P1mp1n1984 - english is a germanic language, closest relative is frisian or old saxon- actually surprisingly little french imput. Besides which the french that did make it across was norman french which bears little relation to modern french.

In all fairness....both the Germans (not the people really, the nazi regime and it's supporters) and the Russians were both terribly misguided civilizations at that time. The U.S. had to put up with the craziness of the Soviets for 40 years after WW2.

@bristolcityifcation My father fought in the 2nd world war, he was on the north Atlantic convoys, and I am extremely proud of what he and his generation did, but I think he and your grand father would be wondering what they fought for, seeing what is happening today in our once great country.
Germans today cannot be blamed for what happened in the nineteen thirties and forties, and who can say what we would have done given the same circumstances.
