  • One of my favorite country songs.

  • I first heard Gary sing when I was in high school. Wham! and Culture Club were famous then. Guess that dates me! :) Anyway, I happened upon his website. It looks like he is touring again. Wish he was coming near where I live. That voice is incredible on mp3 and video. Bet he sounds even better in person. Oh well, a middle aged girl can dream, can't she? :)

  • Loved this off his STONES CD...I also liked So Little Love in the World, The Jaws of Modern Romance, & Chrome Plated Heart. I was very lucky to be in the 3rd row center at the Pantages Theatre when he was Jean ValJean (Les Miz) and he's very gracious around his fans. Signs autographs & album covers & doesn't mind pix. I wish his version of LOVE HURTS was available to down load...

  • One of the greatest songs ever written. Love the background vocals!

  • At first hearing this song, I knew it was a keeper for the ages. The entire album "Stones" is superbly done.

  • Gary is one of my FAV Country artists from the 80s and they just DO NOT make voices like his... it is sad that he is no longer on the radio airwaves out there, either Country or Pop, his voice is UNREAL...

  • I really NEED to hear Velvet Chains again. Its been a long time.

  • Gary is really great!!!I wish I could find his songs Leave Me Lonely and Headed for a heartache. What a great talent who can transend from country to opera. What A GREAT Voice!!!

  • Added this to my 1989 playlist - thanks for the background info . . . . .

My channel is a time warp into the past, with a playlist for every year back to 1900 so you can listen to the music of any past year as if you were THERE ! ! !

  • wheres " why lady why" from gary?

  • ohh i forgot that one, good one also.

  • such an under rated singer, hope he comes back again

  • @yiyah412 He was never "underrated" as a singer. Everyone in this town knew he had "the voice". Problem was that he didn't fit the mold of a "country artist" and he wanted to do other things besides sing country music. You MUST tour if you have an album released and that is a bitch. One nighters from Bangor to San Francisco and every radio and tv show in between. Not for him. He went to New York and did the Broadway thing and that sorta killed the country career. Hunting lodge owner now.

  • This is from the album "Stones" I sung this song at our wedding in 1989 Great song!! So is "Bread and Water" from this album.

  • The Universal Nashville label was a total washout, but not from a lack of talent.
