the Polarion has 5200 Lumen.

@dennisdeslager0 In all reality a very efficient 50W ceramic/quartz HID produces around 4500-5000 lumens at the bulb at around 80-90 lumen per watt. Factoring reflector and lens loss, the total output would be hanging around 4000 lumens or less, definitely not 5200 lumens. It is still a lot of light though.

Hi,

this is not right. The PH50 bulb produces about 10.000 Lumen at the first 20-30 Seconds and then it falls down to 5.200. You even can see this at one Test with a Luxmeter. If you compare the Light with other 35 Watt Hids with 3500 Lumen....you will think that the PH50 has minimal 6000 Lumen:-)

The 5.200 Lumen OTF are total realistic:-)

Polarion untouchable:-) but Olight a cheaper alternative if you want good light.

@Carlodimaximus I have seen an Olight from a collegue at work, and I was impressed. I'm sure that with one of these you won't be "Alone in the dark" for sure ;-) I have never seen a Polarion in real, but for me a good price is a plus, so if the Polarion is very expensive, and it's a thing that you may loose or theft like a cellular phone, then keep the balance price-function and get the Olight :)

@Carlodimaximus They are two different technology paths. Olight uses the brightest LED every-the SST90 while the Polarion uses a HID. LEDs give you instant on max brightness, shock resistance, variable output, 50 000hour life while a HID has to wait 20 seconds for max brightness, requires a ballast, isnt shock resistant, has a life of around 3000 hours "only" and has only one output. Not to mention the yesore amount of heat produced.

Das ist auch der Sinn der Sache, einen sehr engen Beam zu erzeugen. Ist halt ein thrower. Wurde ja als searchlight konzipiert.

Natürlich ist die Polarion besser. Aber das kann man ja wohl schlecht vergleichen, oder? EIne HID-Lampe für 1800 Euro mit einer LED-Lampe für ca. 300 Euro zu vergleichen ist ziemlich sinnfrei.

In dem Video dient der Vergleich ja nur um eine Referenz zu haben.

Wenn man nur die Hälfte der Lichtstärke bei der SR 90 zur Verfügung hat wie bei der PH50 muss man entweder Abstriche in der Leuchtweite oder in der Breite der Ausleuchtung machen.

Und so schwach ist der spill der SR90 ja nun nicht, das man ausserhalb des spots nichts sehen würde.

Das die Lampe auf throw ausgelegt wurde, nur um damit besser werben zu können halte ich für ein Gerücht. Bei LedLenser lass ich sowas als Argument durchgehen. Aber bei Olight eher nicht.

Scheint, dass Polarion kann eine consentrative lichtstrahl zu erreichen. An der breiten licht beam test, führen beide taschenlampen gut.

Ne PH 50 is übrigens immer noch ein Wunschtraum. Wenigstens mal n paar Stunden damit spielen dürfen :D
