  • They're probably on their way back to the nick before the canteen closes.

  • @jakwalker96 Yeah, you're allowed to film anything in public, except for if it could be used for terrorism. It's a very vague term but you can still take photos of police cars and most officers.

  • @jakwalker96 yeah we are...

  • This is an area car. All Met traffic cars have the battern-burg square livery, all other cars have the traditional striped livery (like this one). The reason it is an estate and has cones etc, is because this car is based on the outskirts of East London; Romford. Cars based in such areas, with faster roads (in this case the A13, A12) have the option of being upgraded to 'fast road area cars', where they are fitted with basic equipment for RTAs.

  • I saw a marked BMW 5 series saloon 2009 or 2010 registration a few days ago where I live.

The car came up to a mini island not far from where I live and I was at the petrol station getting some petrol. I am not sure if it was a 330 diesel, 330 petrol or even a 335 petrol if you can get the 5 series saloon with a 3.5 litre engine.

It had a narrow light bar and what looked like a rear facing camera that was mounted on a short pole but was higher than the light bar.

  • white van not giving way!

  • @policeblue999

Agreed, why people dont have respect is far beyond my knowledge!

  • @SierraOscar1GoldDale its not ur wrong

  • @SierraOscar1GoldDale it is an area car

  • traffic car

  • can i just say its not an RPU its an area car nice video

  • Is it just me or was the siren not very loud, since you couldn't hear it behind the van. Seems ineffective if they have to be right behind you in order for you to hear it [IMO the point of a siren is so people can hear you and pull over BEFORE you get to them].

  • The sirens today arent effective enough because new cars are so isolated for outside sounds. You can hardly hear the sirens until the siren is almost beside you. Its even worse if you have radio in high volume. Thats the reason why some police cars are equipped with a siren which gives vibrating very low level sound.

  • very true, till those "rumblers" are in common use, guess everyone will just have to be more observant of flashing lights behind them, rather than relying on hearing it come [though that can be difficult with all the unmarked emergency vehicles out there.]

  • I cant remember if i've commented so if not FANTASTIC VIDEO!

As usual rated 5* and Favourited!

  • I remember watching this video before I came onto YouTube and it was my favourite! Excellent video for then and now mate!

  • Yankie 5 ;)

  • How thik is the guy in the van the cars right up his arse!

hay GREAT vid all the same 5* to you!

  • yer typicall white van man nobody behind but still doesnt pull over

  • nice one

  • Is that coming into Romford / Gallows corner?

  • Yep, Petits lane.

  • @policeblue999 Enjoyed this spontaneous drive past by the Met policeblue999! Given the science as attached to the 'Claxon' and 'Yelp' acoustics on this carriageway (North Circular Road?) policeblue999, did you hear this Met vehicle from some distance off (you clearly had sufficient time to bring to bare your camera-excellent footage by the way) and was it the flashing lights or the claxons that gave you the 'heads up' at first so to speak? Appreciate the vid policeblue999. Best wishes. Ebs.

  • @Ebsteins31653 Thank you. In the car I have my own rear-view mirror, and it was the lights that I noticed first (as the road is quite straight). I'm glad you enjoy the footage.

    Josh.

  • I heard there one lambo based in central...and a few 5 series saloons and estates...Ive seen a few astras and black vectras..Ive been pulled in a normal astra wiv no sirens by suits...and ive seen a few black vectras...Ive seen like 20 red variants in sherpeds bush..I think someone must ave gotshot..Literally 20 red police cars showed up..I thought they were all armed feds.

In germany i saw loads of BMWs and Mercs being used....Coupes are no good only for high speed chases

  • Great video, and I can confirm Josh is right on this one. A number of the boroughs in outer London have these estates with basic traffic equipment in for dealing with road accidents, most I've seen have been in north east London and around Ealing and Acton.

  • Its an area car. Looks like the A12 (Havering Borough). They, like many of the outer boroughs have 'fast road' equipped area cars - normally 5 series estates. They get all the kit to deal with RTAs on fast roads (any road with a speed limit about 40mph). All traffic cars now have the battenburg livery and a strobe bar - that's how you tell them apart.

  • Naa area cars are 5 series but just saloon these i think are traffic

  • trust me - I drive that car for a living!! All traffic cars now have battenburg livery and the bar light strobes

  • its got all typical traffic gear in it, are you a copper?

  • Yes - and I wear a black hat and not a white one!

  • ok then, I wont question u. Its just the area cars im used to seeing are BMW 5 series saloons.

  • Yes, you're right - most area cars are 5 series saloons and after a short spell with vectra's we are now going over to 325s. However, many of the outer borough have 'fast road equipped' area cars. They are 5 series estates carrying some of the kit that traffic cars have - cones, lights, brush etc. This is because they cover many A roads. This particular car is from Havering Borough - they have some of the A12 and A127

  • Hey Josh, i see you work in the force, do you work for the Met.

  • Yes, currently attached to the diplomatic protection group

  • Oh right, nice, my dad live like 1 minute from the Chadwell Heath operations HQ/Traffic garage base! i really want to go there with my camera! all those pretty cars!

  • grrr i hate it when people dont get out of the way!! brilliant video!

  • yeah, very frustrating!!

  • no its a 5 series

  • yeah deffinatly a 5 series, 3 series are smaller.

  • Fantastic video m8, and perfectly filmed :D. A really good jon :P

    Chris

  • Job* -- :P

  • Thank You Chris!!!!!! :D

  • When the police tried to catch someone, and drived fast, we was faster than police! In germany:D! With BMW 525i e34, Police car was MB E230 CDi, (i think;/)

  • To confirm, this is one of the MPS's traffic division vehicles. It is unusual to see a new-shape 5-series BMW with the old style rotator/strobe lightbar combo (as used on the Amed Response Vehicles). You can also see the road cones, etc in the rear of teh vehicle. If it was an armed vehicle, these officers would also be wearing blue shirts just for your info...

    Regards

  • Aah, ok!! thanks!!

  • no its not def a traffic one, they are used as area cars as well, i know hillingdon and ealing have them

  • Trust me mate, it is. The vehicle has all of the traffic equipment in the rear - the road cones and blue road lights. If it was an area car, it would not have this equipment in the rear. And about XB and XH having them, I doubt that they are used for area car duties. Transport Services garage - in an undisclosed location - would be seriously wasting the cash in using these vehicles as an area car. You probably saw a traffic car parke doutside one of the stations while they were in the area!

  • i know what your saying but xh and xb cover the a40, thats why they have the bmw like this, i worked at xh for a bit!!!

  • It's not an ARV, just RPU by the looks of it.

  • Ok, although i thought the Met's RPUs were batten-burg

  • Brilliant Video

  • Cheers Ben

  • Nice Video!

  • Cheers!

  • Nice video, like the car!

  • yeah, its nice, is it an ARV or just a normal patrol car!!
