@spystyle First off, who is this "us" that you speak of? I wasn't aware that you were in any fashion associated with me or my close knit group of friends to cinsider it "us"... Second: A curse word is just a word like any other. You're obviously part of the closed minded group of individuals who have been brainwashed into believing that some words are worse somehow than others.... I on the other hand do not subscribe to the mode of thinking and i don't feel that it reflects at all on my intelect
I have to suggest that you go out and collect unwanted aluminium cans, if you advertise locally, I imagine you could develop a weekly route around your neighbourhood providing a free disposal service and step up your operation to a profitable concern. You'd also be providing a valuable saving in landfill space and doing the planet a favour !!
Dribble on the ground..."I made that. It's amazing"...do you say the same thing when you dribble in front of the toilet? Sorry I'm not trying to troll or anything but it was really funny. And a crucible made out of a spray paint can? You couldn't make that stuff up. Seriously, though the stainless one won't last long either. You could make one by sawing off a chunk of thick walled tube (at least 1/4" thick wall) and weld a plate to one end of it. Should last a few dozen pours.
First of all you cannot make parts until you know what type of grade will hold up to whatever you need the part for. Cans are a high grade of aluminum and wouldn't be good for parts. So is aluminum foil that is what makes it so flexable. Also have you tried mixing your aluminum with flux (salt) before you pour it? That is what is making it hard to pour! And you have to skim the top off and or remove the slag! If you don't know what your doing molten can be very dangerous!
isn't it full of inclusion ? ...anyway great that you could get your fire at around 1800 degree celcius to melt the aluminium ...i didn't catch though if you where able to melt steel ? it takes like 2400 + degrees ..can you attain that with your drum bucket ?
@xxnethersxx they are to be melted down later. you make a mold out of sand in the sahpe you want and pour in the aluminum. break away the sand and you have your part...
@ClayPigeonKilla this is one of the reasons im wathing this vidio to make custom parts for random inventions im making like hydrogen fuel cells and steam things and what not :P but aluminium is easy to get and easy to mold :D
That's pretty cool, once you've got them poured in to the molds an there cooled off as ingots. What do you do with them, take them to the recycling been, or do some thing else with them?
It is neither It is simply scrap wood that we had laying around. The fan is similar to something out of your heater unit in your home... you can use pretty much anything that burns but the fan is necessary to keep the heat up. We put a pyrometer in this and iit was reading as high as 1872 degrees...
@ClayPigeonKilla gos to show how importaunt oxygen is to fire :P because i found a easy way to get iron :D all you need is basicly dirt from your yard and a magnet shazam IRON! well iron oxide it will stick to the magnet but apear to be dirt you may get a little or a lot but you said 1800F im guesing umm i think thats hot enoughf to melt iron and add some coal and you got steel
My ingots are also made in a mufins tray and its works also very nice .
it makes small ingots but that way you can use only the aluminium you nedd dont make to much on excess because it gets weaker if you reuse it several times
i didn't go to any class... i learned from watching other people do it on youtube. my only suggestion would be to make sure and have a good pair of welding gloves and goggles. safety first... :)
Clay's right. Saftey first. It's realy easy to get swept up in the excitement of this craft and forget. I took metals 1 and 2 at my highschool but youtube is where I got the aluminum idea. Good luck and stay safe.
you can make whatever you wnat with the propep sand mold but i wouldn't recomend weapons as it is only aluminum although you can melt copper and brasss in a similar fashion.
could make some fake money out of that quarter

@DeltaBravo1216 i don't know if foil will work but if it will you'll probably need a shit load...
even using aluminum cans it takes quite a few to get a substantial amount.
