Those photographers were insane. If of the throwers had let go prematurely, it would have been like a cannon ball rocketing through about 10 photographers. Instant death.

@planetX15 Achieve something great, something that you've spent years working towards, and you'd be a little retarded to. But just like most of the dipshits talking on youtube, you will never understand the rush that accomplishment can bring.
fantastic. when I was a hammer thrower in 1998, i was beaten in manchester to a 15 year old who threw 82 metres with a 5kg hammer. i swear to this day that he was on steroids!
What a great competition. Sedykh was just showing off on that last throw, almost matching his world record from, like, 20 minutes earlier. Incredible technique, getting that power off of three spins instead of four.
@lou666maidenlover Oof, yeah, you're right. If he were a woman, we'd say he's too big to be wearing those short shorts. Those suckers look like they got shrunk in the wash. :-D
The best ever. Looked like he was just a bit too far to the right. Head a little too far back. Had he stayed on it, and released down the middle of the sector, no doubt he would have been over 87. Nitpicking.
mm no. it was basically down the middle.. the only issue in the throw was that his double support push was rushed on the second turn. sedykh is the one who says this.
It really shows the way Sedykh's 86,68 throw was better, because if you look at the two replays he has his centre of gravity over his right leg on the world record, which causes balance failure, but not on his 86,68. Maybe he was too exhausted to beat it again. Maybe the world record would had been 87 meters, if he did that throw in his third.
Yeah the 86,68 throw looks alot more perfect than the previous throw, but I assume, as you said, that when you throw a world record your body will begin to slow down and get exhausted :P
the commentator is great :D and you people that say the litvinov has a better technique... wtf are u talking about haha the man the throw the futherst has the best technique cuse that's what the sports about ;)
Both litinov and sedykh wer on a league above the rest , but sedykh's record will be broke!
it was almost dne by tikhon on a rogue throw but the young throwers coming in2 the sport now are showing serious possibility!
moving on from that primoz may have sed he thinks its impossible 2 throw 90 meters but koji morofushi says others wise ,after study'ing all accepts off the perfect throw he has shown that when dne perfectly 90 meters is possible.
Sedykh told me to my face that he has thrown 87 and change in practice... practice pr something like 87.80... Litvinov is rumored to have done 90 in practice.
I don't know about that. The junior top ten with 7,26kg hasn't been changed since Olli-Pekka Karjalainen's 78,33 in 1999. But who did you have in mind?
im 15 and threw the the 4kg hammer 44m a year ago dont train alot and only do 1 spin i was in a comp yesterday and had to throw 5kg for the first time and only threw 25m its crazy how 1kg makes a big difference
Wow! No as much perfection in technique as my man Litvinov, but Sedyikh, here, is so much faster and quicker in terms of acceleration than compared to 1984. And, he is much bulkier, too!
6' is too little for discus, for the shot you should probably be near 6'3. But for hammer, 6ft might even be a quite dessirable height. Hope those 207lbs aren't fat, cus you won't need that. Your age is a bit of a problem if you want to be a really good hammer thrower - Shouldn't be too old when you start. But do what you like the most.
14 years is too old? lol nah man, you can do shot or hammer, really good discus throwers tend to be a bit taller, but dont let that down if you like discus
I didn't mean specifically his age, I meant generally "your age is a bit of a problem" as in "anybodys age is a bit of a problem, if you are too old when you start". Sorry, a bit indistinct statement.
it is almost impossible to throw hammer whit 7.25 Kg 90 meters mate. Im javelin thrower from slovenia i know our Olimpyc winner Primož Kozmus and he said it is impossible.. maybe 88 the last but not 90.
Watching this clip after the Beijing throws, just makes me wanna cry... not only are they in a league of their own in terms of length, but also in terms of consistency. Great video!
...and Ron Pickering. One of the things I like about this competition was that it had the crowd's full attention - the only other event going on was the marathon outside the stadium and how lucky they were to witness such a spectacle. The average of Sedykh's six throws was 85.786 - fractionally longer than Litvinov's best throw (2nd best 82.12), I bet he wishes he could have reproduced the throw he reportedly did in training before Stuttgart of over 87 metres.
