  • HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELP I have 2 .GHO files. EEEPC1.GHO and EEEPC2.GHO. What must i do?

  • @funnyvideosforlive How big are they? You may need to copy both to the HDD.

  • @steve6375 the first one is about 1.3 GB and the other one about 800MB

  • @funnyvideosforlive Try the 1.3GB first. The other one may be for a different partition or it may be for the same partition. Are there any instructions in the manual which may give a clue?

  • @steve6375 no, sorry. So i now have to try exactly what you did, with the 1.3 GB one, and then reboot and do the same with the 800mb one?

  • @funnyvideosforlive ooh i see what you tried to tell me! first do it with the 1.3GB one, then the program is STILL RUNNING, and then do it with the 800MB one.

  • @steve6375 Imagine i need to use both, how do i have to select both in GHOST32 on the newbook?

  • @funnyvideosforlive Select first one - restore to HDD, then select 2nd one - restore to HDD.

  • @steve6375 I got Ghost running now with the 1.3GB file. my first XP was installed on the small disk, but this time i put it to the large disk. but now im thinking: if i do this, and after this i want to do this with the 800mb file, wont the 800mb file, which i will place in the same disk as the 1.3GB file, overwrite the 1.3GB file because it automaticly formats or something?

  • @steve6375 Steve, I was playing around a bit, trying some things and booooooom, the oobe\title song and the message windwos xp installation. thank you for using ASUS blablabla. VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY much thank you from holland! Steve, you made my life a bit better. this is the first time something actually worked. thanks thanks thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @funnyvideosforlive No problem - did you just use the 1st ghost file? The other file may be for another partition perhaps? Why not checkout my website for other projects - e.g. run Ubuntu or Windows 8 from a bootable USB!

  • @steve6375 i used both. when i put them to the larger partition it didnt work because i messed things up a bit the previous time, but when i just put it to C, it worked when i first used the 1.3 one, and then the 800mb one. by the way, i'm now trying to connect that netbook to the internet, but it says something like it depends on y ou connection if it is 128 or 256 bits. please insert 8 to 63 ascii or 64 hexadiagonal signs. thats what popped up after i put in the correct code.

  • @funnyvideosforlive That sounds like the password prompt for a WPA or WEP wireless connection?? I would check code is correct and has not been changed...

  • @steve6375 your right. be the code is absolutely correct ;) i tried with and without capitals etc. but it keeps giving that error. i was mad and typed 000000000000 in the box. it started connecting but nothing happened. i put in the correct key again, and suddenly it tried to connect but it keeps on saying getting network adress. just like i put in an incorrect code! strange...

  • @steve6375 uh ooh, Steve, it seems like i'm in trouble again...

I again wanted to reinstall my windows, so i did everything you did in the video again, launched GHOST from the usb, selected the first ghost image, directed it to the first disk ( C partition ), and put it on. after the recovery was completed, i AGAIN did the same with the second ghost image. after that one was fully recovered, i restarted the computer. but nothing happened! what must i do?! please steve, help me!

  • @funnyvideosforlive Try again - maybe just put 1st image on and see if that boots? You will just have to keep trying. What do you mean by nothing happened (no text on screen, no error message, did not boot - what?).

  • @steve6375 Figured it out! two images for two drives! the first one, the most important one goes the disk 1 and the second, small 800mb one to the second drive! it's as easy as that! by the way sorry for almost SPAMMING you but i'm a computer rooky, but i'm trying to learn. you are a great helper. but now i have ANOTHER QUESTION for you. with which connection can i use my WIFI? DSL or LAN? you have to choose between these in the windows setup.

  • @funnyvideosforlive If you have an ethernet connection choose LAN, if you have ADSL WiFi choose DSL

  • @steve6375 i chose LAN but i got it all figured out i used the wrong internet code. im typing this happy from my cool , working like brand new, fresh windows install WITH internet! Thanks for all the help!

  • WOW Steve! this was very scary! after step for, i went to "my computer' then slected my usb, then right-clicked, pressed eject usb and then my computer froze and i had to shut it down with the power button!

  • @funnyvideosforlive That should not happen! Anyway that is not in the video - please follow the video steps.

  • can this all be done in this way:

i do everything shown in the video on computer A to actually use the usb trick on computer B?

  • @funnyvideosforlive Yes. Any Windows computer can be used to make the USB stick. Then install onto EeePC.

  • @steve6375 Thanks! i wanted to know because i dont want to harm my parents' laptop you see! i will follow the steps in the video on the laptop, then plug the usb into my own netbook ( eeepc901 ) and install windows xp onto it. i will tell you if it worked. thanks for help!!!

  • Music??

  • @LatePresents see credits

  • Comment removed

  • Thanks so much. This is the first time I had to boot from a usb and I lucked out with this video. Thanks so much!!!

  • Some of my files had different names and different sizes to....don't worry, it will work people

  • Thank you Steve!! My EeePc is ready to fight again :) wonderful tutorial yeeeeeey :)))))))))

  • i lost my cd

  • Thank you Steve, a very helpful vid... thank God for the internet

  • will it work for asus b202? at 2.15 when you make changes to winpeshl_ini do you save notepad as ansi and at 4.35 should i use ""copy&paste"" or ""copyto"" .

    thanks.

  • @FightingNemo (in order) I don't know. You will have to try it. Save in same format as you open it with (usually ANSI). Anything you like as long as the file looks the same as shown!

  • I don't know. Why not copy all 3 but try the EEEPC-Dut.GHO first (if this is the large one)

  • Please Steve6375... (I refer to your video at 4.30 min., copying the large GHOST image file).

I have 3 files in that ASUS DVD Recovery folder. (1001HA Asus netbook)

    - EEEPC-DUT.GHO (1)

    - ENVIR (2) ....and

    -envir.GHO (3)

Copying the first file (EEEPC-DUT.GHO) will be good enough? (This will work)?

  • thank you SOOOOOOO much! tried other methods and failed. this worked like a charm!!!

  • help!!!!! I use a 500GB external hard drive instead of a USB, and did everything like you've shown, however when I tried to boot the EEEPC with my hard drive, it said: " SETUPLDR:Couldn't open drive multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)"

please tell me what hv I done wrong~ thanks

  • @tea0403 This video is about installing XP to the internal hard drive on an EeePC from a USB drive - it is not about installing XP onto a USB drive of any sort.

You cannot use this method to install XP to a USB drive as XP will not boot from a USB drive only an internal hard drive (unless you modify the XP installation files first but that is quite technical/difficult).

  • @steve6375 that is quite simple! use flash boot to create a usb bootable stick and u can easly install windows using it, i just did that last night on my asus eee pc, when everything else failed! this is the simple way to go! trust me! Its easy and it takes less than 1 hour! :D

  • Have been struggling with this for days trying things from random posts. This worked straight away. Great job!

  • Great job! Works like a charm! ;)

    Thanks a lot!

  • Good job!

  • Ty very much for this video! I was able to fix my sister Eee PC. Also I was payed $10.00 :) I give u all the credit tho man! Thanks a lot!!!!

  • Please note that the the 'BartPE to USB' check box (near 5 COPY OS FILES ...) is not automatically checked in RMPREUSB v2.1.1 (the latest as of this posting. It is *essential* this is checked in order to get the flash drive to boot properly.

  • This was quick. You are right. I tried disk to disk. Not the option you just mentioned. I will do it again bacause I managed to install XP profesional to my Eee PC 4G but I need to activate it. Still I only have 300 MB left.

I let you know if it worked.

    Thank you again

  • I ment that to prepare all the files for the USB pen drive I used a PC with VISTA OS. After that I booted my Eee Pc with that pendrive. Everething run ok until Ghost started, is then when I recieved those messages.

    Thanks for your answer

  • @stjepo OK, what options did you select in Ghost? You must choose restore from Image and not restore from disk as you need to select the .gho file on the USB pen as the source.

  • I used a PC with VISTA OS. Everething goes well until Ghost starts. An error message appears : "A source volume could not be locked as it is used by another process. Do you wish to attempt to forde a dismount....." after accept another message: "A source volume could not be locked (640)"

    Any help?

  • @stjepo What do you mean by 'I used a PC with VISTA OS' - Do you mean you tried to run Ghost under Vista? You are supposed to boot from the USB pen before you run Ghost. Please describe step by step what you did or go to rmprepusb website (see info) for more help

  • SO i lost my support dvd can i downlaod any winpe.iso?

  • I did this on a 1001ha works perfect. thank you very much :)

  • Can you give details. What Model of EeePC have you, what DVD did you use?

  • shit, i have a error messege.

file \minint\system32\ntoskrnl.exe could not be loaded.

    the erro code is 4

setup cannot continue press any key to exit.

    you know what's that?

  • @khan1346 You need to give more details (without swearing please or I won't help!). Does the file exist on your USB drive? If so and you used an EeePC DVD as the source and not an ordinary XP CD and you followed the instructions correctly, you may have a faulty USB pen. Try testing it with the TEST button and then if it passes, follow the instructions again.

  • @steve6375

now everything is good, but after the xp logo fatal error:(

  • thx man. i will try.
