(For any of you who don't know what cadence is - "A fall in pitch of the voice at the end of a phrase or sentence")
Also practice some simple staccato'd scales to improve your accuracy. At times I can hear you frantically trying to find the correct pitch as you come in to the word(s). And work on that EQ (if you EQ'd it at all lol).
Other than that, good job :)
PISS OF 'HATER-BASHERS', THIS IS CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM .
Nice one man, seriously. Would be nice to hear a version with just your vocals though, to get some clarity on what I'm hearing. But you got that pretty darn close. Loving it.
I swear I can hear your Aussie accent a tad (From a Kiwi xD) Anyway dude nice cover, you got a nice tone to ya buddy. Would like to hear you with the instrumental version!
dude, get a better gear, and the instrumental version of the music... Your voice sounds too much like Elliot Coleman, their new singer... Btw, nice vid, dude... as said, lil pitchy here and there, but still a nice work.. gratz ;P
Your fall off is really abrupt and sharp. Work on the way you approach the end of a held out note so that there isn't that little pop in your voice and that small little exhale. It cuts through your mix and having the original version over it makes it apparent.
Can't concentrate. You are way too attractive. Still, from what I could pay attention to, you did pretty well. I think you only hiccuped minimally on the tune tbh, & I think you hold down your notes really well. Good job dude.
Also, I'd like to take a moment to marvel at the fact that TesseracT has Aussie fans. Wow!
Mate, all the way from the UK. You are sick dude! Would love to do an overseas collab if you're game? Currently play in and write most of the material for This Murder of Angels from Scotland, hit me back!
you sould get the track without voice, cause you are not well templed with the other voice, so the minimum diference of tone will be perceptible with a subtle disonance. Try to make vibratto to close a phrase, do not imite the real song cause that's not a cover. Make it your way, is your cover.
I totally think you need to redo this over an instrumental version. Why? It has nothing to do with your tone or anything, cause let's face it, you're NOT Dan, no one is, no one will do the same thing as him. But that,s the same for ANY band. I think you need to do just the instrumental so he's not there clashing with you and it's all you.
nice job dude! oh and btw:) using an sm57 for vocals is no problem at all:) it's exactly the same miq as an sm58 except for the cup plus originally the SM's were named after what they were made for StudioMic, SM:) and this sounds a lot better then a lit of people with cheap or fancy condenser mics, you still also have to know how to mix it:) so great job dude!
Also, harsh vocals are my focus primarily in my spare time. You'd be good at screaming, judged by the amount of stamina in this video, tad pitchy but yeah the song is heaps long.
Yeah, its really off. Youre just harmonizing with Dan, and not even doing the hard parts...You should stick to Emo/Hardcore trend boy. Leave Djent to real musicians
Ouch, sorry but i think it sounds off key maybe you're pushing yourself to much maybe you had a cold I don't know but keep on it obviously there is the potential to be a great singer.
@nameless12345 He is slightly out of tune at some moments... but: what you said is stupid. Because: with the actual vocals behind it you hear false notes even more, so it would probably even sound better without original voice
@StrategyOfPersuasion Dude, where in sydney do you live? Want to collaberate on some djenty music? Long time drummer here, am going to start putting together a project, using 8dio to have guitars and synth. Anyway obviously your voice is great, get back to me :)
Weird! Your vocals sound a lot like mine. I wanted to cover this song, and was wonder who else had done it, and came across this. It's very well done man, little pitchy at times, but I like it, good voice.
@JoshMaxwell3 thanks heaps! yeah the pitchiness is probably a result of me not mastering using my head register yet but ill get there i hope! You should man! Would love to hear it!
I recommend to you dvd "Zen Of Screaming" by Melissa Cross (If you have not seen this). Part 1 and 2. Part one - all about clean voice. And part two - all about screaming. This is really amazing thing. By the way, Dan (from Tesseract) has learned to scream thanks to this dvd. He said this in an interview.
Also, i get this scream. This is the holy bible for vocalist.
On second thoughts, maybe it has been your voice all along. I listened to some subtleties in the original recording, and your intepretation of those subtleties is much different than his, notably the little sigh at 2:27. But for someone to get your voice so confused with the and the vocalist of a wellknown band is a very good thing! I think you're pretty damn good.
Good stuff man. I had to look up the original song to be able to tell which was you and which was the dude. Do you have the original vocal recording to upload without the backing track or with it a lot quieter?
@CalebRexAlexander thanks man. yeah i didnt want to make it too loud and unfortunately i couldnt find an instrumental version. I EQ'd the vocalist out a little bit and panned the original left and my vocals right so maybe try and listen to the right speaker/headphone only? :)
Fucking good job dude :D
