  • Does anyone have tabs, chordsor a sheet for this? I would really appreciate it

  • Who would have thought they would have done a song like this....so cool, baby....!!!!

  • incredible bass lines in this song!!!

  • Still play it a lot...keeps me young LOL

  • cool...

  • I saw IB at the Grande Ballroom when they debuted this song...

  • 60´s forever!!!

  • Great song...Legendary band : )

  • Yeeh experience..

  • Ok this is my favorite song by them if you don't count In-A-gadda-da-vida. Thanks for posting this.

  • This is my favorite Iron Butterfly song.

  • Love Lee Dorman's distinctive bass playing. I live in San Diego, and about 10-15 years ago wastold that Doug Ingle live in Lakeside, about 12 miles from me!

  • Takes me back to my youth! What a great band. Remember seeing them at a place called "The Image" Sunny Isles, North Miami Beach. Fir on stage! Excellent.

  • dude sorry a bout that i had led zep playing on media player while i played that and i thought u did that so no worries

    good times

  • het u stupid tit dont discrase led zep by doing that stupid shit to their songs

  • hey white rabbit, is this not great music, one of the best things i done in my life was to get rid of my ex girlfriend who likes shitty dance music , good riddance, deexxyy, the canadian kid who looks like alice cooper yeah, take care rabbit.

  • man, iremember buying this record in 1968, was 11, great stuff, better than my ex girlfriends shitty, dance music, she liked madonna, hey man i like butterfly, doors, psychedelic, music she can stick her dance music up her ass man.

  • @deexxyy YES!!!!!!!

  • i love the fusion of psychedelic with the first ever heavy metal sound that iron butterfly practically created, i couldn't ask for anything better. it beats anything we got today! lol

  • I totally agree with you. This was my first album ever purchased. It said HIFI on it not sterro. Love the whole album!!!!!!!!!!

  • thanks! i'm glad SOMEONE agrees with me, people just dont know good music anymore its all about being popular and making money, the experience and the passion for the amazing wonder of music they're creating has no place in today's music. even all this indie stuff they're all like "i'm challenging the norm" yeah by letting them tell you what not to be in turn you conform by doing exactly that. no one has any original thoughts its fit in or do the opposite, either way theyre telling u what to do.

  • My favorite hippie song.

  • A happy, cheery little song that may sound pretty dated today, but still beats anything on I've heard on the charts lately!

  • this is a great exaple of how musics ment 2 be

  • What a great song. They were one of the bands out there!

  • it sounds like an combination of bob marley and pink floyd

  • mmm i can say, between the doors and deep purple

  • FLY2204 - hmm..yes i think it ratehr sound like something between the Doors and Deep Purple rather then Pink Floyd and Bob Marley

  • Yeah I remember this at my sisters party in Surry Hills Sydney circa '72

  • This song sounds like a song that could have been written and performed by the Turtles.

  • i like tis song makes me feel old though i remember when it was new

  • Cool video. My favorite short track by Iron Butterfly was Unconscious Power off the Heavy Album. Off of this album I really liked "Termination". By the way, Iron Butterfly was before my time but I always thought they had a good sound. You don't have to be a baby boomer to enjoy 60's rock. I made a primitive video for Unconscious Power.

  • I was living in Deal, Kent, England and this otherwise innocuous neighbor, on learning I knew Doug, Ron, Lee, and Eric commented: "You mean the guys who played that In-a-gadda-da-shithouse?" I laughed, as I thought it was rather good description of an unending, crumb of a song.

  • i love this song....it makes me so happy

  • god so much time has past.thanx for posting!

  • A rare lost gem of a tune. As a musician I've always admired this talented band. The bass line in this song, by Lee Dorman, is brilliant. Man music used to be so awesome back in the day. What happened?

  • Hey enazwo: you got old that's what happened,

like every other boomer who is over-rating his own time and having closed ears and mind today.

  • I have closed ears and mind? You're funny. Well I'm glad you don't over-rate your "own time", and especially your opinion. Must be nice you're not getting old. And is there really anything wrong with admiring a piece of music whether it's old or new? You don't know anything about me, but thanks for denigrating my innocuous comment, we can all learn so much from you, and your open ears and mind.

  • Forgive my tone and comment-it was just a reaction to the usual vitriol and stereotypical "commentary" spewed by people who've become their parents: ie: pining for the "good old days", everything was better when I was young, blah blah blah" and don't see the irony (and sadness) in that. You can like whatever you want from any time but, as one of the heroes of a million years ago once said to the oldsters in his day "...don't criticize what you can't understand". It's come full circle!

  • "Forgive my tone and comment"

Understand; You're a Gentleman and Scholar

  • @enazwo Lady Gaga happened.

  • What a voice, just listen that voice, the man is a bass.

  • Muy muy buena musica... es una catedra para muchos...

  • probably the best band name ever

  • When I first got the "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida" album long ago, I was surprised to find all the songs on side 1 were really great, too. My favorite on side 1 is "Are You Happy", almost a miniature 'In-A-Gadda...'...this song is pretty cool, too.

  • Had it on 8-track - would put it on and listen all night long, over, and over, and over again. Ah, the good ol' days!

  • I just played "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida the other day (on LP, that is...old 8-tracks have a way of falling apart as they age...the tape loop separates at the stuck-on track-change mechanism...the Butterfly's next album, "Ball" is pretty doggone good, too (although it doesn't have any side-long tracks).

  • Excellent Song

  • great song!!

  • Comment removed

  • LOL, my mom turned me on to this when I was 8 years old, driving around in a 69 Jaguar XKE! The end is cool!

  • magnificos sonidos, regresa uno a una epoca genial

    gran cancion

  • *..you're all I talk about,in everything I'm saying...* madly romantic!!!

  • son magnificos, eso si era musica, y no los tecnobodrios que tenemos que escuchar, en la disco.

  • this song remind me of a very special girl i think that the best songs are those who makes you remind or even imagine and feel that you are in some place that is or was very special for you very good lyrics and the music arrengement is good

  • one of the best love songs ever - from one of the best albums ever

  • You know it man..this is and was one of the best F---- albums of all time..the trash that is made these days cant even compare

  • Great album, and I agree a lot of music today is crap and it was better back in the day, but you can't generalise that much! There's still a lot of good stuff around these days.

  • One of my favs!

    So nice and unique...

  • Nice to see these posts here. I thought I was the only one who appreciated this stuff. My first hand-me-down records were the first 3 IB albums. Great memories. Thanks to all who posted these! This was the start of AOR for me.

  • I dont know what it is that I like about this guy's vocals (whats the vocal/keyboardist's name?), but they sound really good.

    Ron Bushy's great too.

    Iron Butterfly rocks

  • Doug Ingle. Grew up in church playing the organ, thus the influence of it in IB's music.

  • This song was an answer to `So Happy Together´ by the Turtles. Best band ever!

  • major influence in the 60's-played at my sock hop in 68.

  • this record is NEVER far from reach. The greatest record that not many know about today.

  • think this was my fav from that album..still love it..

  • That's if you have a girl that loves you... some guys don't. It is a tough world when you lose that one true love.

  • I love them. Flowers and beads is sweet song =).

  • Oh those partys my sister had at 129 Arthur St circa 1974...heaps of Iron Butterfly, hooch, booze, incense, so many memories ...cant beat it!!!xxx

  • I enjoy the photos in this video.

  • Erik replaced Danny Weis who was technically better, but didn't have Erik's attack or style. Erik was the best for the bant out of all the guitarists that passed through. His website is erikbraunn dot net

  • Gawd, I miss that band and those times!! One of my favorites. Thanks!!

  • Is this band like a lot of others ... the rise and fall of lead guitarists ... I believe this one is Erik Brann who replaced a really good guitarist whose name I can't remember, but was better than Erik, and then Erik got replaced by professionals ... the kiss of death to the grunge that was IB .

  • Side A Flower power Psych goodie of the In a gadda da vida Lp!

  • Brilliant for me better than In A Gadda DA vida!!!

  • Thanks for giving away the store. Now I don't have to buy it. That'll last me for another 35 years.

  • Did I ever tell youaboutthe time Iblundered into a IB show with my 14 year old brother and my marcia brady girlfriend thinkingitwas going to be like ed sullivan ? Every reprobate in 5 states must have been there !

  • Haven't heard this in about 35 years! HA!

  • inna godda da vida is better but this song is good

  • Nice collage. I wonder if I'm the only person who'd like to see a video clip of "My Mirage," the 2nd trippiest song from the I-A-G-D-V album.

  • My favorite song on the flip side of the Vida album was "Are You Happy?"

  • No disrespect, 'cuz I love the Butterfly, but this is totally Spinal Tap "listen to the flower people"... "flowers and beads are one thing/but loving you girl THAT'S SOMETHING". This is fave IB song after In-A-Gadda...

  • This type of gentle, loving lyric was typical for the time period. Today it's "oh poor me. I'm a rich rock star and I'm so miserable."

  • Man I am so sorry to hear that Eric is dead...I met him in Toronto many years abo, along with Ron Bushy - the roadies called him: "Bush". I'd love to hear about them after they made:"Ball"...what happened?

  • i didnt know eric had died,i saw them in a a small ballroom in huntsville alabama years ago,was a highpoint in my life, not alot of us left that like this stuff

  • Gut das.

  • I used to party with these guys in the early 70's. Their studio was in Northridge, Calif. I jammed with them many times on Ron's drums, and partied at Doug's house in Old Topanga Cyn.

  • my favorite song!! my screename. hahahaha. This song will never die!!!

  • oh i love this song! i have the original record from '68 or '69 on my dresser. i love iron butterfly. wonder where i got my screename huh??

  • the lead singer got like abducted or csi too k him away he didnt die in the deserts sorry bro

  • wait didnt doug get abducted by aliens or the c.s.i. took him awy

  • Ingle simply quit the band and moved on. Lee Dorman, the bassist, was, after quitting, replaced by a man named Philip Kramer. Kramer famously disappeared into the desert. His bones were found in 1999. Eric Braunn, original guitarist, died in 2002 of liver failure. Ron Bushy, percussionist, appears to be the driving force of the current incarnation. Bushy and Lee Dorman have since hired replacements for touring purposes. Ingle was the front man in its heyday...I believe.

  • Eric Braunn was not the original guitarist.

The In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida album was their second.

Their first album was called "Heavy", it featured original guitarist and vocalist Darryl DeLoach.

I read that Erik Braunn died of cardiac arrest

  • Well, there you have it. R.I.P., Braunn!

  • Erik died of a heart attack...not liver failure.... The Butterfly still perform with Bushy & Dorman, and on occasion, Doug Ingle will show up and perform with them

  • Very classic 60's music -w/o the hard core political element

  • A good friend of mine toured as their bass player in the 90s before Doug Ingle mysteriously vanished.

  • Thanks. My camp summer camp councelor used to play this side to get us to go to sleep. I wouldn't sleep till album (remember those?) was over. The guy who died was a replacement drummer i think. Are those old men IB now days?

  • nice

  • My favorite song on the flip side of the LP. Gosh those were the days huh! Flowers and beads yea!

  • What instrument did the guy who disappeared play?

  • If you're talking about Doug Ingle, keyboard and vocals.

  • Ingle was the guy who left home and has never been seen since? He was to have been working on some inovative project, highly secretive....So....

  • Doug is the singer.

    I saw him today.

I had him sign a shirt...

  • Serious?

  • What does Doug do for a living?

Does Doug gets some royalties since he wrote most of the songs from In-A-Gadda-da-Vida

  • You're thinking of Phil Kramer, who was the bass player in the '70s version of IB. He left home and disappeared in 1995. He called police from his cell phone and allegedly told them that he knew who the real killer of Nicole Brown Simpson was -and it wasn't OJ. They ruled his death a suicide and his remains were found in an old beat up van in Decker Canyon, CA. in May of '99. A TV show like 20/20 did a story on the incident. I believe Oprah Winfrey herself, did a story on his disappearance.

  • I appreciate the help, but I am confused about your story. The last I heard was that Kramer was stilling as of a few years ago. That would make the 1999 allegation untrue.

  • The guy who disappeared was Phil Kramer who replaced the bass player Lee Dorman in 1974 when Iron Butterfly reunited briefly

  • The Iron Butterfly was the best ever ! where are they now ?

  • Great video and great song! Wish the photos were clearer tho! Still great! Thanks

  • Nice collage. Some photos I have never seen before. Is that the new Butterfly? Grampa looks good and is having fun is his old age!
