This is what really happened in Afghanistan. Their leftist government asked the USSR to come into its lands to help fight against radical religious fundamentalists. USA learned about this and created the Taliban, supplied various terrorist organizations with weapons, trained just so they can fight the USSR.
Using the weapons that USA provided to them, I might add.
And while the Soviets where in Afghanistan, the Tabibans where not terrorists. They where innocent people who tried to defend themselves against the evil communists.

The US sent money to the Majuahadin to fight the Soviet Union. The Taliban was actually a group that started in Pakistan that seized power during the height of the Civil War. Many members of the Mujahadin later joined the Taliban. And Bin Laden later who was also a member of the the Mujahadin started Al Quaida.

They left in 1989 cause they realize there is no ressources and nothing to win there.
But people, in 1989 The Warsaw Pact was abolished, and USSR had to sent back lot of ''borrowed'' mens and equipements. They also needed to solidify internal presence of the army to prevent uprising.

I never said that the Soviets didn't do similar things like the US, but than again the USSR never created a force that would deal a great blow to them or cause them to spend many millions of dollars on to fight. When the Taliban took control of Afghanistan they brought strict sharia law into place and did things like public beheading's and stoning's.

The US sent money to the Majuahadin to fight the Soviet Union. The Taliban was actually a group that started in Pakistan that seized power during the height of the Civil War. Many members of the Mujahadin later joined the Taliban. And Bin Laden later who was also a member of the the Mujahadin started Al Quaida.

Saying that USSR lost the afgan war is a lack of knowledge about this war and it's political implications both for USSR and Afghanistan.

The Free governement of Afganistan asked the helps of the soviets to fights ISLAMISTS in 1979. In 1980 they agreed to enter in massively.
They left in 1989 cause they realize there is no ressources and nothing to win there.
But people, in 1989 The Warsaw Pact was abolished, and USSR had to sent back lot of ''borrowed'' mens and equipements. They also needed to solidify internal presence of the army to prevent uprising.

The Soviets were there to support the Afghan government, and eventually simply withdrawed from the region in 1989. They didn't "loose" and were never really there to "win" anything in the first place. Read up on your history before making brash, opinionated, and blatantly moronic assumptions.

It was the blood of 2 million Afghans who defeated the Russians not your failed Bush foreign policy. We did recieve weapons and support from the West (particularly from the US) but that doesnt mean a straight victory, you also need to have the sacrific to achieve what you want.
