  • i really liked this movie but years later after watching it i'm not sure what i watched or how i should feel about it. it seemed like a tragic story but it wasn't a total downer. i really think i should watch it again.

  • hahah , dickkens is funny

  • i was fucking creeped out after this movie

  • Does Baron Munchaussen make a cameo?

  • looks scary.

  • i like many other terry gilliam's movies but this one was pretty bad imo.

  • Just finished the movie not what i excpected but overall pretty good will say this though that has to be the most bizarre movie ive ever seen

  • This movie was truly a masterpiece with amazing writing, acting, directing production, etc. all the way down the line, and probably the best movie I've ever seen in that respect. Many years after having seen it and I still get nightmares.

  • I watched this movie when I was maybe 14 and I thought it was fucked up. I'm a fan of weird, of sad stories, movies that make me think. I certainly don't watch "Friends" and don't go after Hollywood blockbusters. When I was around that age I especially had a fascination with anything that most people would find strange, but I couldn't finish this movie. I'm sure that distorts my opinion. In some ways I wanna try watching it again, but 5 years later I'm still not sure what I'd think.

  • @lilaclace7 I hear ya bro, I saw this when I was about 16/17-ish and craved weird and disturbing, but I still get nightmares from it.

  • Охуительный фильмец)))

  • fuck! how did i miss this??

  • looks like a head fuck of a film to me

  • I didn't really understand what the film was trying to say. I mean, I tried to look at it through the eyes of a child, yet even then it just comes off as horrific and really sad. (It was a good horror film) I mean, he says "If it's disturbing it's because it's innocent." I can understand that since I am a big fan of Michael Jackson, a man who tried to live in childlike innocence yet is found by many to be disturbing. But, the film just wasn't for me. (Jeff Bridges was awesome though)

  • Like many of Terry Gilliam films, this film deals with the value of fantasy and imagination, but more-so than in his other films explores how fantasy can turn bad when taken to extremes and without any modicum of sanity to balance things out.

  • @northnomad: Your comment is fantastic, and is probably the stance I will take about this film from now on! :D

  • I'm tired of people sassing others for their disliking this film. Everyone has different tastes in films, let's not judge each other based on that.

  • is this like other Jodelle films that the story is at its best but its still a movie thats horror like, cause im a guy of stories but in the horrors that Jodelle plays i do care more for the people in it that with other movies in general, that makes it a very deep and great story for me, but gives me a great scare too . Will i find that in this film?

  • 1:21-1:55 name of song or something :) plzzzz.

  • I'm a bit of a film buff and I truly believe this is the greatest film ever. It captures the fragility of childhood in such a moving (and very entertaining, albeit 'dark') way that I think it as important as any piece of art that has passed before my eyes.

  • @billbt I couldn't agree more. I think it's an incredibly moving portrait of childhood innocence.

  • its my 21st time to watch this movie i have a pirated cd (ooopss \m/ of this <3 this its like im back on my childhood everytime i 've watched this thanks for uploading :)

  • @MsAngelmistress if u watched the movie 21 times ur just sad, go do something els with your time besides watching 1 movie over and over, sorry i just had to say it

  • @vuffer100 hi there no if your understanding is i watched the movie tideland for one day (21st time repeated and my eyes just there in the screen) it is Not.. of course watching movie is not just my life,i have a lot of things to do in my life to survive its just its my happiness to watch one of the movie that i cant forget...that;s it :) have a good day vuff

  • jodelle ferland i love you!!

  • I stayed up all night one time and this was on at about 7:30 AM. I laid down on the couch and just kinda watched it trying to fall asleep. I honestly thought I was hallucinating from sleep deprivation and it wasn't actually that weird; turns out it was. Also I laugh at the hipsters "Its so deep and meaningful, but you totally won't get it. Now I'm off to hot topic to totally get the newest fashions."

  • i saw this movie 3 years ago, and was blown away by it.. It was amazing to see 'the world' the girl was in in her own way to make things perhaps seem less bad and real then it was to her.

  • For some reason, this reminds me of Pan's Labyrinth a little. Looks like a movie I'd definitely like to see.

  • That makes it look less disturbing than it actually is

  • Ughhh never read comments under a trailer if you still need to see the movie >< I just read what happend :') Shittttt ,aahwww going to watcht it anyway !

  • this was the wierdest shit I have ever watched.

  • Brandon Fletcher is a tremendous actor.

  • what a weird and disturbing movie !

  • looks pretty stupid

  • Tell you what, this is the first film I have watched Jodelle Ferland. Definitely not he last. She’s a serious actress like wtf o0… I was struck. So this is what happens when a good director and a good actress come together

The movie was sweet and sad and gloomy at the same time. One minute you're smiling the other you're going OMG!! This is not your average film there. This is a piece of art.

  • Tell you what, this is the first film I have watched Jodelle Ferland. Definitely not the last. She's a serious actress like wtf o0... I was struck. So this is what happens when a good director and a good actress come together.

The movie is actually very sweet (her imaginary world) ... and very sad at the same time( the reality)... oh yes and very gloomy(the plot). Loved every minute. One minute you smile the other you're going OMG!! Not your average movie there...

  • I had the saddest saddest dream ever after this- I woke up crying!?!

  • I'm high right now and what is this?

  • ive seen this its an emotional rollercoster

  • I have a book out called Christian Teaching; look for this ISBN Number: 978-1-4512-8025-8, and you will find the book. You can purchase it from Publish America's website. Enjoy!

  • You know what; What if Jodelle Ferland played in a movie together with Dakota Fanning? Just think for a minute. Jodelle Ferland and Dakota Fanning are rivals, and they get together, and they play a in the Karate Kid. Mr. Meigge--played by Jackie Chan Now--trains Dakota Fanning's Character to fight against Jodelle Ferland's Character, who is the villan in this one. What about that?

  • this looks TERRIFYING

  • Always focus on the characters of the movies; try not to focus too much on the celebrities because that leads to obsession, and obsession leads to stocking, and stocking leads to restraining order. Restraining order leads to limitations and loss of freedom.

  • @rockypallo

I do believe you meant stalking.

  • @Jhettegirl Thank you for that; My bad. Obsession leads to stalking, and stalking leads to restraining orders.

  • Gorgeous!!!

  • Love this movie.....Gilliam is insanely brilliant.....dreams brought to film!

  • the retard and the dying mother was a bit too scary for my stoned mood, but rest was a pleasant trip to an unknown world

  • Sad, sad world when people don't understand what NOIRE means. Terry Gilliam is brilliant, his films are very disturbing usually, and very disjointed in ways that baffle most people. And if you want something easy to understand, go rent something from the "Twilight" genre, or "What you did last summer" tripe. Not understanding Gilliam and commenting that his film as crap, is like a butcher trying to build a sky~scraper, just forget it, and please don't bother. NEXT! t("t)

  • @xXdoctorXXGoNzOXx but you have to admit, this is not one of Terry GIlliam's best films

  • @xXdoctorXXGoNzOXx Nope, he's an overrated asshole that doesn't understand the meaning of tone. Take Brazil for example: Is it a post apocalyptic social commentary? Is it a love story? Is it a pathetic attempt at slap-stick? No! It's all 3 of those combined into a mess! Go watch the bucket list again you retard

  • @xXdoctorXXGoNzOXx A butcher trying to build a skyscraper? Lmao what? Understanding your metaphors is like understanding this film.

  • @xXdoctorXXGoNzOXx Not thinking that something is good does not necessarily mean one is too stupid or shallow to properly understand or appreciate it. Maybe some of us who do in fact understand it don't find it particularly deep or profound. Also, people spontaneously bringing up Twilight and how bad it is all the time is getting really tiresome.

  • @loljustice31 I completely agree, on all points

  • @loljustice31 if u understand the movie u WILL think that it has a deep meaning, human been is a social animal, what we believe its right or wrong is how society has teached us to be, that doesnt mean that this aproach is correct(specially on taboos) cuz some concepts has changed it "social status" over the years like homosexuality. Kids and mentally disabled ppl are not fully contaminated by society view giving them a more objective understanding, example kids r not racist

  • @xXdoctorXXGoNzOXx That may be, but ALL films are subject to personel opinion, and slamming someone else for not agreeing with you is really just as sad.

  • @xXdoctorXXGoNzOXx lol funny u should mention twilight cuz i just looked up that the main lil girl in this movie was on twilight lol. aside from that fluke in movie role choices , shes a good actress in all of her horror movies shes been in

  • i love Jodellle Ferland! <3

  • This movie is amazing, one of the best I ever seen, this film is grate because Jodelle Ferland's performance

  • This film is brilliant! Amazing ballance of beauty and horror. Like Gilliam, I am not at all suprised by the "haters". Go back to watching "Friends", and Hollywood blockbusters. Youre as deep as a drop of rain, and not even worth that analogy

  • nice movie

  • OMG IT'S THE LITTLE GIRL FROM KINGDOM HOSPITAL 8|

  • great film one of my favour

  • Why exactly was this called Tideland? Just curious.

  • @IPunchaUInTheFace 1:34 -Every once in a while, the prairie goes underwater.

  • This movie was disturbing.

  • this movie um... kinda made me throw up :/

  • You really need to clear two whole, quiet hours to watch this movie and then an entire weekend to let it sink in. No matter if you love it or hate it, you won't forget it.

  • Jeff Bridges is in this movie? nice!

    Now I gotta see it!

  • This looks awful.

  • Is it like Pan's Labyrinth? It looks pretty scary.

  • Before silent hill ...

  • Looks weird as fuck...

  • @rockypallo umm NOBODY CARES

  • attention: do NOT see this sic, psycho movie.... I've just but I want to forget every single detail on it...

  • ...Jeliza-Rose and Dickens were both innocent and lonely, so I was just happy for them that they found a friend in each other. Someone to accept them as they are. Hard to find in this world. Most people are so cynical and uptight. So I thought it was sweet. And she was the aggressor more often than not, people seem blind to that. I guess I just empathize with "weird" people more than most. I was more unsettled by Dell making out with the delivery guy. Jodelle = cute, Dell...just no LOL

  • @SilentLaughter9 Well, you have to understand that Jeliza had no business peeking in her property. Also, Dickens was mentally challenged, and Jeliza-Rose was an 8 year old girl that did not know any better, so them finding each other was not that good of a news lol.

  • Amazing movie. Watched because I'm a fan of Jodelle Ferland, always thought she was like the cutest thing ever (and now a beautiful young woman), but this really made me respect her acting talent. However, maybe its because I've already seen so many "weird" films (Miike, anyone?), or because I'm a little weird myself, but this wasn't as disturbing as everyone made it out to be. I was like "that's it?" LOL If you want sick and disturbing, watch the opening of Seed, that shit is real.

  • omg I remember renting this shit movie, and someone listed movies that would fit my taste. D: Now this horrible piece of shit came back 2 me. Burn this movie, it's terrible.

  • shit movie

  • Never seen the movie, but the girls voice is cute! Probably cuz I love british tho.. cx

  • @MinniHowl Its not british..

  • @dinodemic oh well, I guess I thought it was.

    What is it then?

  • why do british people always have to come up with the trippiest stuff?

  • After reading the comments here I have come to find that 99% of you are retarded. Just saying.

  • @CarbombSymphony heeeey macarena

  • The actor that played the father's corpse played in the new movie, Tron. This movie, Tron, is the new version of the origional Tron that was played in the 1980's or 70's.

  • Now that was an 8 year old girl handling a suringe and helping her father shoot up. But the story was good.

  • melodramas are garbage.

  • i was on acid (LSD) one night and i was flipping through the channels and this was on. it was ridiculous haha

  • so fucking sick

  • just finished watching this. its weird as fuck. not in a good way , its disturbing and sick and gross.

  • Hipster alarm!!!!!!!!!!

  • Whoever plays that little girl is an awesome actress, I can't believe a girl this age can play a role this well. I seen her in Case 39 as well, I believe she's going to be an acting legend. Tideland was awesome, two thumbs up to Terry Gilliam I love all his movies. Good acting from all the actors in this movie but brilliant acting from that very talented little girl.

  • @blain147 jodelle ferland

Yep I "discovered" her in silent hill and if she works hard and somebody follows her closely she can be a great actress

  • @blain147 her manes is jodelle ferland and she's 16 now

  • @blain147 name*

  • How disturbing is it?

I know the rotting corpse thing but what other disturbing elements are in this movie that makes it really hard to watch? I'm curious O_o

  • @livster493 from what I remember, some sexual-ish parts that are mostly hidden or implied, some dead animals/taxonomy, talking to inanimate objects, odd dreamsequences, that's pretty much it. I don't think it makes it that hard to watch ^^ There are much more disturbing things in the world; and although disturbing this movie has the power to tie you close to it in wonder and suspense

  • @TrytheGreenOne

Thats it?! Pan's Labyrinth is more disturbing than that XD

  • @livster493 umm no dude this movie is on another level of disturbing. Like uncomfortably... pans labyrinth was a disney movie in comparison.

  • I had high expectations before seeing the movie, but it turned to be a disappointment. Except for the girl all the characters are either insane or retarded. Story is extremely dull. Scenery is insanely depressing or sometimes disgusting. Yet the film is too long.

  • looks like a superbowl-commercial for LSD

  • the trailer makes the movie look like shit

it turned out really better than what i expected

  • One thing I have to say about this movie is that Ebert and Ropert did not like it at all. I tell you, movie critics messes it up for everybody else. Just watch the movie for yourself, and you decide because everybody is a critic.

  • Im watching this movie tonight. Hopefully I enjoy it :)

  • This is a really weird horror film...

  • @MarioMarioSMBZ It's not a horror film; it is just about a little girl with nothing to do or eat.

  • @rockypallo it is pretty horrifying

  • Its time for daddy´s vacation. This film is awesome.

  • @Nirssimha It's time for my vacation; please pass the "Hungry Man" T.V. Dinner?!

  • how do you find the route to your life? it doesn't have a plot trajectory that we can see until we turn the final page of a chapter. this movie mesmerized me. i keep watching it. i'm a netflix subscriber and i spend hours browsing through loads of steaming bullshit calling themselves movies. but to me, a good movie never leaves you. it changes you. this one even helped me make peace with my own childhood. god bless everyone involved in this movie.

long live the elisa rose in all of us

  • Okay, this does not make any since; I am trying to sleep but cannot get to dream land, but this girl is not even trying to sleep, and she is already in dream land.

  • This movie for some reason made me feel bad inside after...

  • @TickleMehNancy It was probably the little girl's father's carcass.

  • @rockypallo No it actually wasn't.

  • @TickleMehNancy Was it because she was an orphan now, and the house was falling apart or her friend, Dicken's, death in the train reck? I thought I might ack sir.

  • @rockypallo There was just something really weird about this movie that afterward made me feel ew. I didn't feel bad for the girl really, it was just dark even though nothing dark really happened...

  • @TickleMehNancy Okay, I see now.

  • @ wat really made this movie amazing for me was the fact that wen i drive by houses like the one they lived in out in the country sometimes i think wat kind of people would live in there. and then while watching this movie i imagined going passed the house and seeing the little girl outside with the disabled guy.. and jus realised how insanely well made this movie is.. from her perspective ur immersed in her world but if u were an outsider looking in it would be the most FUCKED UP THING EVER

  • Is this rated R?

  • @Commentergirl3000 It's probably rated PG13 or PG Weird.

  • @Commentergirl3000 Yea but for good reasons.

  • Did Alisa Rose know that her father was dead?

  • One of my favorite movies. Twisted and trippy just the way I like it.

    And Jodelle is awesome.

  • Watched this ;ast night and was surpised how good it was. I shouldn't have been surprised though with Terry Gilliam behind the wheel.

  • wtf why haven't i seen this?!

  • could sb explain me what is this movie about i cant get a thing.

  • @markobrkic1996 OKAY: Its about how r u loosing ur childhood. Well atleast i felt that. I love jodelle. i love the movie i love terry gilliam

  • There needs to be a Christmas Version of this and a video game on this. This girl should play Bastian's daughter in The Neverendingstory part IV if they ever come out with one. It can be where Bastian finally dies, and his wife and daughter remains, and the daughter that takes the inheritance of the book of The Neverending Story.

  • There is so much crazy in this movie without any dilution it is hard to watch

  • I've seen this movie three times and I still don't understand it at all.

  • ive watched dis movie so many times before... its kinda weird but its cool!! :D

  • i wish criterion would release this on blu ray.

  • It looks like Coraline for adults

  • @Trigun06 thats exactly what i thought!

  • @Trigun06 I cAnt agree more :)

  • @Trigun06 Or Pan's Labyrinth for (maladjusted) children.

  • youtube rocks!

  • It's great for creative people.

  • @brozeiy How do you figure that?

  • I saw this movie and I can tell it really disturbed me... I can´t even describe it.

  • Reminds me of the "End of Evangelion Movie"

  • thats not imaginative, thats just disorganized thought

  • Woah now paleorchid. I absolutely love South Park. And I also happen to love this film too. South Park gets an unfair bashing for being simply childish, when in fact it combines the fart jokes with highly intelligent and thought provoking satire. Give it a chance. Go on!

  • I hate this movie, just wanted to say that, u know your movie sucks when the most interesting thing on screen is the rotting corpse of Jeff Bridges. (If by some chance Jeff Bridges is reading this, nothing personal and i have to say you are the man)

  • A movie for under 15 year olds.

  • THIS is as good as movies can get !!!....so so so f*cking brilliant

  • Jeff Bridges lol

  • ii love terry giliam's films

  • @D3spinara yeah too hard to follow no real story line shit just popped out of nowhere for nothing

  • this movie is incredible :) messed up but it was great, the girls acting was great as aha

  • I haven't seen "Tideland" yet, but I'm not setting my expectations high for it.

  • Don't diss south park paleorchid13.

  • Yea, I remember watching this movie on the tv maybe two or so years ago. It was a nice little wonder in itself.

  • wtf? movie looks trippy, never heard of it before now.

  • i like this film. most of people say it's worst film by Terry but i still think it's not. It looks like a narcotic trip through the illusions and dreams anyway Terry still has his own style in this film. There is some kind of overplaying but it's not bad.

  • que pelicula mas horrible -.-

    aburrida

    sin sentido

    malisima

  • a mite watch this like. Reckon the bairn is old enough? 8 years ? A like dodgy movies like this, Pans Labyrinth was Shit Hot! New alice in wonderland better live up to my fucking expectations i tell u that.

  • nobody has the attention span anymore to watch anything remotely eloquent . Just video games and South park .....
