1. im many(not all) average class or poor families the parents don't motivate their child to make exceptional grades and me the best person they can be, they motivate them to be average just like them.

2. it costs a rediculous amount of money to go to any ivy league school, and lots of times it is best just to spent some money on a good college than be in debt for the next 20 years and go to an exceptional college.

Yeah, Yale supposedly is this elite institution and "the best" in the U.S. (and perhaps the world), but it's so small and has like 10,000 or only 5,000 students. Is there really much to do on campus in your free time? Of course, I guess they figure with all the stupid-ass extra work and papers and shit you'll be doing for class, you won't have much free time to worry about.

This is kinda why I'm glad I went to Mizzou. Yeah, it's not the most prestigious, but there's still shit to do.

@whoo689 And the classes weren't too bad. I actually applied for a few Ivy League elite schools during my senior year of HS (but was rejected). I got this stupid Lutheran small-ass school called Capital University in Columbus, OH, but then I realized I had to transfer. Transferred to Mizzou. Besides, who wants to drive all the way back and forth after the school year is over or before the school year begins to CT? I mean, if you LIVE near the Northeast, that's fine, but I live in MO.

And then I realized I probably would hate it at Yale or some other Ivy League place cuz it's like, what's the point of doing a bunch of papers and projects for professors for some 'good grade'? To get some undeserved sense of accomplishment and pretend like you're better than everyone else cuz "I go to the most selective institution in the country"? Do you even get to speak out or debate or communicate with professors during class much? Is it really all it's cracked up to be?

Second, I'm not sure if it's harder to get accepted if you're from abroad, but if you're a top student with nearly perfect SAT's and EC's, then you should have a shot.
