I can totally understand what was meant by the video . I am from a small town near Beckley , some of you may know it , Naoma. I loved growing up in Naoma and it is sad to see what has happened to it . The people and places I loved as a child are no more. It doesn't mean I don't still love it , it only means it is so sad to see it change . Yes, things are bad everywhere, but what touches me most is my own home town , I suppose that is true for us all whether it be Beckley,Naoma, Detroit , etc.

If you feel that bad about the area you should leave.

More to Beckley than that.. Drive on down the road a mile or so and you have some things. I have been all over and Beckley is one of the nicest towns I have been in. People are still relatively nice.....

In a national statistical ranking done a few years back, WV ranked 49th in the US of best places to live based on taxes, jobs, income, overall property values and education ...was an average of all factors of course...but the sad part is that this survey was done while Louisiana was under water...

I grew up in Crab Orchard (I love it) we moved to Beckley (10 minutes away) close to were this video is filmed and I hate it. I don't like our so called "city" As soon as I get the money I'm moving back to Crab Orchard.
There's so much that is wonderful about Beckley and Raleigh County. The library is a wonderful resource, I visit it every time I'm in town. The people there are very warm and helpful, and the resources in the West Virginia Heritage Room are outstanding.
