  • The rest of the film shows what happened that led up to that. they all kissed the same groupie, who tells them that they were indistinguishable./ make their way through a series of unrelated vignettes, each being a different type of movie (a mystery, a war movie, a western,etc...). In each they try to deal with the fact they're real people in a real band that makes records for real people, but are also scripted characters in a fake TV band doing nothing but what the director wants them to.

  • The film is about the nature of free will, conceived and edited in a stream of consciousness style.

Head begins at the dedication of a bridge. As a local politician struggles with his microphone during the dedication speech, the "wacky, fun-loving" Monkees suddenly interrupt the ceremony by running through the assembled officials, to the sound of various horns and sirens.

  • The soundtrack includes: "Porpoise Song (Theme from Head)" (Gerry Goffin / Carole King) "Ditty Diego – War Chant" (Rafelson/Nicholson) "Circle Sky" (Michael Nesmith) "Can You Dig It" (Peter Tork) "As We Go Along" (Carole King/Toni Stern) "Daddy's Song" (Harry Nilsson) "Long Title: Do I Have to Do This All Over Again?" (Peter Tork) Excerpts from the film, spliced in random order that is not consecutive to the movie itself

  • Another part of the promotional campaign was placing "Head" stickers in random places. An urban legend has circulated for years that Jack Nicholson was arrested for trying to place one of these stickers onto the helmet of a New York City police officer while he was mounting his horse.

  • Description available at wikipedia

  • this was a forerunner of 'who killed bambi' really -

  • Good bye Good Bye Good Bye:

    RIP Davy Jones

  • Your comments are crass at best.

  • RIP Davy

  • Regarding the added comment "Artisticly [sic] they should have started credits here...", I disagree. That would have been more conventional, but they clearly weren't trying to be conventional, in making this film. The film's rule-breaking is no doubt one of the reasons it didn't do well in the box office, but now it seems like the right decision.

There's really not much point second-guessing something that was made 40+ years ago anyway. It's not like they're gonna go re-edit the film.

  • great to see it, but your comments are pretty annoying

  • screw this ima look for a torrent of this film!!!!!

  • That song after micky jumps in the water, sounds like Genesis!

  • I can't believe they show footage of the viet cong prisoner being executed.

  • STOP SAYING SHIT

  • why is this chick just swapping the monkeys spit around?lol

theyre the goddamn monkees, they should have 2 chicks for each of em.

  • I remember the theater I saw this at when I was a kid... and that it was a bizarre film... at least for a 9 year old. The opening song seems like a Pink Floyd premonition.... at least for a 51 year old.

  • @goducks20101 Ur talking to a fifteen yr old. I LOVE MONKEES AND BEATLES stuff!!! Trippy stuff is coolio. xD

  • @chumshot1 congrats, do you want a medal

  • @goducks20101 Most of Pink Floyd's earlier stuff was even trippier than that. Hehe.

  • Where's Torch Lady...and the main credits?

  • @sipsammy2 Head doesnt have opening credits

  • agh! no part 2??!?!?! WTH, stupid youtube, theyre so wierd!

  • They played the beginning in the Concert

  • Part 2?!?

  • Yeah Terrybrass I agree the beginning credits should have started while Micky was in the water.

  • Artisticly speaking, I agree with you

  • I completely agree with you....if they'd had the credits there it would have fitted perfectly.....you wouldnt have been bored by the credits...you had something to look and listen to...it works for Bond ;-)

  • where is part 2?

  • @isolovedabeatles Copywright stuff. I've tried, but they keep pulling it off my account.

  • @terrybrass thanks anyways

Correction: I found the full movie of the Monkees "Heads" on Veoh.com. You need to download Veoh webplayer on your computer/laptop in order to watch the entire movie. If not, you only can watch 5 minutes of the clip "Heads".

  • @terrybrass No problem, I found the entire movie on YouTube, but you have to download veoh web player in order to watch the entire movie. If you don't, you only get to see 5 minutes of the movie. I did not know that this movie was on Antenna TV last Tuesday, Friday morning and Saturday at midnight. I only watched the entire movie Saturday at midnight. This movie looks like the Monkees are the bad guys. I guess the producers wanted to kill The Monkees off.

  • @bubblebear83 i want antenna tv so bad. dyou know if verizon fios in southen CA will get it?

  • @holyshitdude91669 I don't have verizon fios or any cable. I only have regular digital public television. It is on Channel 5.2 (Antenna TV). The Monkees are now on Friday and Saturday nights from 11:00 p.m. - 12:00 a.m.

Saturday and Sunday afternoons from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. (repeats of the two episodes from the 11:00 p.m. - 12:00 a.m.). All the episodes of the Monkees are from its original broadcast and not the DVD version of the Monkees. .

  • @holyshitdude91669 I found out this week that the episodes are from its original broadcast and Antenna TV forgot to dub off the old NBC logo from the 1960's and played the Colex Entertainment logo at the end of the credit theme song Son of Gypsy.

  • @terrybrass Concerning your opinion on where the credits should have began, I say well spoken. I couldn't agree more.
