first heard this track on an old transistor radio in the back seat of a morris minor driving with my parents "up north" in the dark and cold......this is a moment of pure genius on everyone's part who was involved in making this track ... wonder if they still have the tape and can do a new version .. .or have they already done so? ...either way this is godlike
I would not say she lost her luster...times just changed. Her vocal artistry was at its PEAK from 1979 to 1986...such great tunes. Dionne Warwick is an artist for a lifetime. Her music is like that of the Beatles and Elvis Presley...it will never die.
Good art remains. Thanks for the beautiful legacy of music you left for us, Dionne.
From her 1962 debut to the Bacharach/David breakup in 1972, the experience of Dionne Warwick was magical. The LP "The Windows of the World" is one of her best from that musical alliance--not a single weak tune on the album. After the separation from Bacharach and David she lost her luster and never regained it, but she had a reign of 10 good years as one of the most enthralling artists in popular music.
