  • I'm not sure if this film's depiction of North Africans is entirely realistic...

  • Little gay sword though...

  • @hardcoreharcourt That's because it's not a sword, but a naval dirk. It was a long knife with a blade usually around 14"-16" long.

  • Lol everytime Hornblower picks up that Book someone disturbs him

  • 6.34 - Butchers, bakers and candlestick makers - bless 'em all! :-)

  • 3:10 but no one is ACTUALLY that stupid, though, are they......

  • @jimthehappymonkey1 You have to realise, you're dealing with people with different views and priorities to us in the 'West'. :-)

  • Most leaders should watch this series along with Sharpes Rifles. They could learn a thing or two about being a good leader and "earning" the respect of their men instead of demanding it!

  • At 1:01 Hornblower sounds like a bit of Jack Simpson's rubbed off on him when he tells Bunting he'll 'regret it' if he crosses him - See 09:08 of 'Horatio Hornblower: The Duel (Pt.9)'.

  • The Moors seem to have done well: A few cows for a bucket full of gold!

  • flying cows..........you don't see that everyday :)

  • @chapsticklolz "fetchez la vache!"

    *catapult twangs*

  • "I would consider it my duty to help speed your release from this world, sir"

At times like that, I LOVE Hornblower.

  • Those cows are amusing:

    Heave!

    Mooooooo

    Heave!

    Mooooooo...

  • poor cows they look soo cute

  • @9848674445 and tasty...

  • "Not half so satisfying as a nice bit of filet." Truer words never spoken!

  • @benvalentine123 Ay Ay Sir, and the same goes for life in the Army.

  • Poor Cows

  • HIPPY PEDA PERSON

  • Hornblower has got to be the BEST captain... Fair, generous, appreciative, brave, hands-on, firm, disciplined, respectful....

It is so great to see how he earns the thrust and respect of his crew. x

  • @jo123phoebe earns the thrust of his crew?

  • @jo123phoebe And instinctively he kept them healthy. Kept their bodies toned and their immune systems up. Had a possitive attitude and that keeps the immune system up. Feeding them so well made them feel that they were important also. When he thanks them, I wondered if any captain had ever done that. What they were doing was not only for themselves but would keep many in the fleet alive. They had purpose so they wanted to do their jobs well. The one is broken. Can't be fixed.

  • @Songsmirth I don't know about thanking the men, but General Bradley is said to have always said "please" when giving orders.

  • @jo123phoebe - Agreed! One of the hardest things any leader has to face is earning the respect of those that he or she must lead.

  • the cows are so cute in the harness haha

  • It was called the Great Plague or Great Pestilence at the time. "Black Death" was coined in 1833, if Wikipedia is to be believed.

  • 'Pestillence' was just a general term for 'disease' (from which we get the word 'pest'). At the time when the BD was common, it was called the Plague or the Bubonic Plague. It was so well-known and so feared that just the mention of the word 'plague' would ensure everyone knew what you were talking about.

  • Sorry did not watch all the way through -- I am an idiot.

  • The Marines are on shore with the Ambassador. Hornblower said so.

  • There is the chance they are out of uniform because of the unlikely hood of combat or by hornblowers orders.

  • yeah, they've probably been ordered to muscle in with the heavy labour, apart from the odd one or two left on security duty.

  • actaul at 7.50 you can see at least one marine so they proabably are all there

  • Where did the marines go, then?

  • it was probably an oversite of the producers

  • OMH yeah!!! ???

  • i think he means reclaim his future as a salior

  • Please, who can explain this to me:

When he said "each of us can find a maggot in his past, which will happily devour our futures; i give you the chance to reclaim yours" .. what does he really mean?

I don't understand if that "maggot" is a good think to save you from a dark future .. or he wants to say that everyone has his sins and a chance to start a better future each day.

Could someone clear this a little for me please?

  • To reclaim his future, not the maggot.

  • He gives orders to set sail while sitting on the hatch, wagging his finger. Natural command ability, that.

  • I like the music!!! Who's the composer?
