Here's what I think they should've done: Palpatine gives Anakin a red lightsaber after he becomes his apprentice, but Anakin decides not to use it yet, because he still has doubts of his actions. But when he fights Obi-Wan, he finally uses it, because with him thinking Obi-Wan turned Padme against him, he finally loses all feelings he has left for the jedi and fully turns sith. Then, as the tower falls down the lava fall, he loses it, and is forced to finish the fight with the blue lightsaber.

He did not! As he states in the comments, it took him three months to make this. Yes, BobGarcia1978 made his own version, and also edited the scene with Obi-wan and Anakin talk on the lava. Micahmatt made no such edit to the dialogue.
The Blu-Ray version will come out in September, so he can finally oblige us and create the HD version, but since that is another three months of labor. I can't imagine it being posted before December.
It would have been freaking cool if right at the beginning of the fight after Anakin ignited his blade, that is anger turned the blade red. Since it was his will and not the actual lightsaber doing it, it would have still fit in the plot line.

Funny, watching this again I noticed Obi wan is driven back the entire duel, yet he still wins. One lapse in judgement cost Anakin the entire duel, otherwise I think Obi wan might have lost.
@BlazeyHero That is Obi Wan's style. He is a defensive duelist. He guards until the other duelist makes a mistake and then Obi Wan attacks. Anakin's arrogance and impatience was going to be his downfall against someone like Obi Wan.

@BlazeyHero True Obi Wan probably would have lost. I have noticed in all of the duels - Episode I, II, III, and IV, Obi Wan is always on defense instead of offense. He isn't that great of a duelist because he is more of a thinker instead of impulsive and brash like his opponents. It served him well in all the duels and I think that he was prepared to lose against Anakin, but the lapse in judgement saved him ultimately.
Obiwan was on the offensive in Ep I and had not know Form III Soresu at the time. After Ep I he used Soresu. Hes actually a great duelist but Soresu requires lots of defense and drawing out combat. A great Duelist finds a way to win which Obiwan does aside from his battles with Count Dooku who was way out of his league.
@micahmatt Obi-Wan was on the defensive because his style of lightsaber combat is based around defense because he used to use Qui-Gon Gin's style but noticed all the flaws in his style which led to his death which prompted Obi-wan to develop a defensive style that picked it's spots to attack offensively versus and offensive style. Anakin's style is actually more offensive but in this particular duel, it was Obi-Wan's experience and calm, cool head that lead to his victory where Anakin was angry.
@micahmatt also has to do with his lightsaber form. Form III Soresu. It allows Obi-Wan to wait for his oppenent to make a critical mistake, and it truly fits his personality. Obi-Wan would probably rather disarm his foe than kill them unless it is absolutely necessary.
@micahmatt Except for Episode 1 in Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon Jinn vs Darth Maul. When Qui-Gon get's killed by Darth Maul, Obi-Wan get's mad and starts going offense because he really wanted to kill him.

Anakin fought too aggressively and in time with or without his high ground error would have been bested by Kenobi. This would work,if Palpitine gave him a red saber and put blue on his belt. Then akter Obi Wan cuts Anakin, he takes the Blue saber and the red gts burned and later at Corusant Vader calms after what happened to Padme and Palpatine gives him another Red Saber.
Lucas could have done this in a very easy way. He could've had Anakin leave he's blue lightsaber at the Jedi Temple after he destroyed everyone. Then he could've claimed the Red one from the Emperor. When Obi Wan and Yoda go to the temple Obi Wan would discover the saber and take it then. See it could've been done without disrupting the story line. Sad that he could not think of that. Oh well
It could have worked if Palpatine gave her a new one when he was given the title lord vader and obi-wan found his old one, it could have made a touching scene, throwing away his old wepon and having the red one to symbolys his betrayel to the jedi order yada yada, but i dont think it was worth the hassle just to have a different colour wepon for 10 mins but he does look more bad ass with it and would explain where he actually got the red one from
Anakin does look better with a red Lightsaber instead of blue and all. However, there used to be a video here on youtube with Obi-Wan with a red Lightsaber, Anakin with a blue, and to be on the honest side which I like better. What ever happened to that video?
red suits him right, but as wizard said luke is given his fathers saber and its blue, so this makes no sense and also red is generally the colour of the "evil ones" so to say and anakin doesnt see himself as evil by that time.

Lucas could have added a few extra scenes in order to make this fit into the movie i much prefered this to the original end fight and can remember how dissapointing it was to not see obiwan fighting Darth vader even though Anakin had previously ceased during the later half of the movie by accepting the mantel of Darth vader so hence he should have been showing the banner of the sith !
It would have been little work to add a few lines of speech between palpatine and anakin to give him some items

Lucas should have used this to show how crystals give the blade it's color. There could have been a scene showing Anakin swapping out his blue crystal for a red one.

I don't find it hard to believe that Palps had an extra red crystal handy for the moment he converted Anakin. It could be a very simple swap while he's in route to Mustafar. An extra couple seconds of Palpatine handing Vader something and saying words to the effect of "Take this. The symbol of the Sith." Afterward, Obi-Wan could have swapped it back.
in 2006 they released another edition of the original trilogy that contained both the new version and the theatrical version. The original version disc for episode 6 had a painting of luke and vader crossing lightsabers. But there was a mistake-Vader was holding a blue lightsaber and luke was holding a red one! XD
@Koldovader I think you're 100% right. But I think we get used to the dramatic performance so much to the point of wanting something different. In this case, maybe seeing a rendition of the battle by "Foe & Foe" instead of "Friend & Friend".
It's funny. So many people commenting here talk about how he should have red lightsaber because he is a sith, but then call him Anakin, which sort of contradicts itself when he's actually Darth Vader here xD
They should have made Vader change his lightsaber crystal colour to Red before this fight. But then of course they would have to find a complicated way to explain Luke getting his fathers BLUE lightsaber.

I've got 2 more ideas for saber different colour vids. First of all, wizardsofclay says that for this to work Luke would have to have a red blade in Episode 5 when he fights Vader. So how about re-editing that duel with a red blade?
The second one is ... Blue blades are traditionally for Jedi who prefer fighting. Green is for negotiation-preferers. Because of this, you could make "Ben Kenobi blue" forf the Ben.vs.Vaader duel in Episode 4. All I ask is that you say "special thanks to sinker861.
Lucas could've had Anakin drop the blue saber before the fight began as a way of showing that he has finally renounced both the Jedi and the name and person of Anakin Skywalker forever. Then, have him use Dooku's lightsaber to fight Obi-wan so that the saga's plot remains intact.
You see the sad thing is that a red blade in Anakin's saber (blue in Episode II and Episode III) would not fit the saga's plot. In Episode IV, Ben gives Luke Anakin's saber, in which is ignited to its blue blade. As much as I wished for Anakin to have a red blade without disrupting the saga's plot, it wouldn't be possible to fit it in if Lucas tried to redo it in a future special edition.

He should have had Palpatine present the newly appointed Darth Vader with a Sith uniform and a new Crimson Lightsaber in honor of his ascension to the Sith. it would have made the whole movie better. Then maybe have Anakin/Darth Vader take his old saber to Padme before he left for Mustafar then Padme could have given it to Obi-Wan latter.

@wizardsofclay Actually, it's not all that impossible. See, the color of a lightsaber is affected by a crystal located inside the hilt. This crystal may come in any color, and is usually accessible from the outside, so it's not like Anakin changed his lightsaber permanently. Hope this helps!
@wizardsofclay also because jedi make their sabres from a cave on a planet, which sith have no access to and thus have to make synthetic crystals, which makes the red color :)

I love this fight it's so personal and so agressive. They match each almost in every way mostly because Obi-wan trained Anakin, and because of his power he equaled Obi-wans experience. Great cinema.

@Roxaspwns360 Anyone can choreograph a fight scene.Which I love doing,but in an actual fight where you have no idea what your opponents next move is gonna be and how to counter it with in a split second is a different story.So the way he spins his saber and flips and jumps and everything,with the exception of the exaggerated length of the jump,is all learned in martial arts training.Evade, Offense, Defense, and a little Style to it all. I doubt by the way you are talking you can fight like that.
@neo942007 It is true that it requires a mass load of training. And a martial arts requirement too. What I mean't was, is that I can manuever as Ewan and Hayden in this battle with a sword, not anything else. But you are correct 100% though on everything else mind.

It's funny if you look at the part where Anankin has Obi-wan in a choke, focus on Obi-wan's hand and look at who's lightsaber he's holding. At first it's his then it's Anakins. movie mess up or just an easter egg?

Lucas could have done this in a very easy way. He could've had Anakin leave he's blue lightsaber at the Jedi Temple after he destroyed everyone. Then he could've claimed the Red one from the Emperor. When Obi Wan and Yoda go to the temple Obi Wan would discover the saber and take it then. See it could've been done without disrupting the story line. Sad that he could not think of that. Oh well

I wish a lightsaber would be the color depending upon whether a sith or jedi held it - that'd be COOL!
ex. when anakin starts fighting obi-wan, it could "fade" to red - then when luke holds i, it's back to blue because he's on the good side :)

It could have worked if Palpatine gave her a new one when he was given the title lord vader and obi-wan found his old one, it could have made a touching scene, throwing away his old wepon and having the red one to symbolys his betrayel to the jedi order yada yada, but i dont think it was worth the hassle just to have a different colour wepon for 10 mins but he does look more bad ass with it and would explain where he actually got the red one from

Anakin does look better with a red Lightsaber instead of blue and all. However, there used to be a video here on youtube with Obi-Wan with a red Lightsaber, Anakin with a blue, and to be on the honest side which I like better. What ever happened to that video?

red suits him right, but as wizard said luke is given his fathers saber and its blue, so this makes no sense and also red is generally the colour of the "evil ones" so to say and anakin doesnt see himself as evil by that time.

Actually, at 1:17, Obi-Wan is holding Anakins saber. Lucas said it was a cut out scene where Obi has gotten a hold of both sabers.

Lucas could have added a few extra scenes in order to make this fit into the movie i much prefered this to the original end fight and can remember how dissapointing it was to not see obiwan fighting Darth vader even though Anakin had previously ceased during the later half of the movie by accepting the mantel of Darth vader so hence he should have been showing the banner of the sith !
It would have been little work to add a few lines of speech between palpatine and anakin to give him some items

@SamLee500 and @stripes5150 After the duel Obi-Wan picks up Anakin Sword, which he gives his next padawan Luke, so it can't be a red one because Luke is Not a Sith. Now you see it was not a error in reasoning of George Lucas.

I don't find it hard to believe that Palps had an extra red crystal handy for the moment he converted Anakin. It could be a very simple swap while he's in route to Mustafar. An extra couple seconds of Palpatine handing Vader something and saying words to the effect of "Take this. The symbol of the Sith." Afterward, Obi-Wan could have swapped it back.

in 2006 they released another edition of the original trilogy that contained both the new version and the theatrical version. The original version disc for episode 6 had a painting of luke and vader crossing lightsabers. But there was a mistake-Vader was holding a blue lightsaber and luke was holding a red one! XD

In my opinion, the "blue vs blue" fight is the best choice by far.
The fight is much more dramatic watching two lightsabers that should never strike each other...

@Koldovader I think you're 100% right. But I think we get used to the dramatic performance so much to the point of wanting something different. In this case, maybe seeing a rendition of the battle by "Foe & Foe" instead of "Friend & Friend".

I've got 2 more ideas for saber different colour vids. First of all, wizardsofclay says that for this to work Luke would have to have a red blade in Episode 5 when he fights Vader. So how about re-editing that duel with a red blade?
The second one is ... Blue blades are traditionally for Jedi who prefer fighting. Green is for negotiation-preferers. Because of this, you could make "Ben Kenobi blue" forf the Ben.vs.Vaader duel in Episode 4. All I ask is that you say "special thanks to sinker861.

Lucas could've had Anakin drop the blue saber before the fight began as a way of showing that he has finally renounced both the Jedi and the name and person of Anakin Skywalker forever. Then, have him use Dooku's lightsaber to fight Obi-wan so that the saga's plot remains intact.

You see the sad thing is that a red blade in Anakin's saber (blue in Episode II and Episode III) would not fit the saga's plot. In Episode IV, Ben gives Luke Anakin's saber, in which is ignited to its blue blade. As much as I wished for Anakin to have a red blade without disrupting the saga's plot, it wouldn't be possible to fit it in if Lucas tried to redo it in a future special edition.

He should have had Palpatine present the newly appointed Darth Vader with a Sith uniform and a new Crimson Lightsaber in honor of his ascension to the Sith. it would have made the whole movie better. Then maybe have Anakin/Darth Vader take his old saber to Padme before he left for Mustafar then Padme could have given it to Obi-Wan latter.

@wizardsofclay Actually, it's not all that impossible. See, the color of a lightsaber is affected by a crystal located inside the hilt. This crystal may come in any color, and is usually accessible from the outside, so it's not like Anakin changed his lightsaber permanently. Hope this helps!

I love this fight it's so personal and so agressive. They match each almost in every way mostly because Obi-wan trained Anakin, and because of his power he equaled Obi-wans experience. Great cinema.

@Roxaspwns360 Anyone can choreograph a fight scene.Which I love doing,but in an actual fight where you have no idea what your opponents next move is gonna be and how to counter it with in a split second is a different story.So the way he spins his saber and flips and jumps and everything,with the exception of the exaggerated length of the jump,is all learned in martial arts training.Evade, Offense, Defense, and a little Style to it all. I doubt by the way you are talking you can fight like that.
