  • Looks great! COuld you please post your cake recipe?, I'm desperately trying to know what type of cake is best for fondant cakes, one that is dense so you can carve easily, I have already use mud cake, works great, but some clients prefer vanilla and that's the recipe I need, please!!!!!

  • Looking amazing. I'm actually using janellscakes' tutorial as well for my first topsy turvy cake next week. Am excited and terrified all in one go :)

Did you use wooden dowelling or plastic tubes for your support?

  • @NickyLess Thanks! I actually used bubble tea straws for support :)

  • muy bonito.

  • I love your cake! Love the colors and those flowers are precious. I too am attempting a topsy turvy cake and have watched Janell's tutorial several times. Anyway, I think you did an amazing job - I'm making an all white, 3-tier cake for a 30th birthday (white party theme) I'm hoping mine comes out as good as yours. Thanks for sharing!

  • what site did u say i can get the tutorial on ?

  • The Video is How to Make a Topsy Turvy Cake...its by janellscakes. It's 8:29 in time.

  • looks really good.

  • very pretty, very creative. :) I love how you made the flowers and how they came out.

  • Thank you :)

  • What kind of cake did you use to be able to shape without it crumbling? Was it pound or sponge?

  • This is just a box cake mix. I chilled it before shaping it.

  • Great job I tried to follow the tutorial for my daughter's birthday but was not successful. Thank God I had a plan B.

  • Very good! Did you make your cake from scratch? My box cake was to soft. Could not make a clean cut. Gave up

  • Thanks! I think this was a box cake. I now use the WASC recipe....so it's still a box in a sort. It helps to chill your cake before making your cuts.

  • Wow! Great cake! You did a great job!

  • Congratulations!!!

It's a wonderful piece of art.

  • Good job girl!...You should be proud!

    Edna :)

  • Cute, and yes Edna is great at what she does.... Good choice to use her as an inspiration. I actually bend a circle in the wire before adding a ball, flower etc to them so it wont slide off either way. Then hang upside down to dry.

  • Very pretty!

  • you did a great job....nice fondant....

  • wow very nice I like it can you tell me what number of wire you use?

    thanks

  • 20 gauge wire

  • Soooo pretty. There's a even slant to both.

    Good job.

  • this is fantastic for the first try! great job!

  • Very nice for your first one! What sizes were used and how many cakes per ties did you use? Nice job!

  • Thank you for the nice comment! Each tier has 3 layers of cake. The bottom tier is 2 9" pans and a 8" on the very bottom (less to carve). The top tier is 2 7" pans and a 6". Hope that didn't confuse you too much :) I got the tutorial from Janellscakes.

  • I aslo forgot to ask you about the wire, was thst just stuck into the cake with out anything at the end? Thanks...

  • all the wires from the topper spray goes into one straw in the center of the flower.

  • Wow! great job! :-)

  • beautiful!!

  • You made me want to turn 50 so I can have something like this. I love the colors used. It was executed really well.

  • Wow! Your first topsy turvy. You've inspired me to try...
