Im Cape Verdean, my grandfather came from there. This girl doesnt look like my relatives at all. She is too african looking. In the past 50 years there have been many more africans from mainland africa coming to Cape Verde. If you look at Cape Verdeans from 100 years ago they were much lighter skinned and mixed looking. Since I have seen about 1000 of my relatives I can say this with some fact. And I also have friends that grew up there, have friends that go there often. True CV's are mixed.

Yes, I do consider CV a part of Africa. And I consider myself to be part African. But we do know that there were no people on the islands until the Portuguese got there and inhabited it and brought Africans there. Then everyone else came and mixed. Trust me, I know CV's come in all shades, but I dont recall seeing anyone in my family or other CV's I know having her features. I dont see a drop of European/asian in her features and most CV's have a distinct mixed look. Its my opinion of my people.

I know my history honey, I know what a typical CV looks like too. I also know that I look like one, have african skin, creole features and am stunning. That's what pisses me off about capeverdeans in NE. The couple ignorant comments here no way represent the majority of CV, they know they are of AFrican descent. I also want to stress that I think she is beautiful. I just dont think she looks like a typical CV at all. I could show any of my relatives this and they would think the same. Its not in anyway being discriminatory. She has the lips, eyes, nose of a mainland west african. Cape Verdeans are European/African mixed. She is definitely not Portuguese in anyway. Nor European mixed with African. So obvious. CV's have the most beautiful skin. Hers not so much.

Im Cape Verdean, my grandfather came from there. This girl doesnt look like my relatives at all. She is too african looking. In the past 50 years there have been many more africans from mainland africa coming to Cape Verde. If you look at Cape Verdeans from 100 years ago they were much lighter skinned and mixed looking. Since I have seen about 1000 of my relatives I can say this with some fact. And I also have friends that grew up there, have friends that go there often. True CV's are mixed.

I also know that CV's from 150 years ago dont look like this girl. The slaves on their way to America did. Check your history books. Im dark for your information. Yes, I do consider CV a part of Africa. And I consider myself to be part African. But we do know that there were no people on the islands until the Portuguese got there and inhabited it and brought Africans there. Then everyone else came and mixed. Trust me, I know CV's come in all shades, but I dont recall seeing anyone in my family or other CV's I know having her features. I dont see a drop of European/asian in her features and most CV's have a distinct mixed look. Its my opinion of my people.

Even today, CV is filled with Senegaleans, Nigerians, etc. They sell the same crap in cv that they sell in nyc. Fifty years from now, someone will be making the same argument using these vendors grandchildren as examples of how "African" CV's are. I will say however, I will take a black badia over any mixed, green eyed criola! Once you go badia, there's no going back!
