Its all about option mate ive got every album every single and been on every tour apart from one and I think pure is best but you dont machine and soul numan thinks is his poorest but fans love it only when gary came out and said it was bad the fans did to my opinion numan has never made a bad album
I hated Pure, and Jagged has about 3 or 4 songs worth the listen that were'nt all depressing and made you feel like it was a Nine Inch Nails or marilyn manson cd full of sad songs (Don't get me wrong,I love Manson, and old NIN before that With Teeth junk).
I just could'nt get into Pure. It all sounded the same to me.
To me it did, but that's my opinion, someone else may listen to that record and love it. i grew up with Dance, Telekon, and the Principle, when I heard all his depressing Exile, Pure, and Jagged it just was'nt for me.
Hey, i dont understand how you critisize jagged for being depressing whilst your favourite numan album "Dance" is a very depressing record (but fantastic at the same time). You could say Jagged is like a modern Dance, its themes and lyrics are at times quite depressing but at the same time its just fantastic to listen to.
only about 3 or 4 songs on dance are "upbeat", the rest are somber, but still masterpieces :)
@PatrickIngham21 WTF?? JAGGED IS LIKE A MODERN DANCE?? That's like comparing faeces to God!! I get what you're saying about the downbeat tone of both albums but there's no way you can put half-arsed, repetetive, droney, under-produced mucus like Jagged up against a truly world-class effort like Dance. Get a grip man....
@Rickets1968 i guess your one of those numan fans who only like his 79-81 work? So i wont waste my breath trying to convince you that his new stuff is good too. but you need to understand and respect that some fans LOVE both DANCE AND JAGGED (i do) and dont hate me for it!!!
@PatrickIngham21 You're wrong about 79-81 Patrick. I Assassin, Berserker,The Fury, Metal Rhythm, Sacrifice and Pure were all great albums too.
But how is Jagged 'new stuff''? It's 5 years old. I understand that this is all subjective but I defy anyone to put one of the laziest and most boring things Numan has ever done up against the creative genius that is represented in Dance.
Oh, and I don't hate you either. Why would I? You sent me the White Boys & Heroes remix!
@Rickets1968 Good good im glad to hear you like a range of numans work, and understand that not all of it is great (sacrifice has awful production). and your right jagged is not new anymore lol but i dont get why people outright hate jagged, sure it has a few songs that are crap but on the whole its an awsome powerful album and works really well live too. i like it as much as pure. anyway lets just leave it at that and see what this "new" dead son rising album is like when its out in June!
@Rickets1968 Oh by the way, are you attending the gig tonight or tomoz? im doing London tommorrow, look forward to hearing the new stuff and some of the old stuff he has promised , and the big light show apparently! :)
@PatrickIngham21 I was surprised to hear that he's re-jigging the setlist (Crash - fucking hell!) and that he's putting on a big lightshow - all good news. But I won't be going. It's not an anti-new-Numan thing, I just don't have the inclination to travel to see him anymore after the 25th anniversary gig at SBE.
