i would just like to say, it wasnt actually sinking, yes it took on some water but was still easily afloat.and they didnt tow it.it made its way back to its overnight berth under its own power..the news blew this way out of proportion

Just a few comments if I may. I read about this in the paper this morning. I didn't read about anybody swimming to shore. Everyone was recued from the boat. Regarding the windows. of course they were laminated glass. But one cubic metre of water weighs one tonne, or slightly less than the weight of a Toyota Corolla. A rouge wave could be hundreds of tonnes.

A freak wave hit the ferries windshield and smashed the front windows. A passenger was swept off the boat and the rest of them swam to shore. Everyone got to land safely. This was Tuesday Morning just before 9am 2/3/2011 in Worser Bay, Wellington, New Zealand

@electromagnetic22 your statement is almost correct the one passenger didnt get swept over board they jumped in cause they got scared and the others didnt swim to shore they put on their life jackets and waited to be rescued sorry just pointing it out and i should no i live in new zealand hope that helped with the facts;3

I'm not sure. I would be surprised if it did sink. I think they will tow it to the Chaffers Marina in Wellington's inner harbour. Will update this post when I find out
