i had one of these toys when i was younger-i would like to know if ANYONE in this big world would still have an exact replica-shooting fist-and fireery toungemy e-mail is roncrosebrook@hotmail.ca
That brings back the memories. I had one of those back in the day and loved it.
The reason why Godzilla had a launching claw was because the toy was released with the Shogun Warrior robot collection. The SW's had all kinds of missiles and stuff that launched so to put Godzilla in with them meant he had to have something that could launch with enough power to maim somebody's little sister. Thus the launching claw was born. There's no way a toy like that would be released now.
@DavidTRichard "Godzilla" films did make overseas to the U.S. back in the 1970's. I recall seeing "Godzilla vs. Megalon" back at a drive-in in the late '70's.
I still have two. there were two different versions made. And Rodan also. Mattel was so cool importing those Japanese toys. But each season they would make them cheaper and crappier.
You can pretend godzilla turns a mighty castle into a pile of sand, you control godzillas UGLY tongue, you can make him stomp, pound his tail, pretending he strikes at all in his way, you can launch godzillas claw for the final blow, what will godzilla do next? wonder why his hand came off.
I had this commercial embedded in my memories from the tender age of 3 and I'm thankful for an invention like You Tube because memeories are so precious to me.

They weren't even releasing Godzilla movies overseas in the 70s, I thought...why bother exporting the toys? Weird.

Remember how Godzilla always shoots his tongue out or how he shoots his hands off in his films? I sure do not.
