  • Go boy! I got chills going down my spine!

  • Ik heb weer genoten van je sound en je muzikaliteit! Thanx for the music my man!

  • Very Nice man, I like Your Style and all. I Wish i had a bassguitar and talent for that :/

You must Check the Soundtrack of "interstate 76". That's IMO the best Funk Soundtrack and very good for a Bass-Play !

  • @StrictlyBG !!

  • Outstanding. One of the best groups of all time, this individual track and whole album right up there with the best of them and you have totally nailed it. Respect !!

  • I agree too, a highly underated LP. Thanks for posting this video.

  • Thanx and yes... one of my fav Pleasure albums. Every songs has a killer bass line, even the ballads. Great musicians and great music.

    Thanx for watching and commenting!

    Peace

  • Man, I'm getting ready to go to work now..This is a very special song to me and you nailed it perfectly. I always thought that the bass lines in this album were the bomb.. Thanks for real

    ~Reuben

  • Hi Reuben, I absolutely agree with you! This album is DA BOMB! Not only the bass lines but all the songs are awesome. One of my all time fav's.

    Thanx for commenting my man.

    Peace

  • Man I was going through basic training when this one came out. One of my favorite jamz ever & you do it justice Bro - peace

  • Thank you so much for commenting and watching my clip. I really LOVE this song... it's so hard to play since it's a slapping balad while you can't overdo. Nathaniel Philips is a master in these slapping lines. All credits to him!

    Peace and again thanx!

  • i love this way to play ballad ok now i got to transcrib it;P

  • :-) Yes that's what I love about this song as well. Still a ballad but with subtle a slap bass... that is so cool.

    Peace

  • Thank you so much for commenting! On my info page there is some stuff on where to start on how to learn how to play these awesome bass lines.

Peace and keep on playin' OK?

  • Man, I'm gonna have to subscribe to your channel. It seems like every time I'm browsing some jams I find a related video of you playing bass on the same song...LOL. The music of the 70's thru early 80's were prime time for bassists so it's no wonder you love all the old school. Keep on pluckin' my friend!

  • Hey there my friend, you are so right about the 70's/80's. There were sooo many great bands out there that influenced my whole entire life. With these clips I try to honor them as best as I can. That's the whole purpose of doing these clips on YouTube to bring that great music to the attention that they deserve.

Peace and again thanx for commenting!

  • nice playin.

  • Thank you so much for commenting.

    Peace

  • larry of sly and the family stone can slap through a ballad, Philips is equaly as talented.

  • Yeah man, you got that right. Larry Graham, Louis Johnson, Bernard Edwards and Nathaniel Philips are masters in subtle slapping. They can play either very powerful or very subtle. The more subtle the harder it is though...

    Thanx again for commenting!

  • Good chops funkstar! I`ve always enjoyed Pleasure. Used to play Bass myself ways back! Not as well as you!

  • I am sure you did just fine bigcree. Hope to inspire you enough to pick up the bass again! Why not? :-)

    Peace

  • Yeah! I Pow-Wow now! Still dig these good tunz though! Alright. Stay cool funkstar!

  • Yo my friend, thanx for getting back at me. And thanx for taking the time to comment. Glad to hear you enjoy my clips and especially the Pleasure songs. One of my fav bands ever!!

    Peace

  • YEAH! B-A-D. I will send you a Clip of me singing at a Native Pow-Wow on Hand Drum with my Wife and Nephew in Cool Nor Cal. Pleasure definitely belongs in the Jazz/R&B Hall of Fame. Good Jammin Guy!

  • i wish just one youtube would bassist would take the time to explain to the aspiring youtubist how to hook up and connect the webcams and music and bass so we can do our thang too. that's real, mack.

  • Hey dayesonny, take a look at my profile page on YouTube. I am trying to explain how I record these clips. Maybe that will help a bit.

Peace and thanx for asking and commenting.

  • Hold it down Star! FUNKY!

  • Doing my best here Hernsa! Thanx for commenting and for watching my vids!

    Peace

  • Dis wat Im talkn bout funkstar...My id says grownnbass but Im only 20 and as I told you b4 I love Pleasure...lol...This is ALL FUNKED UP!!!

  • yeah thanx, I know what you mean with loving Pleasure, sounding 'simple' but oh so beautifully arranged and hard to play. Not many bassplayers dare to slap through a balad. Nathaniel Philips does... incredible. Have you seen my other Pleasure vids?

    Peace

  • how long have u been playin'?

  • THANX.........BIG TIME.........

  • More than welcome my brotha, glad you appreciate it.

    Peace

  • From the video, it's obvious you put your heart and soul into playing this wonderful early '80s tune. Keep up the excellent work!!

  • Hey Jamiebug, sorry for the late reaction but you are SO right about this one. Playin' isn't all about speed and licks. This tune shows that slow playing can be even harder then the speedy thumb stuff. You really have to get into it to keep it steady and going without over doing! All credits to the original player of this song: Nathaniel Phillips! One of my all time fav's!

    Peace

  • Very well done. I like how you switch between thumb and fingers without the dynamics of the song changing.

  • That's right Starrchild65, that's one of the hard things in this song. Slow slapping without too much power while keeping that groove going through those beautiful chords... glad that you are able to hear that. Appreciate it.

    Peace
