I went to high to SouthWestern high school with his younger brothers in the 60's. Great talent. Use to see all his performing photos at his mothes house in southwest detroit.
I heard this song back in the day and I thought it was a Motown-like sound. But this song never have been played on oldies format. I wish a programming director picked it up for their playlists.
THe one I have was released on the Groovesville Record label. A label out of Detroit, Michigan.
This label was associated with Solid Hitbould productions, the label that had the Ric TIc and Revilot record labels. They also had Don Davis as producer.
Oh my goodness, i haven't heard this since the late 60's. My mother wore out this 45 playing it for company that came over.I think it was in 66 or 67 when it came out. Awesome. Thanks for posting Xpinger.
This song is seldom heard on oldies formated radio stations. It's a great sound, nice to hear it again....alot of good music came out of Detroit...wish we could bring it back.
Gothic 'YOU' by Marvin Gaye is one of my favorites I have it on Cd but, anytime I ask about it nobody's heard of it! Great song surprised it hasn't been posted!
They loved to skate to this one at the Woodhill Skating Rink in Woodhill Park (now Luke Easter Park) in Cleveland, Ohio. And the jock had to play it over and over.
Al Kent samples the vocals from this on his track 'Come Back Home" - both are classic!

This song and artist have been unfairly ignored. What a great song, I always loved JJ Barnes.

God! I was thinking about songs and all of a sudden I wondered, "I wonder if Baby Please Come Back Home" could be on You Tube.
I remember this from junior year in high school (1967). It was waaay cool back then.

Very reminiscent to Marvin Gaye. It's been said that Gaye sabotaged Barnes career at Motown. I can see why.
