  • That throwing is out of this World ,I have never seen any thing like it by such great men. Well done

  • at 0:23 it looks like a tennis ball

  • OmFG!!! how fast does he spin?

  • his number is 911 o.0. HE KNEW. CONSPIRACY! -trollface-

  • Those photographers were insane. If of the throwers had let go prematurely, it would have been like a cannon ball rocketing through about 10 photographers. Instant death.

  • @turb05 I agree, but it is also a testament to how freakin good these guys were.

  • craazy men

  • Yuri, the best hammer thrower in the world!!!

  • he has the farthest throw in history and a nice guy too. I remember being introduced to him by my Dad, Harold Connolly, the greatest hammer thrower who ever lived! Have a nice day. Mark Connolly

  • why do they have to act so retarded after each throw?

  • @planetX15 Achieve something great, something that you've spent years working towards, and you'd be a little retarded to. But just like most of the dipshits talking on youtube, you will never understand the rush that accomplishment can bring.

  • I remember watching this live, much more interesting than track events.

  • nice to see it was off three turns... Means I could still Become a good hammer thrower if I do 3 turns and not caring to do 4.

  • imagine if he hit those photographers LOLZZZZZ

  • haha his # is 911

  • @JxAxRxRxExTxT mmm OK?

  • @jmm121884 im just sayin

  • @jmm121884

How do you not get that? 911 is the American emergency number.

  • @JxAxRxRxExTxT with his power thats a good number for him

  • @JxAxRxRxExTxT 9/11 hadnt happened when this was filmd

  • He set the WR off a three spin?

  • @MrHav1k yes... Sedkyh told me that he tried 4 turns but it was just as far as when he did 3.. more consistent with 3

  • Comment removed

  • Wow they spin like super fast

  • fantastic. when I was a hammer thrower in 1998, i was beaten in manchester to a 15 year old who threw 82 metres with a 5kg hammer. i swear to this day that he was on steroids!

  • @danbs07 isn't the british record for u17 76m?

  • @danbs07 haha no, the furthest a 15 year-old have ever thrown a 5kg is 77,74 m.

  • He spun OVER 9000 TIMES~!!

  • What a great competition. Sedykh was just showing off on that last throw, almost matching his world record from, like, 20 minutes earlier. Incredible technique, getting that power off of three spins instead of four.

  • Lol bladestorm.

  • sedykh's shorts still make me laugh :D

  • @lou666maidenlover Oof, yeah, you're right. If he were a woman, we'd say he's too big to be wearing those short shorts. Those suckers look like they got shrunk in the wash. :-D

  • BUT HE'S GOT ONE MORE THROW!

    ....

    Where is it?

  • @ColonelVagner It was like 83-84 meters I believe I would have liked to seen it but I dont have it

  • @jmm121884 did youri have any sponsors like adidas

  • @ColonelVagner It was 86.62.

  • @ohedd BOMB. Thanks man

  • @snowboardskater1102

    it's the same

  • @snowboardskater1102

longer by like half a foot or so

  • longer there boss, by about 3 inches

  • A yard is 0.91 meter, so it's about 9 cm shorter.

A yard is exactly 3 feet

  • @snowboardskater1102

a meter is longer than a yard

    stay in school

  • Broom = +3m

    LMFAO

  • what?

  • Imagine being litvinov and going home to your wife and she asks "how did you throw?" and you reply 86m. And then have to explain that you lost.

  • Comment removed

  • first,he lost. second, 86 is close enough, third maybe she wasnt, 4th, willanger was joking, 5th you're an idiot

  • Comment removed

  • I didn't imagine this situation :) Its Funny :)

  • The best ever. Looked like he was just a bit too far to the right. Head a little too far back. Had he stayed on it, and released down the middle of the sector, no doubt he would have been over 87. Nitpicking.

  • mm no. it was basically down the middle.. the only issue in the throw was that his double support push was rushed on the second turn. sedykh is the one who says this.

  • It really shows the way Sedykh's 86,68 throw was better, because if you look at the two replays he has his centre of gravity over his right leg on the world record, which causes balance failure, but not on his 86,68. Maybe he was too exhausted to beat it again. Maybe the world record would had been 87 meters, if he did that throw in his third.

  • Yeah the 86,68 throw looks alot more perfect than the previous throw, but I assume, as you said, that when you throw a world record your body will begin to slow down and get exhausted :P

  • sedykh said it was his favorite throw ever and that the fact it was 6cm shorter meant nothing.. to him, it was exactly the same..

  • love the commentator really professional

  • how do they know when and how to let go

  • practice.. and how to let go is each just relax your grip lol.

  • wow, very nice video good post

  • his number is 911

  • and?

  • dont you know he threw the planes into the towers!

  • sedykh throws on 3 turns and he's better then everyone else

  • this video is just so fascinating, I'd recommend jmm121884 to change the video icon to a better one, if it's possible.

  • Why

  • Well, as it says Sedykh in the title, and Litvinov is on the icon, and you can hardly see who it is.

  • the commentator is great :D and you people that say the litvinov has a better technique... wtf are u talking about haha the man the throw the futherst has the best technique cuse that's what the sports about ;)

  • not always the man the throw the futherst has more talent

  • Both litinov and sedykh wer on a league above the rest , but sedykh's record will be broke!

it was almost dne by tikhon on a rogue throw but the young throwers coming in2 the sport now are showing serious possibility!

moving on from that primoz may have sed he thinks its impossible 2 throw 90 meters but koji morofushi says others wise ,after study'ing all accepts off the perfect throw he has shown that when dne perfectly 90 meters is possible.

  • Sedykh told me to my face that he has thrown 87 and change in practice... practice pr something like 87.80... Litvinov is rumored to have done 90 in practice.

  • this is bullshit. sedykh training best is 83m and Litvinov in training 87.30m

  • I don't know about that. The junior top ten with 7,26kg hasn't been changed since Olli-Pekka Karjalainen's 78,33 in 1999. But who did you have in mind?

  • did OP throw 78,33 as a 19yr old? :O omg

  • Yeah, pretty big! 80,55 when he was 20 :P

  • such a technician

  • im 15 and threw the the 4kg hammer 44m a year ago dont train alot and only do 1 spin i was in a comp yesterday and had to throw 5kg for the first time and only threw 25m its crazy how 1kg makes a big difference

  • Youri Sedykh=badass

  • Wow! No as much perfection in technique as my man Litvinov, but Sedyikh, here, is so much faster and quicker in terms of acceleration than compared to 1984. And, he is much bulkier, too!

  • not as much perfection? sedykh is consistent as hell, and there are no real flaws in his technique. litvinov's orbit drifts all the time.

  • im 14 and im 6 foot and a half 207 should i do this disscus or shot put plz give me your opinion

  • 6' is too little for discus, for the shot you should probably be near 6'3. But for hammer, 6ft might even be a quite dessirable height. Hope those 207lbs aren't fat, cus you won't need that. Your age is a bit of a problem if you want to be a really good hammer thrower - Shouldn't be too old when you start. But do what you like the most.

  • 14 years is too old? lol nah man, you can do shot or hammer, really good discus throwers tend to be a bit taller, but dont let that down if you like discus

  • I didn't mean specifically his age, I meant generally "your age is a bit of a problem" as in "anybodys age is a bit of a problem, if you are too old when you start". Sorry, a bit indistinct statement.

  • his number is 911

  • This guy= 6 feet tall, >100kg, world champion?

this doesn't add up:P what an athlete

  • Oh course it does. you dont have to be huge like cantwell or alekna to be a good hammer thrower. Litvinov was only 5'10 215lbs. Sedykh 6'1 230.

  • sure does help though, I think bigger athletes tend to go to the discus, shot, and javelin before hammer though.

  • Holy shit I throw only a 4k and only get

    34!

  • Sedykh - what a brilliant athlete

  • it is almost impossible to throw hammer whit 7.25 Kg 90 meters mate. Im javelin thrower from slovenia i know our Olimpyc winner Primož Kozmus and he said it is impossible.. maybe 88 the last but not 90.

    PS from slovenia

  • probably not . I dont think there is anyone currently throwing 80 that can ever throw over 85.. We'll see with the young guys what happens.

  • At 86.74, it requires an advance of 3.24 metres to hit the 90 metre distance - Anyone got any Ideas ?

  • I dont know... make the hammer lighter?

  • Sedykh threw the 6kg hammer 96meters and the 5kg hammer 105meters after he sat the world record with the 7.26kg hammer.

    Very sick.

  • I'd give anything to have been there to see it with my own eyes.

  • I agree lol THAT is the god of hammer throw and i could confidently say no one is ever going to come close to the class that Sedykh produced

  • his is wgat throwing is all about. What a show !!!

I would call this a HAMMER CLINIC (no dis-respect too Sergei) but the KING brought his crown that day !

  • wow, just class like!!!

  • Watching this clip after the Beijing throws, just makes me wanna cry... not only are they in a league of their own in terms of length, but also in terms of consistency. Great video!

  • Greatest competition ever and some great commentry by the BBC's Stuart Storey.

  • ...and Ron Pickering. One of the things I like about this competition was that it had the crowd's full attention - the only other event going on was the marathon outside the stadium and how lucky they were to witness such a spectacle. The average of Sedykh's six throws was 85.786 - fractionally longer than Litvinov's best throw (2nd best 82.12), I bet he wishes he could have reproduced the throw he reportedly did in training before Stuttgart of over 87 metres.

  • This was a kickass competition... Make me wana go out and throw something!

  • Yes Iam. but I see it just the attemps with no sound its another feeling to see it with sound :)

  • incredibile!!! thanks for the video :)

  • From your post and your name it sounds like you are Sergei's Son. You dont have this?

  • Imagine going homw and telling your wife you lost today with a 85.74m throw.

  • @willanger26 I don't think you'd have to go homw, she's probably watching?

  • Nobody competes at this level these days... Sedykh and Litvinov were truly in a league of their own. I honestly think this is the most impressive competition I have ever seen in any throwing event; you never see athletes so consistently close to the world record. What's more, it's still just as impressive as ever 22 years later!

  • That is what I would call REDONKULOUS!!!

  • Awsome vidoe...great find.

  • great video!!! yuri with an 86.74 and an 86.68 back to back, simply amazing

  • The most rediculous come back ever.

  • YO AWESOME FIND!

  • This is the priceless hammer throw video! Exellent job! Nobody has such tehnique like Yuri and Sergei!

  • hey thanks for posting this, I've never seen these videos with commentary, this is exellent
