KRS was just feeling himself - he had a little entourage, he was seeing some light, had made a name for himself (doing what he accused pm dawn of doing!!) and now he couldn't be dealt with. He was in jerk mode.
I'm glad to hear he apologized but if you asked me that should've hurt his career. If he'd have been real he'd have taken it to the stage. As far as pm dawn's crew raising up - they should have! It was their set! You heard Dres - whoever tries to come on our stage, handle them!
Thx for posting. He can talk shit now b/c that shit was back-in-the-day... But no mf wanted w/ the TEACHER esp then! As for you lame brain ass bitches who are saying KRS sounded like an idiot clear do NOT know what the fuck you are talking about! PM Dawn took shots @ KRS, NWA, & a few other groups 1st! So they got dealt w/! KRS already addressed that minor shit by apologizing... He apologized publicly & personally to PM Dawn. Just go right here--> (follow the arrow). He made amends! FUCK snelly!
i heard krs talkin about this so all you hating need stfu. first off he apolgized n recognized that what he did was wrong n said that at that time he was more ignorant...another thing is krs said when he went on the stage he went to battle p.m dawn on some mc battle shit because p.m dawn was talkin about him bdp and other rappers in a magazine...but when krs one stepped on stage p.m dawns crew got up like tryin to come at them so bdp had to lay the law down lol..thats really what happend...
Yeah, it was intense & controversial, but it made the necessary statement. It wasn't about just plain ego ... i believe it was that, plus the Teacha restoring some accuracy to a newer artist who spoke some shit. Listen to how Dres explains how Kris then took the mic & killed it... he did this, prepared to do a set on the spot (not sure if he was on the bill originally). He gave a boom-bap lesson & restored accuracy to BDP & the culture. As someone said below, it was the Old-School way.
One of the things i remember Kris saying about the incident is that Prince Be had been critical in an interview, mentioning something about KRS/BDP and Kris had his opinion that what Prince Be said was inaccurate & unwise. Basically, PB spoke w/out thinking. Being who Prince Be was and KRS being what KRS was, Kris felt his name & what he reps shouldn't be coming outta Prince Be's mouth... and if it does, show some historical accuracy, everyday logic & respect.
seems weak to me that KRS 1 tryed to "teach" respect by trying to force and demand it. I thought respect was something was earned, thats the only way someones ever gotten it from me. lost alot of respect for KRS 1 on this one. guy is full of contradictions.
@topbikeblaster . this event happened very early in his career (about 1984-1985) back then krs was not as laid back as he is now, trust me this man has earned his respect. if he didn't he would not be relevant in 2010 (from 84-85)
@Renthefaceless no he didn't, krs heard his song I Am Number 1 and interpreted it as a diss when nelly never even referred to krs in the song. so krs started the beef
thats hiphop son it aint the first time fools got thrown off the stage krs kept it real better that then on some REAL pussy shti and pulling out a gun.
Prince Be and DJ Minutemix must have found this page.
