Tatooine was the middle of nowhere. Why do they give a crap what happens in the rest of the galaxy?

Coruscant was the Empire's stronghold. Seeing the way the Empire took control in ROTS and has only gotten stronger since then, wouldn't any anti-Imperial celebrations be put down by force?

Only the one in Cloud City makes sense.

Remember this is Return of the Jedi. That probably wasn't meant to be Naboo. Naboo wouldn't have been thought up at that time. It just so happens it looks similar. And anyway, if someone is evil, it doesn't matter where they come from, their death would be praised. Eg Hitler, Saddam Hussein etc.

In the case of Coruscant, the empire has just been all but defeated. So no, probably not.

And Tatooine was still touched by the empire.

@mattdude90 The Naboo part was added in the 2004 DVD release, after Episode I and Episode II had already been released. It's Naboo.

Cloud City, Tatooine, and Coruscant were added in the 1997 Special Edition. The Jedi Temple and the Galactic Senate were added to the Coruscant section in the 2004 DVD release.

None of it was in the original, 1983 theatrical release. All of the planetary celebrations, except for Endor, were added beginning in 1997.

Palpatine made the system so he would be the absolute ruler, while everyone else fought amongst themselves. After Endor, the New Republic won more and more territory precisely because there was no single heir, everyone was infighting and the Imperial forces were split among them.

I liked the ending of the remastered dvd's (the scene that comes after the one above) .. but they could have added aging make-up to Hayden Christensen ... but if you look it from another perspective, this is the form that Anakin was before he turned evil and became Darth Vader .. But if they changed Hayden, they could also have added a new 3D Yoda and add an aged Ewan McGregor (just to make a link to the preqel series) no offence to Alec of course ..

Freaken star wars purists..you have to be the whinniest people on earth. This scene was awesome im so glad it was added it shows how the whole galaxy celebrates their freedom not to mention ties the prequels with the original trilogy. Also Hayden being added in was a good because as Obi Wan said Anakin died when he became Vader so this was the good version of Anakin.

The new republic didn't control half the planets pictured, most notably Imperial center was still under imperial control. The planet was not taken until later when a super star destroyer emerged from under its crust, and fled. Tatooine and Naboo were also still under imperial control also, so this ending isn't realistic.

It doesn't necessarily mean all of that is taking place at the same moment. We're seeing a montage of these places around the galaxy as they were freed over the coming months and years after the chain reaction starting at Endor.

Now that I think about it, Lucas putting young Anakin in didn't make any sense. Why isn't Obi-Wan a younger version of himself? Why only Anakin? If a Jedi can choose his best physical image after death, why didn't Obi-Wan choose his younger self? Then again, one can argue that Obi-Wan died a Jedi when he was old. However, Anakin the Jedi died back in Episode III and the older Anakin, Darth Vader, who died in episode VI was the Sith version.

They could probably appear as lobsters if they wanted to. Each of them are appearing as they'd like Luke to see them. It makes more sense that Anakin would appear as he last did before turning to the dark side. Why on earth would he choose to appear in a form that never existed? (an older uninjured man with a hairdo and body that he never had). Obi-Wan could appear young too, but Luke didn't know him like that so he wouldn't.

The Ewok song is much better than that stupid song they replaced it with, I balked at it the first time I saw the first ROTJ special edition.

Now that I have the original, un-altered version, I never watch the special editions with the altered Boba Fett's horrible Kiwi voice and the Evil looking Ghost of Annikin Skywalker at the end of Jedi and the horrible new celebration theme instead of the classic Ewok one.
