I've just realized there are no Male Haibane. Some of them look really boyish, but it's only females, or is there one I missed? It's been a long time since I've seen this anime, and I only got half way through.

In the first episode though they did say 'little sister' talking about Raka's cocoon. They never speculated about it being male or female, they knew it was female.

Huh? Well it's not actually. A lot of people just believe that behind the actual storyline occuring there's kinda a yuri story going on with Rakka and Reki.

Yuri is a japanese term that basically describes a story like this that has somewhat lesbian-type themes... In this show it's more of an undertone than an actual plot tool, but you can see it a lot in some of the later episodes.

and they call shows with lesbian undertones yuri because the lily stands for purity hence yuri means that the relationships are pure and innocent
