  • Did you say Idaho?

  • was hoping to see real coals instead of charcoal.

  • Nice video - I like the idea that you should test your gear, no matter what it is. Do you have any tips as to how to figure when you fire / coals are a good temperature for cooking in dutch oven?

  • Don’t forget only you can prevent Forest Fires.

  • A gas mask for a logo? Good luck eating your chicken and rice wearing that.

  • @DCFunBud I put the chicken and rice in my gas operated blender, and i am able to suck it through the drinking tube that is on the mask.....you gotta think outside the box man....

  • @delta69alpha BWAHAHAHA! Funny man...

  • hi from New Zealand. lovin the yankee accent haha. hey nice tips and great to see ya'll got the family out Camping

  • @chevyvictor LOL yankee...Thanks for watching !! d69

  • @chevyvictor : Ha! in the US "yankee accent" means from the Northeast, especially Maine, or possibly NY because of their baseball team.

  • Looks really good!!!!

  • Thanks fir sharing. Good idea for dinner.

  • this took only 30 minutes? doesn't seem right - I would've thought it would take several hours

  • thanks for showing the final product....wait a second, Is this ur first time? ;O

  • @scott80100 nope...not my 1st time. just keeping it simple for those that think D/O's are just for biscuts and soups ;p

  • dutch oven means something else too.

  • @ChainsmokingPothead YES and its disgusting! Its not really nice and rather offensive.

  • lol - gotta love those local oranges in Southern Idaho. Thanks for posting.

  • you cooked a whole 5lb chicken in 30 min?

  • coz the dutch invented it and its a oven

  • Why is it called a Dutch Oven?

  • I love your dutch oven videos.. you explain everything so very well! Thanks!

  • i would love to see someone cook a 15 -18 pound turkey in a dutch oven. I know it can be done. probably add some chicken stock to keep it moist at first and cook it all day at about 375! I bet thats some good eaten!

  • Only issue would be the oven size. Besides that it would be just as easy as the chickens are. Largest chunk of meat ive done has been about 5-6 lbs. 3-6 hours later and its falling apart. Stock or h20 would work on the bird,

  • @piketyl000 over where? idaho LOL. let me know when idaho has local grown citrus and palmetto's ;p i also dont smoke....

  • There is this guy who has an upload doing a Dutch Oven Turkey. He is (to me) hysterical too. If i can find the video I will attempt to send it, otherwise..he is tall and has like three parts to the series and he carries a gun on his side...I cracked up at him...not so much cause he meant to be funny either. By the way..if you have a number #12 or so Dutch Oven you can do 14-18 lbs. of meat (Turkey)...unless you want to quarter it or something like that. YUM

  • is that a palmetto in "southern idaho"??? boy, that stuff hanging from the trees looks like moss. hmmmm

  • we have made it clear in many of our movies that the "idaho" thing is a joke.

  • talk about local cooking!!

  • The best lasagna I have ever eaten was cooked in a dutch oven.

  • YUM! Looks great! Thanks!!

  • Traditionaly the last person going to sleep puts fresh

dough in the (cleaned) pot and sets it in the hot remaining ashes. In the morning you wake up to the smell of delicious fresh baked bread. It realy works like a dream.

  • Nice charcoal briskets.

  • Thanks they were on sale at wally mart!!!!

  • ban wal mart

  • your more correct then you know. Walmart gets more cocky with each dollar they make and one the competition is gone, they will get whatever prices they want!!

  • nice , you could even do that in your back yard. using those heat beads as they call them here.

  • That's the great thing about most prep items you can practice per say in your own back yard, or wait till you go family camping, like we did when we filmed this movie. This way everyone is involved in the meal making process!

  • hey "bob" been watching your vlogs for sometime now and they are helping me keep focused on preps for my family as well as our fallback location deep in the app. mountains. we are putting in our spring/summer garden and hope to get a large harvest, have good 'un, mountainman

  • Nice! Short. Simple. Tells it all!

Now I need to get our Dutch Oven out! We got the fire-pit dug in the back pasture....but haven't used the D.O. yet for some reason. Thanks for puttin up this one!

    Best Blessings!

    Donna

  • recipe dude! what kind of spices. never tried stuffing an orange in there.

  • SH, it is pretty simple. Simple is easy- remember that when family camping LOL.

    1x chicken 2-4 lbs

1x box of zatarans dirty rice

    1x lipton veggie soup/dip mix

1-2 teaspoons of spice called everglades seasoning

    1/4 cup of EVOO

normally i would shove the oranges and some butter between the skin and breast meat. But didn't want any dirty fingers to ruin my camp trip. But you can put oranges, apples, grapefruits, mango's in there.

Then you just cover and let cook. for 50 minutes.

    Bob

  • Oh I know :)

Just jealous you're out in the stick and we have several feet of snow.

  • hey that aint southeastern Idaho!!! Your snow isnt very white, cold or deep and you can go camping like that... in SE idaho!!

  • The Idaho remarks are a "joke" reason why i use "Bob in Idaho" and other members of PAW like RH from SR used "Dave in Idaho" . Sometimes we use the names and say the jokes other times we do not. Nothing negative about Idaho, just an off the wall joke from a year ago that stuck.

    Bob....in idaho ;p

  • We caught the joke. Not knowing what it all meant, it just seemed like FUN. I really like your off camera guy...Tayrone? Love the video's and the fun.

  • is Idaho good place for farming?

  • wow, not only is that field made it looks FU(#!N GREAT

  • looks yummy how did it taste since i cant have any :(

  • I know Idaho is known for there potatoes. Why didnt you throw some in there??

  • Idaho... never been there so i can't say it's not, but is it? b/c it looks like the south east

  • the idaho thing is a joke from our 1st few movies...it has just kinda stuck.

  • Good advice. Thx

  • Beef tips and rice are one of our favorites in a dutch oven! This looked good though, I may have to try it. Another great video.

  • I should have mentioned we also use jerked beef to do this also.

  • food look good

  • Idaho? Looks alot like Florida to me.

  • no no its southern idaho ;) the palmettos give that away!! lol

  • Truth be told you can make ANYTHING in a dutch oven. Deep dish pizza if your careful, cherry cobbler, cobblers you name it. Thing is most just do not have the PATIENCE to cook with one. Worth the wait though.

  • i can't wait to move to ID!

  • Looks Great....

    Made me hungry

  • looks yummy!!!

    good info and tips

    5*

  • You made me hungry enough to overcome my laziness and go cook some breakfast! That looks really good!

Wana come on my next camping trip?

TEST AND USE YOUR GEAR!!! Couldn't say it better!
