@stopglobalswarming Wow, that's awesome. I kind of like my video "Amanda Shaw - Lovers' Waltz " for a soft, relaxing song, or try "Amanda Shaw - Perridin Two Step". I'm sure you'll enjoy them all. Thanks!
back to listen to this again love it! i never played a fiddle but i want to learn. i play mandolin, guitar, keyboards, oboe, saxophone, trombone. I think i could play anything if i get my hands on it long enough
I can not speak French because the "good priests" beat my father and sister at school when they spoke French. So my father did not teach us because he did not want us to be abused by the Catholic church. However I ended up being schooled by some mean Canadian nuns who beat me because they thought I was an Anglo because I had an Anglo because I did not speak French.
@schultzee4748 that was very comman to people who lived near or went to a chatlic school my grandma said that her family spoke french at home and learned to speak eglish so in case they where ever found.
Sweet, this beats the heck out of most of the crap played at Christmas time. I like it when a fiddle player isn't afraid to use the full length of the bow.
Dans a Carre is the name of the tune. It translates to In the Square. The New Orleans French Quarter is also known as the Vieux Carré, Old Square. The square being Jackson Square.
The song is "Danse Carre'", Square Dance. Cajuns were weren't allowed to speak French at school, much less write or spell it; therefore the names of songs often got lost.
I fell for Amanda when I saw the Katrina movie at the Omni. Amanda narrated much of it and it featured her fiddle playing and story, too. She makes playing the violin at rapid speed look as easy as breathing. Excellent!
i agree with mybudjc that her recent videos and playing aren't nearly as crisp and clear on the fiddle as when she was much younger. i prefer her first videos when she was 14 & 15 and her playing then.
Don't worry, Amanda has not gone down hill. In fact, she sings better now than she ever has. Amanda is 18 years old now. Some people want to to still perform like she's 8 years old. She was an adorable phenome. But kids grow up. It's a fact of life. Amanda has remained an phenominal talent and a precious young girl. I'm proud of her.
Charles and Renee have done a great job raising both Amanda and Andrew. I enjoy chatting with Charles at Amanda's shows. I think Amanda is a smart young lady with her head on straight. She's a true role model for our youth.
Amada is great! However I hope she doesn't destroy her career by using drugs!! Many have gone down in glory because of drugs. She looks good here but in the other videos she looks high? And does not play will at all. Amada don't do drugs, they will kill you and your talent!
Did you go to Amanda's birthday bash at Rock-n-Bowl last Saturday? I missed it. I had to take my daughter to Morgan City to compete in a tournament. See my latest videos.
that old guy is not havin any fun at all, amanda is ,was and im sure always gonna be great but damn smile old guy!!

Is the guy on the guitar Dans a Carre or is that the name of the tune? My francais is lousy.
MacTheWolf56 3 years ago
Dans a Carre is the name of the tune. It translates to In the Square. The New Orleans French Quarter is also known as the Vieux Carré, Old Square. The square being Jackson Square.
Kicks001 3 years ago
Dans le Carré would mean "in the square",
Dans un Carré would mean "In a square",
But "Dans a Carre" means Dans has Carre (Dans being someone or something, and Carre being the object that Dans has).
Spatcher 3 years ago
The song is "Danse Carre'", Square Dance. Cajuns were weren't allowed to speak French at school, much less write or spell it; therefore the names of songs often got lost.
Dennis Magee recorded a version, some years ago.

Wow, thats all I can say, I have a new respect for the cajun's judging by this girl, they play better then the irish, by far.

She has talent, I won't deny that, but you didn't respect Cajuns until you heard her?
