Gays aren't the same as str8s, as they can't produce kids on their own or provide both a mom & dad for the kids. Str8s can and they are better for society, so str8 should remain the ideal for society as 1 man: 1 woman and in turn 1 father: 1 mother for the kids.

CA (CA Family Code 297.5) & ME both offer the EXACT SAME legal rights to domestic partnership while still allowing the people to decide how they want to define "marriage".

False dichotomy means "a situation in which only two alternatives are considered, when in fact there are other options." He wasn't presenting two options. True that this country was founded on religion, but our fore-fathers had the brilliance to include a law-making system ensuring the law of the land would change with the times and never falter. I don't think a single person can speak on behalf of the moral ethics of 40 million black Americans living in this country. The black community is indeed largely based around a religious lifestyle, not all blacks are religious nor are all blacks anti-gay. I was simply making a comparison: blacks struggled to obtain their rights, we continue to struggle for ours. The principle is the same. I am not a homophobe and think Church and State should be kept separate and that there should be a law called Civil Unions which is applicable to any two people who want to be legally and lawfully joined with one another and let churches retain the terminology "marriage". In this way it equals the playing field for all without punishing people for their faith.

First of all I"m not gay. Married to my husband and I'm a woman. Second one does not choose their sexual attraction. Unless your saying you get sexually turned on by the same sex but just a change in though? hmmm..... that would make you bisexual. Now I don't know where you live but I live in liberal NY and never had any gay people shove anything down my neck. You don't have to have to agree with gays but you can give them equal rights!

Let me help you with something in case you did not know...living the "gay myth lifestyle" is a choice, so you dont have rights for a choice...a smoker doesnt have rights..so its not a civil rights issue. People under the web of the "gay myth" need counceling and education to help them with thier problems...like a drug addict needs help, they made a choice to poision themselves, a "so-called gay" chooses their lifestyle..I hope this helps.

Do you honestly think that counceling and an "education" can change your sexual prefrence? You also, say that people don't have rights for a choice. Thats not exactly true. Marriage is NOT a right. Is there a right to marry your sibling, parent or other immediate relative? No. More than 1 person? No. A person who refuses? No.
Marriage is a PRIVILEGE, not a right. And it really boils to: Should we allow for 2 moms w/o dad or 2 dads w/o mom to be of equal value for the kids as a mom and dad? Should we regard the sexes w/o emotional & psychological differences in how they relate to each other & kids?

Gays aren't the same as str8s, as they can't produce kids on their own or provide both a mom & dad for the kids. Str8s can and they are better for society, so str8 should remain the ideal for society as 1 man: 1 woman and in turn 1 father: 1 mother for the kids.
