One more interesting point of discussion - anyone notice how much this version borrowed from the original Edgar Rice Burroughs "John Carter of Mars" series? (lots of design and themes for sure)
The art direction on all of this was just amazing - and I mean the designs of costumes, ships, women ..everything - with one VERY BIG EXCEPTION: Prince Baron and his "Merry Men". Their characters and how they live (in the forest) is neat - but why make 'em look so darned silly? Why make the Robin Hood theme?
Filmation is probably the only North American Cartoon production that makes cool cartoons

Ming isn't trying to be evil. He's just happy that he could 'astrally project' the entirety of his beard!

Filmation has supposedly made one of the greatest classics of all time? You gotta be kidding me.

at 6:13 has anyone noticed that all three men has THE SAME FACE, but different beards? Clones, perhaps...

@Frostwarrior85
Nah, that would be Filmation cutting corners by using the same face design over and over. They were notorious for that back in the day.

Don't listen to Thun...I've met these Lion-women. They've got bad breath and their fur might be soft but it smells like old, damp carpets...

@digglyda Sounds like you're describing Turkey.

I love the theme to this cartoon, especially the slow version playing as Thun is describing his world to Flash Gordon.
