo.

That said, I totally agree - it still sounds great.

This is my favourite Metallica song and they played it for the first time in a while at the Sonisphere festival - Knebworth. I screamed my voice out and honestly didn't care if Lars was using the double bass or not.

  • is that camerholder a drummer pussy or just silly, or why did he just showed the drummer at the solo and after it kirk

  • He filmed Lars cause Kirk went behind that black thingy and couldn't be seen =P

  • k right bad position for cam

but he wasnt full time behind it

  • hmm, I guess not. Then I have no idea why the cameraman only filmed Lars during the solo!

  • heyyyyyyy

this shit was several years ago

u should listen to the new metallica

    METALLICA RULES

  • guys the difference between lars and dave lombardo and other great metal drummers is that metallica's career is based on touring, so after year and years of touring lars' stamina runs out faster, i was able to see metallica when they first started the new tour and lars sounded amazing, almost a year later i saw them again and it wasnt as fast, plus he's older now...if u dont get what i said its because im drunk lol

  • WOW! Dude I thought he was 40 lol. 46!!! Now that impressive!

  • Lars kinda hits the drums in the biginning (like a stutter) shit do i want to play this

  • Maybe Lars don't play double bass, but he is still a legend! Watch a video of Metallica in the 80's, the drums sounds as they should there. Which means he do got the talent, but yeah he is too lazy :)

But hey! cmon! He is 40 years old.

    YAY METALLICA!

  • And think about it, he did play it, because the studio version is awesome.

  • *cough cough* he actually used something called sound tools preety much a precussor of pro tools

  • dave lomardo of slayer and pete sandoval of morbid angel are around the same age and pete sandoval is still totally beating the shit out of his bass drums

  • Wow, I didn't know Pete Sandoval was that old.

Having said that, Lars is a very good drummer but Metallica changed their style and so Lars hasn't composed any thing near what he used to or what Dave currently does. If you listen to the old Metallica stuff, Lars was good but never had the speed of Dave Lombardo or Charlie Benante. I've also been hearing more and more like someone else alluded to that Lars used audio editing software on Justice. That was really changed my view of his drumming.

  • justice was lars only real good album when he had difficult and fast paced drumming.

  • Plus he was on Coke back on Justice Day xD , If I was doing coke and played Drums awesomly Maybe I would come out with something like Dyers XD

  • please listen again to metallica live performances between 88 and 95. At that time Lars was just brilliant. He is not anymore.

  • He's still great to me...

  • @BandaDK FUCK YEA XD agreed

  • @Mortif3r

    YEAH! :D

  • @BandaDK Dave Lombardo can do Angel of Death

btw he is 5 years old and is 3 times better

  • @jesse17ful

yeah... dave lombardo is 5 years old.

  • @BandaDK older........my bad

  • @BandaDK stop to compare please...

  • @bboyzagros

    i didn't compare lol...

  • @BandaDK his shoulders is fucked up and thats all... :(

  • @BandaDK

he palys double drum bass !!!

  • @BandaDK Dave Lombardo then? he played angel of death som days ago?

  • @BandaDK he still plays double. type in bergen 2008 damage inc.

  • Call me crazy, but this sounds better than the original.

  • I do call you crazy! The guitar etc. may be just as good or better but James' vocals don't have near the same ferocity as the original and he never captures it during this version.

  • Yes, the guitar and stuff seems better than the studio. But Mr. Hetfield's vocals seems to be more "catchy." Sure, it may not seem as brutal as the studio, but I find this version's a little more enjoyable.

  • crazy

  • but you gotta admit what Lars does hit, sounds good

  • I miss the double-bass, but I can understand after more than 20 years of career and like 6 years (the first trilogy of cd's) of drugs, tons of alcohol and concerts every 2 days, you simply cannot do some things you used to do before.

But it's still Metallica, and Metallica=Fuck yeah!

They are still the best band for me, for all the things they have done.

  • Lombardo, Gene Hoglan, Mikkey Dee and Lars are all about the same age. And who's the one that can't sustain double-bass for more than 2 seconds?

  • Sure this song is insane... but Lars plays a dumbed down version of it on his drum.... hes just not as fast as he used to... but Kirk sure played it amazingly

  • Agreed.

  • Hetfield did this without that legendary Hetfield growl. Weak.

  • bro, did dave contribute anything in the master of puppets album? fade to black? exactly

  • not the same without their hair ;/ but it amazes me how they can still play this song. this is not an easy song to get through lol. props to lars

  • he doesnt play the double drum=S

  • After 20+ years of playing and being in your 40's you wouldnt either. They still can perform at a high level which is the most important thing!!!!

  • Slayers been playing for more than 20 years and dave lombardo still plays all the double bass drum fills, infact most people say he plays even better live now. Well they did get best live act in metal so.

  • where is this concert at the fans are some pussies i would be goin crazy if i was right there in front when they came to dallas in 2005 i saw them up by the stage like that and i went fuckin nuts every single songs

  • oh shut the fuck mitch dick

dude there 342542362345 years old and still going strong fuck you

whatever dude... you gonna try to rip on a band dont choose metallica unless your god

  • nice \m/

  • dave didnt write shit but a couple songs dave can suck serious sausage

  • peacesells how many metallica alnums do you have everything from ride on kirk has had his name on co-writting songs

  • hahahaha he lost the bass in his voice

  • yeah but those "pentatonic grind, tapping or arpeggio triplets" sounds fucking epic nuff said.

  • Irony, right? Oo

  • dave mustaine only co- wrote four horsemen, fuck it, maybe he wrote one more, but how tha fuck can u say that he wrote all the good metallica songs?!

Kirk wrote the best of it together with cliff and james.

    Kirk rocks

Mustaine is a ugly mofo, face the fucking facts.

  • dave still writes good music and what the fuck does looks have to do with anything you fucking homo.

  • megadeth sucks fuckin ass hairs the only reason dave form that band is to get back at metallica. watch some kind of monster he admits he sucks kirk hammett is 10x better then he is way better solos how many solo vids of dave r there none because he sucks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

  • Srsly?! Jeez!!

Kirk plays very sloppy! Pentatonicwankawanka! MahGawd!

  • james sings very sloppy :S

  • A large portion of Kill 'Em All wouldn't have existed without Dave Mustaine's musical influence.

    Sooooo.........

  • dude his name is on two or three songs on that album get over it i think they could have got through it without him

  • It's possible. However, all I was saying is that Dave's writing influence did shape a bunch of songs on Kill 'Em All - so who knows - maybe the debut album might have sounded totally different. And they obviously got through it without him seeing as Dave was fired before Metallica was anything but a huge SanFran band.

  • no i got tickets for 70 bucks and i would gladly pay more

  • I think it was 5 songs he co-wrote. But kirks hardly written anything compared to james and dave. Lars has even got his name on more songs than kirk. Dave owns kirk

  • bull shit

  • dave wrote ALOT of fucking riffs for metallica haha

  • he only wrote like 2 or 3 or so, ride the lighting, call of ktulu, and 4 horsemen, thats not A LOT dumbass, im tired of this megadeth and metallica shit, just listen to music dammit lol

  • Those are the songs he got credit. What about the influence he got on the members of the band? That's something over which you don't get credit.

  • bull shit

  • true kirk is a badass

  • 1:03 - 1:11 so cool lars owns

  • james's voice is really lacking the intensity as the recorded version.

  • well forgive james , he is after all only 40 plus yrs old and still rocking the fuck out

    rock on Metallicaa! forever!

  • His voice kinda went south during this tour...but this was when the whole band was just burnt out after recording St. Anger...definitely their low point as a band.

  • yeah to bad they did not do a live version in 89-91 to catch that beastly voice. i admit they were stupid for not doing it sooner.

  • Dude, Lars is off time on some parts

  • stop hitting on lars' double bass, he is using it, look at his legs! you just can't hear it!

  • no double bass.. sry m8

i love metallica too but he's using 1 bass

hear: 2:02 4 examp if u cant hear the entire "double bass" part

  • that's exactly what we are complaining about, we can't hear double bass!

  • Most of his kit is triggered, but not to sample sounds. these triggers go to a "noise gate" which prevents the microphones from picking up the "ambient" noise the concert and only allows the sound of the hits to be heard. In concert, the kicks are very pronounced because of these, however, in the "LiveMetallicA" releases, the sound isn't recorded from the "noise gate" but from the microphones on the kick drum. This leads to what sounds like dropped notes, and missing double bass fills.

  • I heard that before. I just can't understand why double bass is so powerful when Lombardo played with Metallica (Download 2004) replacing lars left to the hospital. Just listen the awesome double bass fills at the end of 'battery'... Could Lars do that? I'm honestly sad to have doubts...

  • Becase Dave is miles better than Lars XD (a Huge Metallica fan speaking xD) anyone with a quarter of brain knows that,

  • I agree. Maybe Lars does not pratise enough, I noticed I was was really good live in 2007 while recording DM but in the tuning room he uses to always simplify his parts, the others actually don't!

  • haha te voice of James hetfieeld xD

  • nice little drum stick flip Lars did at 1:10

  • where's rob?

  • dubble bass

  • Great vid, not as good as when played now

  • I'm so glad James brought his voice back for Death Magnetic.

  • If James NEEDED to bring back his old voice for one song, it would be Dyers Eve.

  • hetfield loos like hitler with his hair

  • goood as fuck

  • :57- lol

  • it would be hilarious if lars dropped the stick at 1:10

  • He dropped it during Whiplash when I seen them in 08 in St. Louis

  • i know james has lost his powerful voice, but where is that espectacular roaring voice?

  • hey can any1 tell me if metallica is coming back to ft. lauderdale next year?

there coming in october this year but i cant go cuz i have class in colombia :(

  • lars??? no lo escucho

    donde esta lars????????????

    oriible

  • dude it is weird hearing bass in this song

  • That's because in the studio recording, they turned down Jason's bass really low.

  • Wasn't it Cliff Burton for And Justice for all? I might be wrong.

  • no, he died two years before. It was Jason
