  • nice i got a n14 red top i think your jakes needs a little calibration

  • I have a n14 cummins and I would like to know if the muffler was the only thing you take away or modify something more ....

  • love that!!

  • Hell yeah to a cummins

  • You A Bad Bad Man My Friend!! Awesome Jakes!!

  • My uncles got a 2001 kw with straight 12in stacks and the best time to jake in it is with a full load of bales going down this hill about 6 miles from our house about 65 lol its pretty cool

  • Irresponsible use huh.....what about bikers with loud pipes....pick-ups with glass packs....its just another way to target truckers....damn laws are taking all the fun out of this industry.....think I'll just quit and go be a piano player in a whorehouse.......Not!!!!!!

  • I've got a kenworth w900L with the n14 cummins that's strait piped with a turbo boost that sounds bad ass too! I'll try posting a video of it. But nice jakes buddy!

  • im not sure what sounds better the N14 cummins or the jake brake

  • *engine rev-fwap fwap feap-engine rev-engine rev-fwap fwap fwap fwap*

  • THE 18 DISLIKES CANT DRIVE AS GOOD AS THIS

  • listening to this thru headphones .. brilliant !!

  • @m648mvp totaly dude this sound badass through head phones

  • @jay34183 i got the N14 STC in my truck at 500bhp and straight pipes but nice to listen to others hehe

  • I'm love this motor brake

  • does the jake pop in automatically?

  • That's exactly why these Brakes are outlawed everywhere.

It sounds wonderful, don't get me wrong but it is irresposible use of the jake brake.

  • Put it in the big hole and gouge on it!!!!

  • What truck is this???

  • Obviously you love your Jake Brake, so tell Jacobs how much and win a racing weekend in Vegas! Just enter "Jacobs Tip to Vegas" in Facebook and tell your Jake Brake Story

  • chingon we:D

  • ha, ha! I know where this is.

  • Man I would drive this truck around like a regular car, just to hear that Cummins. Probably go get groceries and stuff lol

  • Nice vid! What model truck?

  • I need a mp3 of this. Something calming to fall asleep to.

  • Ahh the sweet sweet sound of the sheew between shifts love it lol

  • @SkoalBoy62 that sheew what you call it its just the turbo winding down between shifts

  • awesome sound! wish cars had that option! hehe

  • Awsome sounding!!

  • That is the absolute best sound I've ever heard, can't wait till I get my own truck to open it up like this lol

  • How Much Coal is that engine rolling when on the Jake I ask because it sounds like I hear fuel in the cylinders or maybe it audio recording

  • Sounds cool, but annoying how the jake brake comes in automatically. Especially between gear change and uphill..

  • @bkorven Yeah 82Cmb is right. Using either the freeplay at the top of the clutch pedal or the throttle pedal (just touching either pedal, so not actually engaging the clutch or throttle) or if the revs are below around 1000rpm, the jakes will not come on. So you can shift normally (no clutch) by resting your foot on the clutch freeplay or not take your foot fully off the throttle (not lift your foot off the top 5mm of travel) - takes a bit of practice. I think that makes sense...

  • @Bigd351clevo I think I understand, what you say is that you dont either fully release the clutch pedal or gas pedal(or keep the engine under a specific rpm) to prevent it from jake braking? Seems annoying still and kind of unefficient sometimes, why not use a button to adjust the jake brake.

  • @bkorven The Jake brake cuts off at a specific RPM to prevent stalling, and there is a switch to turn it on/off. There is also another switch to set the strength of the engine brake (hi/low) where low would slow you down less. Kind of hard to explain without actually showing someone how it all works, but you've got the jist.

  • @Bigd351clevo Aha, almost thought so! Good, thanks for explaining

  • A thing of beauty!!!!

  • haha i dont know much bout trucks but what i do know is i lllloooovvveeeee the sound of jake brakes!!!(:

  • you just dont understand how big that makes me smile. LOVE LOVE IT

  • good way to break a crank by upshifting with the jake on.

  • @aussiek2000 never heardof that before, shifted up with jake on all the time. soo uuuhhh.... thats the only way you can fucken get the next gear in the mud i deal with.... and no crankshafts break.... hmmm

  • Saw how you showed a little courtesy to the guy walkin' his dawg. Nice of ya to not blow 'em off the road. Nice Vid by the way.

  • Ain't working like a Volvo with n14 sounds bitchin

  • 10 bucks says your driving a Freightliner. Right

  • Actually Jakes will come on in Neutral. The dip settings control all functions. So if you don't have them set you will get different operations. Some wont work under certain speeds and some wont work unless your in higher gears. It all depends on how the computer dip settings are set. My truck has a Signature 600 Cummins, it works until it gets to 800 rpm and stops, but at any speed. Thats the way I like it. Some companys had their jakes set like this for their own reasons.

    GO STRAIGHT PIPES

  • question when you shift you use the clutch?

  • are you just bobtailing or do you have a load?

  • what kinda truck is this

  • Badass! I'm sure the neighbors loved it!

  • the same eninge as the DAF 95 500?

Duitsland & Scandinavie).

  • 7 people's jake brakes don't sound as good like this

  • best n14 video, best cummins video, and possibly best straight pipe video

  • Is this the red top n14?

  • haha that sign tottaly said weight limit 7 tons haha

  • @1docmarten1 If the weight limit is 7 tons.. what happens if a 20-ton fire truck has to go down that street?? lol

  • @PROJECT89PRIME haha thats true good question

  • Lol, vrrroom vrrrommmm BRARARARARARARARARARARARARARARARAR..... sssssss... vrooom vrrrooommmm

  • i love these n14s my boss whants to put big fat striaght pipes on my truck is it going to be way to loud i run outin the middle of no where but i do have to go into the city somtimes

  • Dump truck?

  • Sounds better than a cat

  • dam man u fucken suk at drivein

  • @studpuppy69 the series 60 was pretty good engine but we seemed to have alot of cracking flywheels lol and the water pumps always went bad so we just went to cummins then cat and back to cummins. :)

But I loved the sound a Detroit engine made but couldn't afford the price of parts.... Sadly

  • Actually a wastegate opens up to regulate the pressure on the intake side. If the wastegate is disconnected the turbo will keep building pressure causing damage to the intercooler, intake tubes, the manifold or in the worst case scenario the engine. The valve on the intake side prevents the turbo from going into turbine stall and also helps drop the boost when you back off the throttle suddenly.

  • nothing beats the sound of a jake on big rigs

  • Our Foden has a Cat C10 340. (UK) The brake has a switch on the dash that enables it to be turned off, another setting which makes it come on when you just touch the brake pedal, or it can be set so it comes on when you release the accelerator. All trucks should have them as they save a lot of braking; keeping your brakes fresh for when you really need them. There is also a lot of confusion amongst drivers here; who think an exhaust brake is the same thing......... in short it aint!!

  • i love the sound of the wastegate whining

  • @454sskilla

Correct me if I'm wrong here, but I don't think Cummins uses a waste gate. (Cat does) Don't know what they do instead. And yes, the turbo spooling down or whatever sounds good.

  • @iMcguy i know its the sound on the the 5.9l i6 12 & 24 valve pickup trucks make that same sound and its the wastegate imagine it is for the n14's as well. correct me if im wrong lol idk

  • @iMcguy Hi, a turbo wastegate is fitted to a turbo to release excessive exhaust pressure from the turbo when the engine revs drop suddenly, such as when you change gear quickly. The wastegate is controlled by the pressure side of the turbo. Excessive inlet manifold pressure operates an air cylinder that opens the wastegate on the exhaust side. Turbo's working at lower pressures on lower powered engines often dont have a wastegate. Scooze me fer pokin' me nose in!

  • Do the neighbors ever shoot at you as you go by?

  • ive watched this video hundreds of times, and I still cant figure out what kind of truck it is. but it does sound awesome

  • is that a volvo truck with cummins n14 engine ?

  • sounds bad ass

  • I like cummins but they have had head problems for years so me and my grandpa switched over to cat. Well now that they don't make truck engines anymore we are slowly switching back to cummins... Both good diesel engine makers!!! :)

  • @Jakes720s How about the Series 60?

  • sounds great diesel all the way jakein tilll my ears blead

  • Sounds like he knows wth he's doin to me (A master certed diesel tech lifer). And those r def uncapped! Jus fartin around, eh? Watch for DOT...

    N14s... The good ole days...

  • nice what kind of truck is this

  • How exactly do jake brakes work? Like, Is there a switch or something?

  • @dana44s theres a switch in the cab that u turn on that send a message to the computer that tells it to release the compression to the cylinders and the pistons pumping up and down make it make the sound

  • There is a sweet spot on the throttle when the jake engages and this guy knows where its at and knows how to drive, so all you sidewalk sissys sit back and listen and quit bitchin about the jake brake, it sounds gooood !

  • Dirtbike125r thats exactly what im sayin, listen all you have to do is take it out of gear and barely hold it to the next gear down till you feel it grind a little and start revving the motor and it will pretty much jump into gear on its own,the jakes are a non factor cause you dont let off the fuel pedal till youve downshifted.

  • 247Copenhagen idk how long youve been drivin but when you take it out of gear the jakes wont even come on,they wont come on till the trucks in gear with your foot off the fuel pedal.

  • @82cmb i dont know how u long u have been driving, but apparently thats just on you truck, on mechanical diesels they will come on whenever ur off the gas and off the clutch and will stall the truck, on this computer controlled truck obviously it will come on if the rpm's are high enough

  • @82cmb In theory they should come on as long as you have your foot off the clutch and accelerator (and youve switched it on of course)

If it didnt come on in neutral you wouldnt be able to use the jake to help with rev matching while changing up. Some exhaust brakes cant be activated in neutral and id say the same goes for hydraulic retarders but just about all jakes will work out of gear.

  • @82cmb Yeah they will... I do it messin' around all the time...2001 Peterbilt 379 C15..

  • @82cmb... simplified dont press the clutch or gas pedal leave it in gear and it will work by the way im 12 so there you go.

  • hey wheres the jake brake at on the n14 that thing rocks

  • The truck sounds great if I ever get a truck it will not have mufflers and probly have a big Cummins in it....

  • love the sound of the N14!!

  • wat kinda rig is dis?

  • What kind of truck is it?

  • First off this guy is actually a really good driver. How do you apply the jake break? Is it on the floor? A button on the dash?

  • @unitedairforcepilot Button on the dash.

  • one of the best vids here on youtube..love the sound of a cummins!

  • @dirtbike125r.... i will just keep trying at it dag gone it, i just dont wanna experience a striped gear or two in the tranny becauce of my beatin and bangin trying to get the hang of this cowboy shifting. its tough to get use to and to learn.

  • @dirtbike125r.... ok see when i get ready to down shift with the jake on, i first take it outta gear, jake kicks on for a sec, my foot goes to the floor, a one sec pause happens, my rps build (always to high) i let my foot off the hammer to put it n gear and i get ready to stick it n gear then ive over reved so it grinds for a sec the the jake kicks n then ive missed the gear all together

  • Dirtbike125r... Ok i gotcha now... Like you said, when you hit the throttle it turns the jake off but if you let off too much it kicks on. It just takes some getting used to i rekon, i have a hell of a time with em... I usually just go on and turn em off till i need them.

  • 247Copenhagen... There is no real secret, just keep at it and you will get it eventually. Experience is the best tracher

  • Dirtbike125r... You dont speed the engine up while upshifting my man, this guy is talking about downshifting with the Jake on. When you rev the engine to try and speed thw tranny up, the jake makes the RPM's fall too fast and it throws off his timing

  • @DrMcelroy sorry my mistake typed that one out wrong

  • @DrMcelroy IM A HEAVY DUTY MECHANIC AND THIS GUY KNOWS HOW TO ROLL WITH THE JAKE. I GOT DRIVERS AT WORK THAT LOVE ROLLING THE JAKE ON OUR CAT C-15 WITH A PETERBUILT.. HES GOT A CONSISTANT WAY TO UP SHIFT WITH THE JAKE AS YOU CAN HEAR.. ITS ALL ABOUT PRACTICE AND THIS GUYS BEEN THRU IT AND THATS HIS WAY OF ROLLING WITH A JAKE. WICH I LOVE, MUSIC TO MY EARS. AWESOME VIDEO.

  • @2009grizzly700 this is how they roll in jamaica, the truckers here love their jakes

  • @2009grizzly700 For a guy who knows alot about trucks sure don't know how to spell Peterbilt.

  • What kind of truck is this???

  • how do you float gears with the jake on 4 cycle or 6 cycle? I tryed that and i can up shift but when its time to down shift my rpms drop to fast when i take it outta gear. then i over rev causeing a grind... then i miss the gear. someone help me whats the trick.

  • @247copenhagen

ur not using the jake to up shift because u need to step on the throttle to bring the rpms up witch turns the jake off

  • @dirtbike125r U can up shift with the jake on it's just not very good for it but it can be done

  • @247copenhagen You shouldn't be letting off the gas when upshifting. while the jakes are slowing the motor down, start pulling on the gear lever then touch the accelerator. the lever will move to neutral, and if you stay on the accelerator your rpm will rise to allow you into the next gear. or, simply refrain from letting off the fuel totally. with electronic throttles, you can let off so the pedal is only part depressed and the rpm will drop as if you are off it completely for a moment

  • @blowjobjohnson thats funny because if u dont let off the accelerator ur jake wont come on..... Learn how to truck b4 u try to teach someone else how

  • @jimbothrowsknives I never said they would come on with the fuel engaged.... maybe you need to learn to read?

  • @247copenhagen once u get it, it's fun :)

  • love that truck

  • same sounding as the ones they put in there pickups. alot bigger though lol

  • love that truck keep the mufflers off that cummins rock

  • Looks like your in Pa somewhere? Just curious, I just moved back from there, thats exactly what it looked like where I was.

  • I used to drive an 86 freightshaker cabover had a big cam cummins engine, think it was 400hp. 8inch straight pipes all mechanical none of that computer garbage. i used to love the insults and dirty looks id get as i flew by the "big dogs" with there little cat motors.

  • sounds awesome

  • my favorite video

  • Is this a truck? :)

  • Turn the Jakes off while you are shifting next time

  • sounds cool to me r.l.s.

  • love it n 14 rocks

  • hey, how does the jake break work? ive heard it hangs the exhaust valves open?

  • @SUZUKIRIDERR that is correct, it does leave the exhaust valves open, thereby releasing compression...slows the motor with the truck in gear, it slows the truck.

  • lol looks like you had alot of fun making this video!

  • Dammit you gotta quit doing drive bys with that 50 Calibur Machine Gun

  • can u make another vid on the same truck going down hill without the mufflers and jake braking

  • one of a kind jake it sounds like it has three stage jake on it

  • whats the point of jake brake?

  • @JumPShotZ2 look up Jacobs engine brakes they can explain the whole thing better but in short uses the engine as a brake to help keep the brakes from heating up and failing .

  • @JumPShotZ2 to slow the truck down faster instead of burning ur brakes.

  • n-14, baby! all the way, hitting the jakes

  • bet all the neighbors appreciate you

  • WHERE IS THAT ? ,INDIANA

  • There was a really loud 5 axle kenworth t800 dump at work yesterday and today and i think it had an n14 but never got the chance to ask the driver.....but it sounded badass!

  • Is the exhauste pipe on the underside of the truck?

  • MAN DAMN U CAN DRIVE. IT GIVES ME THE CHILLS. GOOD DRIVING MAN.

  • They dont call em jerk brakes for nothin...

  • the one i drive sounds very similar..baffles are shot...but no jake :'(

  • sounds like a beast

  • Very Cool!!! You had to wake the county up that.

  • sounds so mean. gotta love the jake

  • love the sound that awesome

  • changing with out the clutch haha mean sounding truck

  • @MegaBigboy13 why would they shift with the clutch...

takes longer and hard on the leg

  • @mageac not to mention hard on the clutch/throwout/etc..

  • i wonder if a engine like this would fit in a s10 ha

  • hell yeah, that is fooking pud pulling nice, jeez man i want that as a ring tone , lovely.

  • sounds great!

  • Lond and proud for life bitches!

  • Danm that cummins sounds nice

  • great sounding engine & jakes dude! love it

  • is this a 13 speed. it sounds sometimes like the driver was moving a botton

  • thats a badass cummins, where was the video taken, it looks somewhere in the eastern states but im not sure

  • wow that sounds great. Cummins and detroits have the 2 most noticeable motors out of any diesel ever produced

  • What type of truck is it?

  • Cummins is the best engine out there, in my opinion. But regardless of what engine a truck has, i LOVE the sound of a jake brake...

  • NEM427 if by "Laden" you mean loaded I have went 91 MPH in Nebraska @ 71150. 1992 Pete 379 - 3406B Cat Mechanical 425 HP - 18 Spd - 3:55 Eaton Rears with 24.5 Tall Rubber., Sunshine This is an old girl with 925000 rounds on her. >> dirtbike125r - I love this vid and you have great skills, The only point I disagree with is the slam on the CAT. Cummins are a great motor and over 1500 they are unstoppable. That being said off idle pure grunt the CAT will take it. Keep up the good work.

  • no your a jackass, mufflers were off while the truck was being repaired. then they were put back on....... pretty plain and smiple

  • no your a jackass, mufflers were off while the truck was being repaired. then they were put back on....... pretty plain and smiple

  • @Veikster177

Think something's put a hole in your brain. Can't spell, don't comment!

  • @Veikster177 how exactly do you put a hole in a muffler with a jake brake???? have you seen the inside of a muffler?? do you know how one works? your an idiot! and i disagree the ACERT twin turbo C-15 cat is a fucking joke and just about any cat from 1995 to now are all shit they lack serious balls and theres no way a cat can keep up with a 500 cummins isx my dads tried it and it out pulled our cat effortlessly. your just one of those wanna be chicken haulers

  • This has to be the best sounding engine ever!

I'm thinking about putting one of these in my ford f650

  • same power and torque. twice the price and more money to maiintain. oh ya way better

  • @dirtbike125r ain't it funny how being yellow it is priced like it's gold?

  • @kyleown3925 i agree 3406 or C15 the best

  • @MrThemaster1980 60 series detroit has a pretty aggressive brake to

  • @CustomDeluxe1984 My friend has a 60 series and it has no mufflers. ITS LOUD!!

  • @kyleown3925 Can you explain why my red top Cummins will eat every C13 and C15 Cat I come across then? I even hung a bag of kitty temptations on my tailgate and that 550 C15 couldn't touch me.

  • @kyleown3925 yes i agree but i like them both that same.

  • is this 2stroke?

  • What kinda truck is this?? But the engine is kickass!!!
