@supersteovleeds Just curious, are these soldiers in their dress uniforms or are these uniforms specific to guarding the royal areas. I'm in the United States Army and the only area I'm aware of that we have guards on sight in Class A's would be The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Other guards would be the Marines that guard the President. Both Army and Marines wear their standard dress uniforms. I'm a huge fan of the red dress uniform, such a symbolic image of the U.K., wives must love it.
@af1iRockNIKES A lot of people don't realise this but there are actualy a number of different regiments that take on this duty as they are also active soldiers. so when one regiment is in afghan then another one takes over. they also have slightly different uniforms! and in answer to your question, this uniform (as well as the winter coats) are only found around the royal areas!

He told me he got to "chat" with a few female British medics. If I ever get a chance to visit the U.K. I definitely like to see the Royal Guards. The people everyone on these guard video's who everyone is saying lacks respect are civilians. They do not understand the solemnity of the ceremony. These are palace guards. I could understand lack of respect at war dead memorials and so forth but these people are civilians. As far as the anti American sentiment goes... Why do they use what. The guards? They're not decoration. All guards at St. James, Buckingham, Windsor and the Tower of London (as well as other places) are serving soldiers (in a guards regiments : Coldstream, Grenadier, Scots, Irish and Welsh) with the British Army. The weapon you see is live (loaded and ready) and is the standard British army rifle.
The tower is still a royal palace and so it is the Army's obligation to guard it.

Other guards would be the Marines that guard the President. Both Army and Marines wear their standard dress uniforms. I'm a huge fan of the red dress uniform, such a symbolic image of the U.K., wives must love it.

@af1iRockNIKES A lot of people don't realise this but there are actualy a number of different regiments that take on this duty as they are also active soldiers. so when one regiment is in afghan then another one takes over. they also have slightly different uniforms! and in answer to your question, this uniform (as well as the winter coats) are only found around the royal areas!

He told me he got to "chat" with a few female British medics. If I ever get a chance to visit the U.K. I definitely like to see the Royal Guards. As an American I really respect the British, Scots and Irish. I'm also terrified of Gordon Ramsay lol. Again, thank you and I hope I get the chance to work with you guys overseas.

The people everyone on these guard video's who everyone is saying lacks respect are civilians. They do not understand the solemnity of the ceremony. These are palace guards. I could understand lack of respect at war dead memorials and so forth but these people are civilians. As far as the anti American sentiment goes... America owes alot to other countries for their help and contribution to our country. On the other hand. Many other countries better understand they owe us a great deal also

I was just saying there are guard changes and regiments that are more strict and scrutinised in their movements than these guards here on this particular day at this particular post.
And the guards that guard the royal family are real guards doing real military duties, they're not just guarding historical monuments for tradition like the post above.

Why do they use what. The guards? They're not decoration. All guards at St. James, Buckingham, Windsor and the Tower of London (as well as other places) are serving soldiers (in a guards regiments : Coldstream, Grenadier, Scots, Irish and Welsh) with the British Army. The weapon you see is live (loaded and ready) and is the standard British army rifle.
The tower is still a royal palace and so it is the Army's obligation to guard it.
