  • I still had some of these up until about a year ago. They were originally a Christmas present back in the 1990s from my spouse, who had seen Ginsu knives favorably reviewed by Consumer Reports. I added a universal knife block and a 3-piece set of Ronco knives (including a "Ronco Rocker"); then I bought a set of Miracle Blade 3 knives & got rid of all my old knives. Finally replaced everything with a Ginsu Kotta set w/block for this Christmas when the universal knife block (a Kapoosh) broke.

  • why would you cut a lead pipe and a tomato after?

  • @foxsux6000 Because your in-laws are coming over, obviously.

  • We actually still have some of the steak knives around, bought them in the early 90s. Honestly i might get a new (old) set off ebay because of the ones we have lasting as long as they did.

  • But the real question is will it blend.

  • hes cutting a shoe?... WTF?

  • hes cutting a shoe?...

  • but it does not cook to

  • I remember having a set of these at home when I was little lol they feel really cheap! Oh wait they are...

  • In america... a hand can be used to use a knife.

  • 0:39 poison tomattow

  • 0:37 wouldn't wanna eat that tomato.

  • I have a ton of these new never opened im selling for $5 for the whole set..

  • @jvoltron really?

  • My old hack saw stopped cutting my lead pipes, but now i ordered the ginsu and i can cut right through a bank vault! THANKS GINSU!!

  • It's from Japan, so it must be legit.

  • Were is the Ginsu 3000. The 2010 version I would buy it

  • I wonder how I've been slicing shoes all this time.

  • But wait...there's more!

  • but wait, its more

  • it comes with a cook book whick teaches to make a led pipe salad a tree branch hash and a delicious sneaker pot roast

  • @cyberyanmar LMFAO!!!!!

  • i found a box of ginsu 2000 in the garbage other day

  • Yeah exactly, you aren't ACTUALLY supposed to use them to do heavy masonry; the point is that they CAN do it.

  • I remember how everything was "2000" back then...how it seemed so futuristic and far off...

  • Finally!

For ages, I have been looking for a knife, that destroys chicken instead of just cutting it!

  • It's the Jesus Christ Knife! Named for what you say when you cut through a nail, a pineapple, a turkey, then your fingers!

  • the producers must think people are retarded. "never needs sharpening" sad thing is some people will believe that.

  • It's serrated, so you can't really sharpen them so much.

  • @BigDumbJerk It's supposedly made of a high carbon steel which is supposed to be good at holding a sharp edge. Stainless steel doesn't hold edges very well and need to be sharpened often. They should last more than 50 years, no problem though high carbon steel rusts easier, so you probably most likely have to oil em before putting em away.

  • along with ginsu 2000 and the whole knives kit you get this amazing cookbook with recipes for a steel pipe tennis shoe and tree branch salad

  • he is about to make shoe mein. dericious!

  • Still doesn't answer my question. I'll ask you, do you often eat food prepared with a tool covered in lead fillings?

  • The point wasn't that you should attack lead pipes with your knives and then use them for food prep. The point was supposed to be that the knives are so sharp and durable that they can do insane things like cut through pipes, and still retain their edge enough to cut food well.

  • It'snew, and it is cheaper than the 1990's Ginsu...

  • @amaurialves I bought it today for about 4$... ;)... Original and new!

  • BIG DEAL LOL =]

  • haha with an opener like that, it's no wonder I managed to remember it word for word from the mid ninetys.

    HIIIYYAAAA!!!!!

  • Priceless. Ginsu aired a totally different commercial for the exact same knives in 1992. They sure knew how to milk the lifespan of their products.

  • "can saw a lead pipe and still slice a tomato" ok, two things about that: lead is so soft it wouldn't dull the knife at all and do you REALLY wan't to prepare food with the same knife you just used of LEAD?!

  • I love this infomercial. Made me laugh a lot when I was a child

  • what a knife, its like a vorpal blade lol

  • Maybe it wasn't a Ginsu ad that I'm looking for, but I could swear it was... it featured a "demo" in a restaurant featuring the worst acting ever. I still remember two diners delivering the classic lines "I think they're fanTASTIC!" and "Where.. can.. I... get.. a.. set?"

  • I've heard that if you let one of those ginsu fall, it would end up in the center of the Earth. Creepy!

  • That's how i lost my first set.

  • Thats implying the ginsu will actually stop at the center

  • But wait, if you act now, we'll also send you the "Scandinavian Snowball Ring." ♂

  • This is THE commercial that invented tacky "infomercials" and "advertorials"

When I first got my hands on a video camera, my first masterpeice was a spoof of this ad using this exact knife chopping through nails, shoes and copper pipes. I may even still have it!

Mine is rather dull now 16 years later. I'm going to claim under that 50yr warranty.

  • poot

  • As facas Ginsu só não corta as meias vivarinas!!!KKKKKKKKKKKKKKK fodástico!

  • destroy the most challenging chicken!

  • Is There A Ginsu III? Plus More Commercials Like That...
