The way that crack the skye leads into this is one of the single best experiences i've ever had. @TheUnforgiven676 I hope so too, but this is so heavy...so proggy...so incredibly deep and intricate that only a true fan would respect such a masterpiece. Any album dealing with czarist Russia, quadriplegic astronauts and wormholes that still manages to kick ass deserves extreme praise. This is that album. The hunter so far sounds unrefined and like a step back from Crack the Skye, but that's my opinion and I completely agree with and respect yours.

I'm just getting into Mastodon, and I'm blown away by this song. These guys are absolutely brilliant. It's like combining the best of Sabbath, Priest, Maiden, Rush, Metallica with the arrangement talents of Yes, King Crimson, and Kansas, then putting top-notch musicianship into the mix and coming out with the smartest Heavy Metal in a long, long time.

I'm seeing a lot of Mastodon's long time fans who aren't too happy with the new album, but I think it's a damn sight better than 99% of the "Rock" (term used loosely) being churned out today.

I remember when Between the Buried and Me mentioned they "outdid" their 5th studio masterpiece, "COLORS." I was so skeptical, i couldn't imagine anything they could do to match it. But to make a long story short, they did (in my opinion) with "The Great Misdirect." Well im saying this because im feeling the same skepticism with Mastodon and "The Hunter". If their new album tops Crack the Skye or EVEN MATCHS IT, i swear i might just be scared to listen to it. Some things in life are just too good

I love this song, seriously... It's been a long time since I've been in love with a piece of music, but now I'm in love with this very song.
