  • kandg, wow! thanks...hmmm castle eh? That gets me thinking!

  • It was 4 tiers and had flowers made of bibs, socks and baby towels coming out of the top. I love the diaper cake you made. It is so beautiful. I like the idea of the can of milk at the top. I icing on the cake was the crown. I enjoyed your video. Thanks

  • Oh my goodness it sounds pretty terrific! do you have a photo link?

  • Thank you so much for this tutorial! My daughter is due in November and I am making this cake for her tonight. I'm off to Walmart! Thanks again, great job.

  • Well shucks Cutie, thank you! Have fun with your cake!

  • great work !!!Beautiful cake!

  • Thanks BabyCupid!

  • If you don't mind me asking, about how much does it usually cost to make one of thesE?

  • Britty, It actually depends on where you purchase the diapers and how many ribbons, trims, and gifts you add on. For a bare bones, you're looking at the cost of diapers and 3 (or 4 if you go that high) blankets...about $35-$50 depending on the quality. There are between 50 and 80 diapers, so the cost gives the recipient a week or so of diapers. A bare bones diaper/blankie only cake still looks fab and will make a great gift. You can use curly ribbon instead of wide, cheap instead of $! Thanks

  • The music is "The Planets", suite for orchestra and female chorus, Op 32 H125, Number 4, "Jupiter the Bringer of Peace" by Leonard Bernstein.

  • super duper cute!!!

  • Thanks cowroll!

  • I love your cake.... your presentation was great and made it easy to understand the methods for a new beginner

  • Thanks kingshadow! You won't be a beginner for too long...these are addictive!

  • It was awesome ,,, The music not so much! But iver all great job on your cake it looks nice.

  • mrslovely, Thanks! Yeah, I know, crazy music; but they restrict you on what you can put up without copyrights, so I guess it's good that you can shut the music off! : ) Have fun making your cakes!

  • FYI, I Love the colors on this cake, 2 bad all mine are for boys or else I would have used these same colors !!! And this is wear I am having the problem Fold the blanket on the diagonal, like do I fold it in half (into a triangle) and then fold the top over?

  • Pause at 4:16 in the video. I agree, it's hard to see, but study the way the blanket is folded. The outside corners are not folded so much as they are left at a point. The fold allows the ends to remain pointed. Pause the video at 4:19/20- you can see it better there. The blanket is going to be TIGHT to fit. Unless your blanket is larger than most you mat have enough room to tuck a straight edge. If not, just pin the two points and continue. Thanks on the colour choices, I love options!

  • great instruction but the colors are a bit too much

  • Catina, I chose the colours for two reasons, One of those was the contrast they would provide on the tutorial. All in all it totally up to you which colours you chose. The best way to go is to try and match the colours to the decor of the baby's room or the new mommy's preference. There are SO many choices out there, I'm sure you'll be able to come up with a design you love. Thanks for commenting!

  • lol, Muumuushuu! Oh my heck girl! I'm sorry you're having such a hard time. It's hard for me to know exactly where the problem is without being right there, but I *think* maybe that bottom layer might be a tad too big around. NO worries, either take out a diaper or like you did, just add a small gift in front of the gap. As far as a square, sure! It's just a matter of making it that shape instead of round. Make each side equal and just keep en eye on those corners. Hope that helps! : )

  • Okay u are gonna kill me, cause I thought I had it but I just cant seem to get that bottom blanket, I ended up just leaving the space there and then covering it with a bib, It looked really cute but I would have loved to figure out that bottom blanket, One question what do u think could be used to make a square diaper cake or do u think that is impossible??

  • Oh Muumuushuu! So sorry you had such trouble! Also sad that I took so long to reply...I have been traveling today ( for 12 hours straight...ack!) Any who, glad you could answer about the towels and happy you found out how to fold that bottom blanket. Yup It's a bit tricky, but not impossible! : )

  • arrgh, okay i just checked it out again and I finally figured out what I was doing wrong

  • Oh and the baby bottles worked out just great and it was an additional neccesity for the baby, I thought the blankets might have been to heavy for the bottles to support, But they weren't.. I still have 3 more to make and I am trying to come up with something different

  • I'm having trouble figuring out how to fold that bottom blanket, I mean I see the video and all, But for some reason its not sinking into my brain. Oh and for the lady about the towels.. Take it from me its not gonna work.. You have to use washcloths, Even the hand towels get to bulky and they don't look as neat, It is possible to use handtowel, But I found the washcloths were easier to manage. Make sure u know the colors of the bathroom my friend still has her "cake" in the bathroom

  • Shiahian, Great idea! The bath towels might get a bit bulky, but give it a try! If they don't work you can always try hand or guest towels. hmmmm, now you got me thinking!

  • That wine bottle would be a great idea with bath towels for a housewarming.

  • Muumuushuu, Glad I could help! I think baby bottles could be used, sure! The cider bottle has more height, weight, and girth, but in the long run I don't think it matters to the cake! Thanks for for an additional idea and for viewing!

  • Knot, I made a few of these but I could never figure out how to do the blankets(Thanks for sharing) But what I want to know is, Can I use baby bottles on the inside instead, That is what I normally do.

  • Thanks tmorris's daughter! I think you're the first to recognize "Jupiter"...awesome! GLad I could help out!

  • I thought this was pretty cool. My mother's throwing a baby shower tomorrow and needed a few pointers on her cake.

I also thought the use of "Jupiter" was pretty epic. I sung it for chorus once and couldn't help but sing along as mother brain stormed.

(this is her account, not mine by the way)

  • Thanks. I hope you enjoy yourself...it's pretty easy and a quick put together. Once you do one, you'll be doing many!

  • WOW! That is amazing. I can't wait to try it!

  • Thanks! After you one your head will be spinning with other ways to dress this cake up!

(Don't forget to rate this video!...Thanks!)

  • WOW......Thats absolutely beautiful honey!!....and it looks pretty easy...

  • Great idea!

  • I am having my 1st grandchild in Jan.I am already planning a baby shower{in my head}! I will make one of these! I will add a bunch of baby items on the outside and use it as a centerpiece and also as a game. Pass it around, and then take it away, and see how many items they remember! Thanks!

  • This has been the best video on diaper cakes so far. What kind of tissue did you use? Also, does the cereal can sit directly on top of the bottle head?

  • Thanks Yaumre! (did you remember to rank the video, thanks again!) I just used regular tissue paper, the kind you line gift boxes with. The cereal or formula can is the fourth level on the cake. It sits on the last (3rd) level of diapers. So technically it is sitting on diapers that have been wrapped around the top of the bottle neck. (check the video at about 5:00..that should help you see the placement.)

  • i LOVE it!!! So adorable- I love that you covered the diapers with blankets and tissue paper- I hadn't seen that anywhere else! I cant wait for someone I know to have a baby so I can make one for them :) hehe. Thanks for sharing!!

  • thanks Jenna! I can't take original credit for all the ideas, however I had not seen a tutorial on this kind of 'cake'. I took ideas from this cake and that cake and there you go. You can change out the center bottle of cider with any similar shaped items, like formula cans, etc. Make it your own style and have fun!!! Thanks for commenting.

  • Kabbott, You could also use formula, cereal, or other baby type products that are tall or can be stacked tall as the centerpiece! Go crazy!

    Thanks for commenting!

  • This is GREAT!! Thank you for your video!! I have 2 really good friends that are having babies around the same time and wanted to make one of these for them (one is a boy the other a girl) I never thought about putting a suprise for mom and dad in the middle (the bottle)... I am so excited to get started now!!!

  • My you have to be speedy gonzales to read and follow teh instructions!!

  • Ack! I'm sorry the text flies by so quickly...however I have great news! You can always use the pause button to read them at your pace! I often do that with videos I enjoy, read, get more visual detail...whatever you need!

If you have any further questions, keep writing! Thanks for you comment! : )

  • great instructions - thank you!
