yo dude this is pretty sick i ve been working with spraypait on a larger scale for about a year and just started doing more poster size stuff but quick quustion what are you using to make those white lines at 1:50? thx
what type of spray paint do you use? high gloss or something. never really tried this type of art or anything of the sort. i was into music back when i was in school but watching these videos has unlocked an entirely new creative desire. This is the closest thing to amazing since holding my newborn daughter. I'm sure I'll get some negative posts about that but seriously when I watch these videos all I can say is "Wow". I have to try this. Any info or tips would be greatly appreciated. AMAZING!
@Drewcevus thank you kindly, I use glossy rustoleum spray paint, shake them cans really well and try to paint in warmer weather or warm your cans to room temp before painting, best of luck, go for it!
@Svenenkoen your paint is too dry. Use clear And go over the top of where your trying to do it and it will react with the paint again to make it moveable hope it helps :)
I really love those spray paintings and i try to make them at home to.
i just wonder what kind of paper you use ( shiney white coating paper or just normal paper?
While making these spacepainting i notice that when you use the kind of art palette knife or how do you call that... i figure out i won't get the nice white lines that you can ( as tops of rocks and so). Can anyone tell me how i can scrape those white lines , often used on rocks nice, instead of a colour where the white isn't white
@svenenkoen You can start out by using A4 photo paper, works really well and cheap. The white line effect you are looking for is simply scraping back the paint to the white of the photo paper and as supra pointed out if your paint dries and you can't scrape through it, simply add some clear (laquer UK) and it will thin the paint so you can scrape again.
For those who wonder why he does the "same thing" over and over, I'd like to point out that it's made clear that his preference as far as spray painting is making outer space landscapes (as his username is "spacepainter" after all). He's not shy about it. He's shown in other videos that he's capable of creating other things. His technique is quick, clean, and well done. However, I will always love the space paintings the most.
@BlackAndBlueStainz Also I would like to add if you stick with one type of painting like "space" as he does your going to become extremely good at it.. so theres no need to do anything else
@BlackAndBlueStainz Thank you, also sometimes as in this case I dont have a choice as to what to paint because someone has order a custom request from me.
@Duphe, I think the reason for this is because there is only so much you can do with spray paint painting. To do much else requires you to use stencils which are a bit less impressive. Adding to that, to get more intricate details and really amaze people would require just drawing on the paint with pallet knifes which is no longer just painting. This is the drawback to this type of art IMHO. You end up hitting a point where creativity in your designs is limited.
you always have some rock stuff in the front making a half circle and then you have a planet at the top. this isnt a master piece, youre just copying everything youve done before.
@xGothimox i dont know if u have ever heard this word before but its called STYLE, and i if that is what he likes to make than whats wrong with that, besides, i doubt u can come even remotely close to painting this
@xGothimox i dont know if u have ever heard this word before but its called STYLE, and if that is what he likes to make than whats wrong with that, besides, i doubt u can come even remotely close to painting this
Unbelievable rattle can work! I would like to see a wall painted like this instead of all those word tags you see everywhere you got some talent there!!!
didnt see the illusion but this is reallt kool, i <3 the detail in the start of the water fall thing with the spires and the wonding flaring satircase (if thats what its suposed 2 b -_-)
His technique calls for a thick application of paint, and he uses things to either slow drying down or for lifting. Wall painters are to anal (my opinion) about drips. If your design had elements of stems or long skinny legs, then it might work on a vertical surface.
There's also the idea of color over color and using the drips by taking a magazine page and swiping the entire bottom in a horizontal swipe to make a "ground"...
what kinda material are you using to paint on? And can you uce any spray paint for this or a certain kind?Talk about just using some basic materials and your coming out with some wild and beautiful works. Great stuff, im deffinatley going to try this, dam i just spent like 500$ on airbrush equipment, and could have just went and got some spray paint and some cans and made a master piece :(.. .
Reminds me of jackson pollocks style. he used a brush to fling paint at an empty canvas. Youre doing something similar with spraycans. The only thing is youre making something concrete out of the paint while pollock's is abstract.
I guess the illusion is just perspective. He did a fantastic job of fore-shortening to make it appear that the painting has depth (IE you perceive the upper waterfall to be behind the lower waterfall). It's a trick that has been used in paintings since painting began, but very effective nonetheless.
Dude, how are you not a world famous painter? What ever happened to world famous painters? It seems like mankind has [d]evolved into a classless race. halfmastmutiny is on it. Great picture! Great illusion!
Too bad your camera couldn't get it into digits for you.
One of the biggest jolts EVERY art student does is when they wander into an art gallery at some point.
Chicago Art Institute has "Free on Tuesdays" and I drove 135 miles North to go.
They had to drag me out
(I fell asleep)
no...
It was GREAT! LIGHT IN the paintings! Made you SQUINT to see them!
but, halfmast's point and answer is, keep at it.
Don't quit too early, but, evolve more.

The optical illusion is that it appears to take only 3 1/2 minutes to complete when, in reality, it took much longer. It's edited to preserve secret ancient techniques that have been in his family for over 400 years.
