I wish Mick and Jeff would have sang more songs, kind of like kiss where everybody got a few. This is one of my favorite cd's, I love that the solos are all electric.
I LOVED Dokken in the 80's. That was my band above all bands..I saw Reb with them on the one album and tour he did. I loved the way he fit in that band, and I don't often. I saw George on their last tour together, and he looked miserable... Good move. That REVOLUTION disc was magnificent! As for Dokken, no other guitar dude has done as good an album with them since "Erase The Slate" which actually made up for that "Shadowlife" disaster. The reunion album with Lynch was pretty cool...
its good stuff...jeff does a good job with "you just got lucky" as well...most bands have folks that can play other instruments or sing or write songs...when dokken arrived on the scene...don was the better choice to front the band...if either jeff or mick would have fronted the band in the 80s, i dont think they would have been successful
I saw them do a set like this in Providence, RI around 1992 or so and they rocked. Lynch, of course, did not sing (they used to keep his mic unplugged!).
How come all the old songs sound better without Don's nasal sound. The songs are great and Don just made it on top. but who would have bought Pilson or Brown albums...
I use to have the CD to this. It's actually quite Good I Love that they Played all their songs in Acoustic. This Band never gets the Credit which they deserve.
HELL YEA MICK!!!! GREAT JOB!!! NO MATTER WHO IS SINGING LEAD VOCALS, DOKKEN'S HARMONY ALWAYS SOUNDS HUGE! WHAT A GREAT ROCK BAND TO BE ABLE TO PULL THIS OFF EFFORTLESSLY NIGHT AFTER NIGHT AND IN THE STUDIO.....SOUNDS LIKE CHORUS GROUP SET UP ON STAGE BACKING THEM UP, AND THEN YUO LOOK AND ITS JUST 3 MOUTHS AND 3 MICROPHONES KICKIN' ASS AND SOUNDING LARGER THAN LIFE! THANKS DOKKEN FOR YOUR TIMELESS MUSIC THAT HELPS ME GET UP WHEN I'M DOWN! Bless, ~ Blaise ~
I will never forget the day that Steve Brown (Micks little brother) came to school and said "my brothers in the Don Dokken band, their gonna be big !" and we all said " yeah right kid, whatever" . The next year every kid in school had a Dokken t-shirt !!!!
very true, i beleive reb is abetter player but he doesnt have the right sound, his legato tapping and more technical playing isnt right for dokken espectially after hearing george lynch's more crude less technicall playing and that awsome classical sound he has!!!
@LOSHOMBRES123 Reb Beach had a nervous breakdown after thier tour. Got his final paycheck and went into hiding in Malibu. I think he did mountain climbing for about two years and was never heard from again. lol
Oh yeah!!! Great stuff from a great band. I can't stand to watch/listen to the newer versions with Reb playing guitar. Yes, he is good, but he is not Lynch/Pilson. Accoustically unbelievable and awesome... Even Don himself appears to be having a good time if you watch all the videos from this concert. After all, Dokken ryhmes with Rockin'
Ditto all of that, especially about REB. He ain't shit when it comes to Lynch's stuff. This is not to say his own music sucks, I really don't know and don't care and I would never buy REB's work anyway. I does the best he can as a copyCAT when playing with Dokken, I guess
Very nice! I just signed into You Tube a few weeks ago. My son (a budding guitarst taught by me) emailed Pilson regarding my JHS days with him. I have been listening/watching Dokken/lynch/Pilson,etc vids ever since. This DVD is extremely remarkable. I agree, I wish they all could find what it takes to reunite ~ life is too short to let attitudes dictate. I say, email all of them daily until us fans get what we want. MORE DOKKEN!!!!! Bring it on...
I want a Dokken reunion myself. However, Don can't seem to sing well. Look at some of the recent vids for Dokken touring in Europe. Goerge Lynch can still shred though. He has plenty of Sam Ash vids floating around.....
Proof positive, a band with frightening depth! I prefer Don's voice, but there's no denying that Mick Brown can wail ! Just wish Georgie was willing to re-unite !
