Take note of the woman in the front row. It takes THREE people to do this performance. The two on stage, and the one in the front row who is signing what is spoken so Ayisha Knight can stay in sync with what she can't hear. Lots of people talk about working together "outside the box", about collaborative arts, but never will understand.
The counselor on a deaf community Deafornot dot c om said that "People who may be defined as clinically deaf (unable to hear spoken language) may or may not be members of the Deaf community."
i love this simply cause she said not lesbian enough because i loved a man.....and being gay myself....WOW! kudos. damn poetry are words and words are sounds...i guess def poetry is twice is better...love this poem
yours, too? Ayisha is the first teacher I learned ASL from. I doubt I would have loved it so much, or learned it so well, were it not for her. She's amazing.
I watched this with both the sound and without and trust me the poem is much more beautiful in Sign Language. The poem has alot more meaning with just the signs and without the signs. The poet herself is Deaf and it was written in Sign Language first. its definatly one of my favorites
haha i liked how they did the Deaf applause at the end. does anybody know if this was written down in english first? because [to me anyways] the translation sounded more beautiful than the signed version.[but that might be because i was struggling to keep up haha]
I thought I was crazy, this girl said "it dont take that long to buy no stamps"...LOL....she is right about some of these women out there...I liked this
Uplifing in many ways to anyone who's experienced the feelings that the author has...thank you for posting it gave me hope for I too was a "victim" b4 I embraced survivor. Kudos girl!
