This is so interesting. I've noticed the same thing with me. I too was born and raised in Aus.
I haven't watched TV in over three years so I'm not exposed to the Australian accent in that way: via. commercials and a bunch of other programs; I don't have any real-life friends so I'm not exposed to the Australian accent that way; most of my lecturers at uni. are foreigners; and my parents are European.
It's weird, even though I live here, I think I'm exposed to more foreign accents. peace!
