  • Steve Albini is awesome.

  • This is not a shit video you fucking morons. It''s just minimal. Who fucking cares? There's more than one way to shoot a good video you narrow-minded fucking twat-ass cunts.

  • RAWK!!!

  • great style, great voice, great energy, and GREAT song with a great attitude hehe. i loooove pj harvey!!!!!!

  • I loved this album where this track is taken from , seems like some years have passed. Her music surpasses her image by a long shot which is more important .

  • Weak video? Maybe. The song rocks the shit, though.

  • hehehehehehehehehe

    50 ft weenie

    hehehehhehe

  • "You bend over/Casah-Novah!"

  • pj is too hot for words

  • quote beavis and butt head thinks pj harvey looks like malarie from family ties uhuhuh this chicks weird

  • tell you my name F.U.C.K

i got fined for having a tshirt that had that on it.. stupid cops.

  • PJ f---ing rocks!!!! there's no one better, i'm a die hard Radiohead, Tool/APC, and NIN fan, and they have nothing on her, NOTHING!!!!!can't wait for a new solo album, info anyone?thanks. waiting patiently. (not really).

hey , it was 1994, give 'em a break huh? i like the vid, it's raw and in your face, just like PJ, awesome.

  • im the king of the world im only 6 inches long

  • You know, if you're going to criticize her music, do it directly and make a valid arguement instead of insipid little disses. And why do you go out of your way to attack her? I've seen you on most of the PJ Harvey videos on youtube. It's not like she's constantly being praised by the media or squealing tweens/teens. There's very little provocation for your attacks.

  • I saw her on the "To Bring You My Love" tour at CU Boulder. Raw, and also refined. A great show. There are few acts that can touch Polly Jean Harvey, in my opinion.

  • "you bend over ... casanova" -- you just can't top that line ... 50 FT QUEENIE!!!

  • 'drop your drawers, all you male whores' (you get a cookie if you know what i'm talking about.)

  • Peaches / "Stick It" - from her Album "Impeach My Bush" ---However, no cookie for me ... I cheated (looked it up on google) I never heard of Peaches, but I love that album title and, thanks to you, will check her out ... gonna youtube her right now ...

  • She's like a fish in the Atlantic.

  • Incredible Incredible Song!!!!!!!!!!

"Still grabs me by the balls" - Damn right!

Totally shit video.... I mean come on - did you really have to do it all in one take? .....Really? Reeeally???

  • it's not in one take.

    but yeah weak video.

  • Saw this on Beavis and Butthead. Ran out to buy the CD. Rid Of Me ROCKS!

  • lol on the movie??

  • It's impossible to explain how different this song was when it first came out! A friend and I sat in my car, volume on as high as it would go, and we literally couldn't speak... We were in awe because we'd never heard anything like this before. Hell, it still grabs me by the balls, but given the musical landscape that it came out of, it makes it even more impressive.

  • the same situation in the car loud as we can not hear each other and stonedddddd!!

  • great song - great Polly , thank 4 the post ... Really Amazing ^^

  • This song is a good confidence booster. I wish I could have it as an alarm for when I wake up.

  • i only just bought 'rid of me' by pj harvey 3 days ago and I've listened to it about 6 times tonight. This is a bloody great song. Awesome musician too, she likes Pixies, Jimi Hendrix and Ennio Morricone :)

  • This is rock 'n roll.

  • music this good makes me wish I grew up in the 90s. todays stuff just can't compete

  • Here here!

  • I did grow up in the nineties, and I'm thankful for it everyday.

At least the music will always be here, and in PJ's case, she's still active and making new music still.

  • When will she bring out songs like these again. I just miss the guitars on her last album!!!

  • This song is amazing. I've listened to it 4 times today and it's gets better each time.

  • this is meant to be the highest form of flattery but does she make you think of a young patti smith. she even looks a bit like her.

  • heh, heh....heh, heh,...its Mallory...MALLORY! MALLORY!

  • i believe you're looking for juliette lewis. Try searching for Faith sings Hardly Wait.

  • Not sure I understand you. I make a Beavis and Butthead reference, then you direct me to a song that PJ covered from Strange Days???

  • ya my bad i thought you were referring to mallory from natural born killers. And i just love that cover.

  • Love it! She's my idol! :)

  • Gotta love that punkabilly-meets-thrash metal sound!

  • Enjoy....

  • The best non-Nirvana artist from the '90's end of story....fuck Radiohead

  • I like Radiohead, but she is second on my list of 90s artists, too.

Behind Nirvana of course. My favorite band, not only of the 90s, but of all time.

  • Yeah...Since Kurt Cobain killed himself, Sleater-Kinney went on "extended hiatus" (read:took the money and ran), and Radiohead has become bloated beyond belief, PJ's really the only truly uncomprimising, consitently creative artist we have left from the great decade that was the 90's. (Also, "Stories from the City, Stories from the Sea" is the best album ever made)

  • no not fuck radiohead theres a reason why he did so many vocals on "stories..."... BOTH rock

  • PJ Harveys body of work is as thick as she is skinny and its amazing how often this is lost sight of [ she spits music more accomplished than, say, The White Stripes, on her way to bathroom] but.....not so fast with the easy notion that Radiohead is bloated. They play with joy, brains and conviction. And, to go off course for a moment, never forget the excellent musings of Tom Waits, a man so authentic he can go out on Halloween as entirely Himself.

  • PJ is always fresh because she consciously makes sure she doesn't sound too familiar.

I've never like Radiohead anyway. I always thought they were pretentious.

  • Ok everyone! I have to say something! I always imagined her married to Daniel Ash! There I said it! I think they'll look great together!

  • maybe not married but it would be an awesome album!

  • I wonder who this was about 'cause it was written before Paris Hilton.

  • The only thing I have to thanks Beavis and Butthead for is introducing me to this incredible song. I still think she looks like Mallory from Family Ties in this vid. :)

  • shades of "Attack of the 50-Ft. Woman",LOL!!

at last we get to see this video!!

PJ Harvey at her wildest singing and frantic

    guitar playing...

BTW,trivia: the Harvey coat-of-arms and the

Hewitt coat-of-arms (such as Jennifer Love

    Hewitt) both originated in Dorset,England...

  • I wish I was a dude so I could marry her.

  • HA! Well, I'm not married to her yet. There's always tomorrow.

    ;)

  • A kick ass song this is!! LOVE IT!!

  • This song was the shit!

  • There's so much power in this song.

    Love you, Polly!

  • that fuckin guitar break is right up there with the ledgends!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and thats the fuckin truth that is. get some! what a killer sound too......

  • this song kicks ass ... crank it up then TRY to keep your feet still --- death by polly jean??? --- i can think of worse ways to check out --- LOVE IT, LOVE HER

  • This song gets me hype every time I hear it

  • She's so sexy. And I'm so fucking old.

  • PJ Harvey just fuckin' rocks. I don't give a crap that this song's, like, 14 years old--to me, it's fresh and original as if it just came out yesterday.

  • This is in my top , i was going to type 20 but no, 10 songs of all time.5?...

  • timeless classic... loved it in 94 and still as good now

  • my favorite part of this video is where she hoists up her dress at 1:45. Classic.

  • PJ could probably start mosh pits with this song

  • love her shoes. really.

  • Bitch Whore Goddess of the Apocalypse

    All should worship her

  • Awesomeness. I used to have a pic of her from this vid on a t-shirt. I miss that shirt. :(

  • You bend ova, Casanova!

  • best lyric ever

  • rock

  • rock

  • What is this song actually about?

  • A woman who's more fucking bad-ass than any man

  • "Heh-heh. Hey Beavis. 50 foot WEENIE. Huh-Huh-Huh."

  • great song! one of my favorites...

  • I LOVE how she laughs at the end! Oh PJ, how I love thee!!!

  • shes nearly as big as me

  • no woman around that can rock like her!

  • i agree 100%.

  • Dry and Rid of Me, the albums I mean; are 2 of the best played, written, and produced albums of the past 20 or more years.

Makes me wonder why Courtney Love ever bothered crawling out of...whatever hole she crawled out of...was obsolete before the fact.

  • steve albini slaughtered some of her best songs on "Rid of me", also it has the pointless mansize sextet and the brutal cover of highway 61 revisited. Dry is excellent, but i reckon that "to bring ye my love" was the best

  • Have to agree with you on that one. Albini's production suffocated an otherwise fantastic album. "Stories from the City" is my personal favorite, but everything she's done is great.

  • While I don't see what you are saying about Rid of Me, I am in agreement with you on Stories. That album ranks among my all time favorites.

  • What's he's saying is that while Rid of Me is one of PJ's most inspired, fantastic records, it was prevented from being her all-time masterpiece by Albini, who is more suited to artists like the Pixies or Nirvana, who rely more on grinding guitar feedback, than PJ, whose style is more spare, heady, and blues-oriented. It's still a fantastic record.

  • I don't think she really has a style, since each album seems to be quite different from the previous one. In my opinion, Dry and Rid of Me are the two that are the most alike. The latter just had a bit more oomph added to it, much like Surfer Rosa was to Come On Pilgrim for the Pixies. Based on what the album's wiki page says, she chose to work with him and made the album she wanted to make, so it seems unfair to blame Albini.

  • Hmmm, very good point. Rid of Me is one of my favorite records of hers, 3rd behind To Bring You My Love and Stories from the City. IMO, ROM was the best album of 1993. Now that I think about it, the only problem I have with it is that PJ's vocals are buried way too far under the guitar noise, and I think that it's weird for such a fantastic vocalist to be drowned out by that. Nevertheless, Rid of Me is a top-notch record, as is her whole catelogue

  • May I interrupt here. THIS is how arguing should happen. So sublime it falls below radar. Arguing points, yes, but very well written. Informative coupled with informed opinion. Great read! Thanks, both of you, for the info.

    Cheers!

  • How can ANYONE call Man-Size Sextet pointless?! It's brilliant!

  • "you bend over, Cassanova." Love it.

  • ahhh 90's!

    Can somebody be that sarcastic??

Just her. That's why I love Her!!

    Thanks

  • one of my favorites!

  • I think her first albums were the best of her career

Uh Huh Her doesn't fall behind, though

  • classic pj!

  • hey i'm the king of the world. U wanna hear my song? U come on measure me... i'm 50 inches long!

She is the 50 ft queenie, and we love her! Especially the giggle at the end.

So, just to re-enforce what others said... PJ is goddess

  • Talent, art and no bullshit!!!!

  • ownage

  • I remember watching this on Beavis & Butt-Head, it was hilarious haha!!!

  • Alongside Chrissie Hynde as the best female rock star ever.

  • i agree completley

  • how can u even mention avril lavigne in the same sentence as pj harvey?? theres no comparison..

  • Avril Latrine? Come on man, that snot-nosed little poser doesn't deserve to be mentioned in the same breath as Polly jean. Polly has talent, talent, talent, not a slick promotional campaign. She could care less about "image", while Ms. Latrine lives for just that. Polly forever!

  • damn right! it's like comparing a great film to a shampoo commercial

  • thanks for putting this on here, it used to be then the corporobots stole it and now it's back wooohooo. :)

  • That's funny, because if you look at who uploaded it, it appears to be the corporobots - Universal Music Group.

  • what does it say behind her?

  • I'm one big queen... one of the lyrics.

  • I think it just says "I'm one big Queen". simplicity at its best. By the way, I named my dog Queenie.

  • ooooh...i always loooove that right mouth corner of hers hangin'down in texas way style when she sings...

  • I know what you mean, she does have a really sexy mouth, full, pouty lips. Oh Polly, lick my legs and I'm desire!

  • avrilkž lavigne should run and hide.....PJ is marianne faithful of the 21 century...and more!

  • See what I wrote for "lisadoop"; but I'll add here that all those stupid, talentless, vapid, insipid, wastes of space like avril, britney, Jessica Simpson, et al. should all run for cover before Ms. Polly Jean beats them all to death with her awesome guitar (and talent). Polly Jean Rocks! (Really, she does).

  • I love her. This is sort of a silly video, but shes a pretty silly lady. This song is really amazing too.

  • Cool I love Polly!

  • perfection

  • She's teh real rebel man, fuck avril lavigne

  • the first time i saw this was on beavis and butt-head. i didn't really remember it then, but now that i see it without their inane commentary, i think it's really good.

  • One of her best songs, ever.

  • I love this song. great video!

  • Radge wee lassie. A ride, but.
