If I may suggest. It would be ever so helpful to show the finished piece prior to instruction in order to give the student an idea of where they are going. It would also be helpful to see the palette once in awhile. Otherwise I am enjoying your instructions.
@sangreyenergia yes you can use acrylics for this, but you can't use it the same way as you see in the video's, you have to experement to learn the right way. i used it for a long time, but oil colours gets you way much better result then acrylics will.
Hi John - I have just signed up to the ACI programme - working on my first assigment - this is great tho - to see your work on you tube - thanks for posting.
Since I am an Alexander Art Certified Instructor, I use the techniques developed by Bill Alexander. I am fully authorized to instruct and demonstrate these techniques for everyone to learn, even the commenter.
I don't agree with this quotation. Good artists create and Pablo Picasso was a prime example of a good artist. Personally, I never cared for his art style, but one cannot argue the fact he was a creative genius.
@ArtistJGH I disagree with your statement about him being a creative genius.. he creatively borrowed or like he said "steal" (stole) from other artists to create his own signature style. Cubism was not his entirely he learned it from other artists in Paris who introduced him to it, such as Henri Matisse. Matisse showed him an African mask and other artifacts from the Congo and Picasso was inspired. Google Detail of Les Demoiselles d'Avignon by Picasso and African mask. Cheers!
@jarduli wet on wet technique was developed way the fuck before Ross or Alexander, it's not stealing, he's teaching a technique that's been around for years, there is no Ross or alexander technique, only wet on wet which they did not create, you sir have been schooled
@jarduli Bill Alexander was Bob Ross his teacher, so you could say that Ross should be sued :P and wet in wet painting techniques are used for a long time so none of these gents can sue anybody, since you can patent a painting technique. anybody can use any technique they want as long as they sign with there own name and not the name of the artist you copy.
I use oil paint. The canvas was first painted with black acrylic paint and dried. Then I painted oils on top of acrylic paint. This method is called "Mixed Media". The acrylic paint does not really mix with the oils as it is dry before I paint in oils.

@jarduli I doubt that anyone could be sued for using "his" technique. Just for the fact his tv show was to teach people how to paint.
