Willams, crayton, austin, herd, sranback, witten, bennett, curtis ? we have enough people to throw the ball too, i wouldnt waste an early draft pick on one, i'd fill other positions first
I still say getting rid of T.O. was a BIG mistake, especially without any compensation, watch and see. Our running game better be off the hook this season because our receivers are always getting hurt year after year.
Appreciate the shoutout man and good job not killing my ears too much in this vid ha! It sucks losing Plax but we have 10 draft picks and 5 in the first 100 - so hopefully Reese can make something happen. P.S. I'm trying to make it down to Dallas for the game in 09'. What can I expect in terms of ticket prices at the boys house against a division rival?
Wow, thanks for the 411 with the Giants & Plaxico...I'm not suprised at all and Burress is another example of a big waste of talent. Maybe he'll end up on the team who ends up signing Michael Vick....Hmm
The Eagles have won 3 playoff games and just made an NFC Champ. Game since TO left there. I'd say that they're better of without him and I think we're better off without him.
I'm all about substance over style. Anybody who says that we did better with TO (0 playoff wins) then they did better without him (3 playoff wins) is a lost. You can shove the stats for all I care.
There is only ONE player out there that can help the Giants out, and that's Boldin. Edwards won't be able to handle Eli's duck passes. Rookie WR's NEVER produce, unless your name is Boldin.
Giants loose Spags, and Derrick Ward. IMO if the Giants don't get Boldin, they'll be the same team that ended the 08 season 1-5 and a play away from 0-6.
Yet they waste a TON of cash on the DT position, when they already have depth there...
Unless they wanna give up 1st rd picks(s) + players.
As of now, Giants have Hixon and Smith as there starting two WR's LOL... But the Giants are signing players like Canty and Rocky Barnard, when players like WhoseYourMomma are going to Shithawks, for the same deal Canty got, doesn't make any sense to me..
Braylon can play, but can he play with Eli??? Eli doesn't throw a tight spiral, most of his deep passes are ducks, and he does play in windy conditions. I just don't think its a good fit for Braylon. Edwards good, but Eli throws a hard ball to catch. (i.e Toomers/Plex amazing catches, throughout playoffs.)
I don't consider Boldin a #1 WR because I judge #1's off if they stretch the field or not and whether they're big play threats downfield. Boldin doesn't stretch the field or make plays down field at all.
I don't consider Whoseyourmomma a #1 either.
Matter of fact, I only think there's really 8-10 true #1's. Roy has the potential to be one but I don't currently consider him one.
Fitz, S.Smith(Car), Bryant, C. Johnson, A. Johnson, Jennings, R. Moss, L. Evans, TO, Marshall, Wayne, C. Johnson, Edwards are the only guys I consider #1 WR's.
On seasons where Boldin plays most of the season, hes putting up 1400yards/1300yards/1400yards.
He ain't the greatest deep threat WR. But hes a match up nightmare, that consistently produces, runs great over the middle routes, and is a beast on the slants/curls.
edwards sucked ass last year !!! boldin is a better player than chad.... lee evans over boldin ? get real... hell t.o. is better than these guys too , u gotta look at boldins stats last year & remember he had a severe injury & missed games too !
Yeah. Because we should judge WR's off of 1 year. TO and Roy sucked ass last year too, your point? /sarcasm
Stats? Again, who gives a shit? I have sunday ticket and I know his style of play and he's a possession WR, a great one at that, but not a true #1 WR.
Yeah, he was just fantastic. Your right let's just judge him off the 10 TD's. Nevermind the fact that he got perpetually bitch-slapped by no-name CB's in big games (i'd be glad to name them too). Couldn't beat a press and dropped 15 balls again. Please, give me a break, by his standards that was a crap season and would of been even crappier if not for 1 amazing game vs. a crappy niners secondary. Drop the pom poms already.
Steve Smith? Are you F'n kidding me? When does he drop the ball? That guy's about as sure handed they come.
Maybe you have short-term memory but YOU budded in the conversation cocking an attitude telling me that Edwards sucked ass. I don't have an attitude, you just can't seem to handle a different opinion.
well your not a stat guy but he was right behind owens in drops in 07-08
and also mr non fantasy football, edwards was also right moss that year for #2 over all wr & last year he just fucking sucked ass, maybe he will bounce back, maybe he wont ! he didnt have a good year at all last year though !
Giants run curls in 90% of there passing plays, and I'm being serious. Kevin Gilbribe is like in love with the curl route. And Boldin can run that shit all day long.
I'm not saying he doesn't fit what they do, I'm saying he's not a #1. And what, you think Edwards can't run a slant or a curl? I'd beg to differ on that one...
I like Edwards, I really do. But Eli throws a hard ball to catch. He just does. Mixed with the winds in the Meadowlands, I wouldn't reply on Edwards to be my #1 WR when I would prolly have to give a 1st rd'er + players for him. Just don't think Eli and Edwards wouldn't be a good fit. I see Boldin adjusting to errant passes all the time. Edwards drops passes that hit him in the chest.
Yes, stats aren't everything, but I don't think you can argue 1400 yards per season every time he plays more then 14 games. It doesn't really matter... if you're a WR pulling those #'ers consistently, then you're a #1 WR on 30-40% of the teams in the NFL.
I agree he needs other players around him to be successful, but that goes for almost every WR in the league.
But Giants run game, would open up Boldin's game. Just trying to think from a Giants fans point of view.
Sorry. but he's just not a # 1 WR in my book. #1's need to be able to stretch the field and command a double team and he does neither. Guys like Boldin, Housh and Welker all are possession guys and guys who are just that aren't #1's. It's why I never considered Keyshawn a #1. I think they all very much benefit off of the better WR on each of their teams and they'd be exposed if they were the top WR on the team. People just don't realize how much attention a guy like Fitz gets freeing up Boldin.
It comes down to this...when I go into a game about to play a team, I look for that one guy who I think could absolutely kill us. THAT'S the guy I say we need to focus on.
Guy's like Fitz, Moss, etc. you NEED over the top safety help to contain them.
A guy like Boldin I'd feel very comfortable putting Newman on him all game. Of course he'd get his share of catches but nothing that will just break your back. Guy's that can be contained aren't #1's.
You leave a guy like Moss or Fitz 1 on 1 with even the best of CB's like T-New, sooner or later they will break your back with a huge play.
Are you serious with this Harper crap? lol...I didn't say that was the SOLE criteria if your a number 1 WR, but it is part of it. Harper's a bad comparision because he wasn't a complete WR so no he's not a #1 even though he could stretch the field deep.
Irvin-Boldin? LOL...Irvin was by no means a speed threat but speed is by no means the sole requisite to stretch a field, Plax isn't fast either but he stretches it deep because of his size.
I think you forget that Irvin was very physical and thus did demand double teams because of that. Irvin was a #1 through and through. To say a guy with an average of 16 ypc over his career didn't stretch a field is upsurd.
Irvin-Boldin again is really a bad comparison because Irvin caught his fair share of deep balls while being the only main WR threat on a team while Boldin rarely if ever does being 2nd fiddle to Fitz. The dude's physically limited.
Speed is absolutely required to stretch the field. It's the definition of stretching the field. My Harper comment was to make a point. Irvin was the possession receiver yet he was the #1 guy. Harper stretched the field and was the #2 guy. Whichever WR demands the most attention is the #1 guy...PERIOD.
So your saying Plaxico doesn't stretch the field attract a double team when running deep?
Speeds not required to stretch a field, if you have great height like Burress or B. Edwards you they demand over the top safety help. Neither of those guy are speedsters.
I didn't say anything about Plax. What I'm saying is you need to learn more about defenses and realize that stretching the field means making the field longer. Causing DB's to play deeper which absolutely requires a receiver to have SPEED. Demanding double coverage from the safety is not stretching the field. Plax and Edwards are both posession receivers. Posession receivers do NOT stretch the field. That doesn't mean they're not #1 WR's however.
You have absolutely no clue on what the term "field-stretcher" is. A field stretcher is somebody who draws over the top safety help thus stretching the field OR also called stretching defense and thus creating more space or room undereath (intermediate parts of the field) for the other WR's to get open because there's 1 less safety (he's upfield with the WR)
Ask anybody knowledgable on the game of football... if the WR doesn't command a double he's not a number 1.
Sorry, but I judge WR's by a higher standard than stats. Welker, Boldin, Housh all these guys are possession guys who don't demand double coverage and all benefit off of 1 on 1's because they play next to TRUE #1's who command the double.
And no, speed isn't required to stretch a field. If Plax or Edwards run a "go" teams HAVE to roll the safety to their side over top otherwise your taking a big gamble they'll beat the CB in a 1 on 1 using their great size.
So...you've managed to disagree with EVERYONE on this thread of comments yet you're the one who's right. Bullshit. I know football inside out. I fucking know what stretching the field means and you are WRONG in your interpretation ogf the term. I never said that a WR demanding double coverage wasn't a #1. DRAWING DOUBLE COVERAGE IS NOT STRETCHING THE FUCKING FIELD. They are NOT one in the same. You'll never hear anyone refer to a player with average speed as someone who stretches defenses. EVER

Geesh...now I'm done debating the X's and O's of football. Peace.

EVER

My question is why such in-depth discussion about who the fucking Giants need at receiver? I mean, go play on a Giants board for God sake.
